Rumor: Dodgers & Sox discussing Sale & Frazier
ChiSoxFanMike replied to DirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Would it be possible to merge all the Sale threads together? There's like 3 or 4 different topics relating to him and it's a pain to have to check each one individually. Nothing is concrete at this point so I think it'd be better to have 1 thread dedicated to Sale rumors. -

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 07:40 AM) Goin on in a few with @mullyhanley on @670TheScore in chitown. Talking Sale and sale https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/798883154123694080 Can someone sum up what he said when he's done? I can't listen to it right now.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 10:45 AM) I'm nervous about a rebuild, but I'm ready for a change and it's worth the risk. Well said, good friend. I've already come to grips with seeing Sale in a different uniform. It is what it is. All I hope is the Sox improve from this process.

QUOTE (Username @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 09:52 AM) Ned Colletti was just on MLB Network and said he thinks the Dodgers make some big unexpected splashes. No mention of the White Sox but he's a Senior Advisor to the Dodgers so maybe he knows something. OH MY GOD IT'S HAPPENING!!!!!! -

QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 09:24 AM) Dodgers Top 100 players from BA's mid-season list: 24. Cody Bellinger 1b Dodgers Leveraged lefthanded swing produces 30-homer power potential, while his glove draws Gold Glove raves. 25. Jose De Leon rhp Dodgers Limited to seven Triple-A starts thus far, he still misses bats with premium stuff. 44. Alex Verdugo of Dodgers Compact lefthanded swing has movements that tend more toward hit over power, and 20-year-old has .150 ISO in Double-A. 60. Grant Holmes rhp Dodgers Scouts who love him see a future No. 2 or No. 3 starter. Those more skeptical see a power reliever future. 82. Frankie Montas rhp Dodgers Rib injuries have ruined Montas’ season so far. He may not be much help in 2016 but still offers a very intriguing power arm. 98. Willie Calhoun 2b Dodgers Calhoun is proving he can hit. He’s got some work to do to prove he can stick at second base. Holmes and Montas went to Oakland at the deadline for Hill and Reddick. -
Rumor: Dodgers & Sox discussing Sale & Frazier

So we have at least 4 teams that have expressed at least some interest in Sale (Boston, LA, Atlanta, and Washington). This couldn't be playing out any better for the Sox IMO. Keep pinning all these teams against each other and take the best offer. -

I can't envision a deal happening here...but I hope the Sox use this as leverage on Boston/LA/etc. -

I'm on another forum and some guy just said he wouldn't trade Trea Turner for Sale straight up. Moron. -
Baltimore is a perfect fit for him, but they don't have the prospects to get a deal done. So yeah, St. Louis is my ideal destination for him as well. It'd be awesome seeing him terrorize the Cubs 18 times a year.

This is making me upset and it hasn't even happened yet. I love Sale. But I love the White Sox more. They better not f*** this up. -
QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 12:21 PM) Which is why I stressed "if the package is solid". We all know the history with Sox talent evaluation, but we also know where they have placed in the standings the last 5+ years. Something needs to change. I see where you're coming from. Nothing is guaranteed. Sale's arm could fall off tomorrow for all we know. All I'm saying is that they need to get a "can't miss" player as a part of the return (like a Benintendi or Bregman type), and I don't see anyone the Dodgers could offer that would fit that criteria.
-
QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 11:45 AM) It shouldn't. If the package is solid, it should make you happy the Sox are on the path to becoming relevant again, and Sale helped moved that process along. That's the thing, Tony. There's no way for me to trust the Sox talent evaluators to make the right decisions in regards to a return on a potential Sale trade. My absolute worst nightmare is for the Sox to trade the best pitcher in franchise history, a future hall of famer, for a bunch of guys that never pan out.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 11:46 AM) I will just imagine the Cubs facing him and Kershaw to open the playoffs and it is all better. This would be awesome. Kershaw/Sale would be one of the best 1-2 duos in the history of baseball IMO. The Cubs couldn't beat those guys 4 times in a 7 game series.

Ozzie Jr. has said that Ozzie Sr. has wanted to be a part of the Sox organization for years, and was willing to be Robin's bench coach. I find it highly unlikely that they have info no one else has.
-
I'd take Ozzie Jr.'s words with a grain of salt. He hates Hahn and I don't think their family has anything to do with the Sox anymore. I think it's all speculation.
-
Imagine when the Sox are in Spring Training and Sale is on the other side of the facility in Dodger Blue? Yuck. Just thinking of it makes me angry.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 11:20 AM) Sale AND Frazier? Give me Urias, De Leon, Verdugo, Bellinger, Lux, and Puig/Pederson Even that package isn't satisfactory to me, especially for both Sale and Frazier. I'd much rather talk to Boston (or maybe even Houston) and see if something can happen with them first.
-
I really don't like the Dodgers as a landing spot for Sale from our perspective. Q, possibly, but not Sale.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 11:10 AM) I'm in a White Sox group chat on twitter. Over the past couple days, Ozzie Guillen Jr has been in there. He came in today and said that he's heard the Sox are close to trading Sale and Frazier to the Dodgers. That's all he had. No idea if it's true or not. Just thought I'd pass along. Are you serious? I don't have access to Twitter right now. I wonder what connections (if any) he has to the organization at this point.
-
QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 12, 2016 -> 08:12 PM) Did Lawries twitter profile ever say anything about being with the white sox? Nothing relating to it now His profile used to have a picture of him and Saladino celebrating and it had "South Side Sox" or something along those lines in his bio.

QUOTE (Username @ Nov 12, 2016 -> 07:47 PM) Straight up reading tea leaves here, but people being tight lipped about it makes me feel like something else is in the works. No reason for that if it's just a non-tender situation. Agreed. A non-tender is a fairly inconsequential move, so they would've announced it by now if it was an isolated transaction. I bet a trade is coming next and it wouldn't surprise me if Sale or Q were involved.
-
Maybe I'm looking too far into it, but he just tweeted this: "Truly a journey" I don't see what the point of non-tendering him would be, so maybe they'll tender and then trade him.
-
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 09:18 PM) It really is. Aside from the 3.5 year age difference, they're numbers are pretty darn close. Due to Abreu's younger age I feel he's worth more than 11M but not much more. If Abreu gets back to his '14 numbers, that's a different story. YOU'RE ALIVE!!! I haven't seen you post here in forever. How's are you?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 08:37 PM) This is a petty solid perspective on what Jose Abreu is worth in terms of annual salary. Dude. I don't know what vendetta you have against Jose, but he's worth WAY more than $11 million a year.
