  1. The Astros will always have a soft spot in my heart because of 2005...it's hard to explain why. That series was incredible.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2016 -> 01:45 PM) Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal Source: LHP Neal Cotts has exercised May 15 opt-out with #Angels. Team must decide whether to add him to 25-man roster or let him go. I'd take him as a situational lefty over Duke, lol.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2016 -> 01:33 PM) Brian McTaggart @brianmctaggart Carlos Gomez on the 15-day DL with a bruised left rib cage That's a rough break for the Sox; he had been playing like garbage as of late.
  4. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 17, 2016 -> 12:40 PM) I hate that Sale has all these Central opponents. He typically struggles (relatively speaking) when pitching in the division. It's a new year and Sale is as dominant as ever. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
  5. I want Avila to catch Sale and Rodon. Navarro can handle the rest.
  6. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 17, 2016 -> 10:45 AM) One day maybe I can wake up before 6 AM and start a game thread. Let's start winning again! There's no chance I'd be up before 6 AM if I didn't have to go to school lol
  7. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ May 17, 2016 -> 10:13 AM) I think Calhoun could work. The Sox could also target Jered Weaver to shore up the rotation taking on some bad salary from the Halos. A deal like Fulmer, Michaelzeski, Guerrero, and Hawkins for Calhoun and Weaver could be enticing to them. It gives them three legit prospects that will likely be MLB players and a wild card in Hawkins if they can get him on track. The Sox take on the remainder of Weavers $20M salary and see if they can help him get right. Weaver is a pending FA, the one hangup would be a full no trade clause that he would need to waive. Weaver is throwing BP at this point in his career. There is not a chance in hell that the Sox should trade for him.
  8. Does his new name have any sort of meaning?
  9. QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 17, 2016 -> 08:48 AM) Lots of front-office apologists who refuse to look at facts, I see. Here's another fact: TWO playoff appearances in 16 years under this front office. The list is long: Ritchie, Garcia (1/2 year rent), Swisher, Vasquez, Edwin Jackson, Samardzija, Peavy and Frazier. Only Thome could be considered a positive, but if you factor in the fact that jettisoning Frank was part of that move, it is closer to neutral. Bourgeois is 34, has an OPS of .627 in .708 major league at bats. To use him for anything other than Charlotte filler would be beyond belief......except that this org. loves its veterans. Heck Leury is 25 and has an OPS of .823 in Charlotte this year. Do you find a way to b**** about literally everything? Like I've said before, your ideal MLB team would consist of 25 20-25 year old players making the minimum. It makes no sense. Look at the Phillies. Their roster is pretty similar to that (sans Howard). Are they a quality MLB team? No.
  10. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 17, 2016 -> 08:52 AM) Now that's just some straight up trolling my dude. I don't think the Sox have really lost a trade since 2000. Swisher, but how could they see that coming? I give Hahn/KW a pass there. How exactly did the Sox not lose the Samardzija trade?
  11. The pitch to contact approach just won't work for Rodon like it does for Sale. In my opinion, he needs to stop being "pretty" and start becoming more aggressive like he was at the end of last year. If his control suffers a little bit, fine. But what he's doing now isn't working and he needs to change things up before it spirals out of control. For a young pitcher, confidence is everything. Carlos needs to have a solid start tonight to build up poise and a swagger.
  12. Kris Bryant is GOAT so the Angels would have to include a couple prospects with Trout to make something work.
  13. Burns would be a fantastic #2 hitter. Imagine how many times Eaton and Burns could get on base and wreck havoc ahead of Abreu, Frazier, and Melky. Plus he could play LF which would shift Melky to DH, thus improving the defense as well.
  14. Let's get back to winning at home against the overrated f***er who stole the Cy Young from Sale last year. Go Sox!
  15. I see Burns as a poor man's Scott Podsednik, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing given the construction of the White Sox roster as it stands right now.
  16. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 16, 2016 -> 08:11 PM) Why is he more realistic than Reddick? He's younger and controlled until 2020. Because Reddick is more of an "impact" bat that could help a contending team get over the hump as a rental. Burns is good, no doubt, but his numbers aren't eye popping and he isn't flashy like Reddick.
  17. QUOTE (Deadpool @ May 16, 2016 -> 07:33 PM) What do you think we would have to offer? Not sure, but he's probably a more realistic option than Reddick at this point.
  18. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ May 16, 2016 -> 07:03 PM) Does anyone think that Oakland would make Billy Burns available. I really like where you're going with this. He's young, left handed, solid defensively, and has ridiculous speed. He'd be a great #2 hitter behind Eaton for sure.
  19. QUOTE (soxfan18 @ May 16, 2016 -> 04:05 PM) My off day boredom has led to me looking ahead with the pitchers. With Sale going on Thursday, is he closing out the DH Monday on 3 days rest? Gotta assume so. There is absolutely no reason to have Chris Sale pitch on three days rest in May.
  20. Honestly, I'm not that concerned. Every team goes through bad stretches and we knew right away that Texas/New York would be a hard road-trip. Just win 6 or 7 out of 10 at home and handle the teams in the division and things will be fine.
  21. Preston Tucker also got optioned by the Astros yesterday. I'd LOVE to have him on the Sox.
  22. Robbie Grossman might be an option for the Sox. He was just released by Cleveland. He's a switch hitter, just 26 years old, and has decent pop. He's worth a try IMO.
  23. Let Chicago White Sox or I start the game thread on Tuesday. We bring good luck.
  24. The Sox are falling back to Earth very quickly. This sucks.
