  1. But I'm chilling in class not doing anything so it's all good lol.
  2. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 01:06 PM) I get people's right to protest but Trump won. What's the point of the protest, it's not going to change a lick... Maybe just maybe these people should have went out and voted so this didn't happen? I don't get it either. Someone found a racist sign in the bathroom too but protesting in school is pointless. They can't do anything to change it.
  3. Probably more than half actually. This is going to get really ugly.
  4. Literally half of my school is protesting over this right now. It's insane. I think ABC 7 is here.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:40 AM) DH's aren't worth nearly as much on the free agent market as actual position players. He'd probably get a contract similar to what Encarnacion will get IMO.
  6. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:29 AM) Not after last season. Plus, he's essentially a DH to a lot of teams. So what? He'd be one of the best free agents on the market this winter.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 07:43 AM) I don't see Abreu getting THAT big of a return. He said "some". Not all 4 or 5 of their top 100 guys.
  8. As long as he doesn't get America into another war and treats everyone as equal, I'll call his presidency a success.
  9. What's the point of extending Frazier if they're tearing everything down? A veteran leadership role perhaps?
  10. I'm scared and yet excited at the same time.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 01:17 PM) Deservedly, he's one of the best radio guys I have ever listened to. Darrin Jackson is better.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 11:20 AM) If we deal Sale or Q to Boston, there is literally no good reason not to include Jones to get back another player or two. There is literally no good reason to throw in Jones in a package deal to worsen his value.
  13. QUOTE (FLsouthsider @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 11:38 PM) I've moved into the total rebuild camp because it really is a unique opportunity, but it poses some really interesting questions. First off, I think most of us would agree that it makes sense to hang on to Anderson, Rodon and Eaton. But, of course, everyone has a price and you should always listen to offers. Now, let's say Hahn decides to go full nuclear option. Hypothetically ... They trade Sale and Quintana in megadeals to the Dodgers, Red Sox or Astros. They package Eaton and Abreu to, say, the Nats for God-knows-what. Jones and Melky get sent to San Francisco (OK, OK, so the Giants aren't big Cabrera fans after his PED suspension in 2012, but this is all a fantasy-baseball-esque dreamscape anyway). Robertson goes to a contender. Frazier, Lawrie ... maybe they stay because they don't have tons of value in this market. But maybe Hahn revisits that at the deadline. Avi ... still has zero value. With ALL of those pieces on the move, the White Sox could realistically acquire anywhere from 10 to 25 prospects, a significant portion of them being high level to elite. Now, not all of them are going to be MLB-ready, obviously, and the big-league roster is now essentially bereft of any veteran presence. The interesting thing to me is figuring out how in the heck you go about putting a team on the field for the next two seasons. It reminds me of expansion teams, where they have to feed off the scraps. I mean, it would be one UGLY season, like 50 wins. A season where we're all looking at Charlotte and Birmingham box scores every night. But the wave of talent -- considering it would be buttressed by likely back-to-back top-five picks in '18 and '19 -- arriving over the next two to four years would be IMMENSE. Well, this is typically what happens when a team completely tears it down from the top down. The next few years would be ugly (probably REALLY ugly), but the future would be really bright in theory if they make the right trades.
  14. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 12:06 PM) The goal is not to trade for Heyward because he's good - it's the opposite. It's essentially taking on salary to allow us to get even more of their great players. Not dissimilar to when you retain salary to get more prospects. You wouldn't consider it for Baez, Schwarber, Soler, and our pick of 3-4 prospects? No ....
