2016 Fantasy Baseball Official Thread
ChiSoxFanMike replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in The Diamond Club
In the championship in both of my important leagues. I also have Kershaw in both, so that's nice. -
QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Sep 19, 2016 -> 07:21 AM) I'm hoping you're the only RV at spring training. lol, I was thinking the same thing.
-
5 posts in a game thread before this one...must be a new record low around here.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 10:19 PM) Should that 1 other run have been unearned? Missed the play. Get that era below 3 and I think Sale backdoors his way into the Cy Young It should be, IMO. Dozier would have easily been out had it been an accurate throw.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 09:09 PM) Sale just gave up 7 hits to 10 batters. Sale can't melt down like that. The game would've been entirely different had Saladino made a good throw and gotten out of the inning.
-
f*** Saladino. This is his fault.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 11:17 AM) My lord, you f***ing people. Do you seriously strangle splits for "when it mattered" with other players in other eras? With other players on other teams? Math nerds, please do me a favor and tell me how many more wins Jose Abreu would have netted us if his second half was his first half. Add that total to the Sox's win total and tell me if we're in contention yet because Jose Abreu hit "when it mattered" By the way - newsflash - if it turns out that Jose Abreu wouldn't have made a difference by himself "when it mattered" then guess what IT DIDN'T MATTER. JFC. A lot of you are looking WAY TOO HARD to find ways in which Jose Abreu had a bad season. I'm sorry, but Jose Abreu did not have a bad season. His season will end up being very, very similar to last season. Last season was a good season. Not spectacular, but good. If Jose Abreu had the 4 more home runs in the first half to make his numbers "acceptable", and if every one of those home runs turned a loss into a win, the Sox would still be out of contention. You sound angry.

The only people I'd be happy for if they won it all are the really old people and diehard fans that waited their entire lives for this. The people that go to the games just to party and get drunk can f*** themselves. I'll be rooting for any team that plays them.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 10:00 AM) Agreed. We didn't sign Rollins to bench him. Man does that signing annoy me, still. Thankfully it wasn't for a whole lot of moolah, but yeah, he was done. It's too bad, I wanted him to succeed, he just didn't have anything left.

I wonder what Albers' 40 time would be.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 10:54 AM) Twins are transitioning Jay to a starter, and has never been considered an MLB elite closer That isn't what he said at all.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 10:00 PM) Can you believe the Chicago Cubs are going to win the 2016 World Series? It's here and it's happening, folks. And if they win it, the Sox are irrelevant forever. It actually probably would be good for the Sox. To get our front office moving. Chicago is a championship city right now. The Hawks always win the Cup; the Sox won it in 05; the Bulls had the Jordan dynasty. it's crazy. Now the Cubs -- WS champs. It's going to be tough to stomach. Woah, bro. Can you tell me the winning lottery numbers for next week too since you know the future?

He's a great 4th outfielder.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 11:32 AM) I'll probably hate this in a couple weeks but my thinking is 1.) Trade Sale. He's gone IMO. 2.) Stack the lineup with future core members (Eaton, Abreu, Benintendi, Anderson, Swihart and maybe Saladino) as well as a trade candidates (Reddick, Frazier and Valencia). Offense and defense is improved. 3.) Use money on relievers for trade bait. 4.) Keep first round pick. 5.) Keep Robertson/Frazier to build up value a bit. I could see trading Frazier in the offseason but I'd let Robertson get back to being his old self before dumping his contract for nothing. July comes around, if everything goes well, the team is in contention (rotation is a stretch). If things go south, you can trade Frazier/Robertson/Valencia/Reddick/Cecil/Gonzalez/Putnam and potentially Quintana. Meanwhile core is Eaton, Q, Rodon, Abreu, Benintendi, Swihart, Anderson, Burdi, Jones and maybe Johnson/Fulmer/E-Rod with Collins, Devers, Adams, Call, Fisher, Hansen, Stephens on the way. If you're able to sell high on 3-4 of the guys in the paragraph above this one, you add to this. One more year of sucking in 2018 and you're looking to compete in 2019. Is this what you'd like to see them do, or have you gotten hints from the Sox front office that they're planning on doing something like this during the offseason?

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 12:05 PM) After looking at this schedule, I'm even more for a rebuild. Agreed. They'll probably be under .500 by the end of April.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 09:53 AM) Check the link at 11:30, when MLB releases the schedule. Cool, thanks man. I had assumed the schedule was already released since you posted about it, sorry for the confusion.

The page isn't working for me. Can you please try and post the link again?

I finished 15-6 and 16-5 in my 2 most important leagues, so not bad. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 12:17 PM) Eh, I don't see that as super important here. Winning games in a pennant race should be more important than Q beating Minnesota while both teams suck. You're missing Jimmy's point. Why should Sale and Q be penalized for being on a bad team if they have (relatively) no control over it? Put Porcello on the White Sox and he'd probably have just 13-14 wins. Put Sale/Q on the Red Sox and they'd both have 20 wins easily by now. Why should Porcello benefit in the Cy Young race for being on a team that gives him loads of run support, if Sale and Q don't have that same luxury that's out of their control?
-
Who I want to win: Sale Who will probably win: Porcello Who should win if the season ended today: Kluber
-
I'd rather have Semien over Saladino as far as that goes.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Sep 11, 2016 -> 06:26 PM) http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2016/09/11/lev...with-white-sox/ The Red Sox sent executive Frank Wren to watch White Sox left-hander Chris Sale pitch against the Royals on Sunday Holy f***ing s***. This seems serious.

Jon Heyman: Sox have little interest in moving Sale or Quintana
ChiSoxFanMike replied to Kyyle23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'd love to target Kevin Kiermaier. He's elite defensively and has a solid left handed bat too.