  15. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Nov 5, 2016 -> 03:03 PM) So the Sox would need a CF, C, DH & another solid pen arm or two to truly compete for a playoff spot. Looking at the FA market, it's s***. There's really no way around that. If they are going to go out & make moves, they are going to be forced to either trade the top end of their farm system or forego at least one of two of their draft picks, which either scenario makes it really hard to build for the future. If they were to trade off, they could load up that farm system pretty quickly by dealing players like Sale, Quintana, Jones, Abreu, Melky, Robertson, etc. On paper, they have a decently solid team with a few holes, so does it really hurt them to make a few moves & go for it again one more time & deal at the break if they aren't in it? I'd say no but going back to adding players, you can't really do that unless you hurt the farm system. If you trade off a key piece or two, does that give you enough to sit back for a year & compete in 2018? I'm not sure about that either. Really what it comes down to is that the Sox are in a "safer" position to play the middle again by signing a few guys to plug holes by not giving up any picks or prospects. It's a much larger risk if you go "all in" like they did the past two years or sell it all, especially in the latter scenario with the Cubs just winning a World Series and putting a sizable amount of pressure on the Sox to actually make themselves relevant again. All in all, this is just me rambling but curious to get other's thoughts on what direction this team will actually go in. I actually think the opposite is true. Everyone is so focused on the Cubs right now that it's the perfect time for the Sox to tear everything down if they choose to do so. All the casual fans are rooting for the Cubs right now anyway, so the Sox are an afterthought right now to everyone besides die-hard Sox fans. If the Sox play their cards right, they could have a young core and be in contention like the Cubs by 2018 or 2019.
  16. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) A bag of Matt Adams poop. Yummy.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 01:42 PM) Eaton to the Cardinals makes a ton of sense if Sox rebuild For who? Reyes, Grichuk, Perez, and who else?
  18. QUOTE (Username @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 12:23 PM) Pure speculation, but some hope they do the rational thing: @JimBowden_ESPN on #WhiteSox off season "teams are going to line up for Sale and Quintana. I think they're going to sell all" Hmm. It'd be interesting to see what next year's team looks like if they gut everything and trade every guy with value. I'd assume the entire roster would be different with the exception of Anderson and Rodon.
  19. Collins is so intriguing to me. I doubt he'll be ready to come up next year and I don't think he'll stick at catcher, but he supposedly has an elite bat that can play anywhere. I think he ends up at first base or DH.
  20. This is a really classy thread though. I doubt Cubs fans would make a thread like this on their message board if the roles were reversed.
  21. I'll be upset if Sale goes, but I care more about the team than I do him. If trading him makes the Sox younger and better, I'm all for it.
  22. QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 10:42 AM) For the record, I also didn't say you needed to be happy about it. It's the f***ing whining and pettiness that I find ridiculous. But sure, to each his or her own. I just think it makes Sox fans look bad, personally. Fair enough. I don't know why everyone is attacking you in such a hostile manner. You have an opinion and are allowed to state it. I see where you're coming from for sure.
  23. QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 10:36 AM) It IS similar to the Red Sox. The White Sox less so, because there was no legend or mystique around it. I didn't care as much about the Red Sox because I didn't personally know as many Red Sox fans, and I was also... what... 18? Haha Maybe I'm simply choosing to enjoy this moment because I love and miss playing the game so much, and I LOVE the legends and superstitions and STORIES that go along with the game of baseball, and that series and that game 7 fed into those things in such a magnificent way. I mean that rain delay was f***ing divine intervention, and I'm not even religious haha I absolutely love baseball and the stories/legends/myths behind it, but you're not going to convince me or any other die-hard Sox fan that they should enjoy these moments. I'm really bummed and annoyed about it. You can root for whoever you want, but telling fans of a rival team that they should feel happy about this is a waste of time.
  24. QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 10:23 AM) Careful, your bias is showing. Yes. One of the greatest games and moments and series' in the history of sports. That is not going too far. I don't understand it. A lot of teams have had championship droughts for long periods of time (albeit not as long as the Cubs), so I'm not really sure why this is any greater than the Red Sox winning in '04 or the Sox in '05. The typical baseball fan that isn't a part of the Cubs bandwagon most likely doesn't see this World Series differently than any other IMO.
  25. QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 10:19 AM) I think all you guys b****ing are just ridiculous. We witnessed one of the greatest moments in the history of sports in that game 7, and all you care about is annoying Cubs fans on the train. It's been 2 days. They're allowed to be obnoxious. Are you guys really that sensitive that it bothers you? Man up. One of the greatest moments in the history of sports? Lol ok. It was one of the greatest moments ever for Cubs fans, but everyone else doesn't really give a crap.
