QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Feb 24, 2016 -> 09:55 PM) Roll call! Black Sox Jerksticks Alexeihhhhyyyeees (love your name dude if i never said it) Littlehurt05 Dick Allen Sign up. Reading anything that spoiled turd Brett writes on bleachernation makes me want to puke. Yes, I troll that page. It's little battles like reminding them they tanked, that Sam Zell used their fanbase like an old whore, that their players are still prospects and may bust, or that now that they have Schwarber all the traditionalist-purity-of-the-NL-pitchers-need-to-hit-to-call-it-real-baseball whining phonies are going to turn heels and become the biggest hypocrites on earth clammoring for the DH when he posts a -50 dWAR this year. Winning those little battles of reminding them it's BS helps a bit. I'm going to need a therapist if they win Add me to the list. I hate the Cubs with a passion.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) I don't give a f*** what the reason is, Sox fans have the right to be pissed off about this. I'm more pissed about not getting Coghlan. The Sox could have offered Petricka and they would've accepted. What the hell is Hahn waiting for? Avi to suddenly become an All Star?
-
I wouldn't mind Reddick, even as a rental. Worst case scenario is that the Sox send a fringe prospect or two to the A's and get the compensation pick back next year when he leaves.
-
Is it me, or does Tom Ricketts look similar to Ted Cruz?

QUOTE (WBWSF @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 08:07 AM) Avi is going to have a GREAT year. The entire White Sox team is going to have a GREAT year in 2016. The 2016 White Sox are going to the 2016 Playoffs. They will be the only Chicago team to reach the 2016 Playoffs. Love the optimism. I hope you're right. If the Sox can somehow find a way to make the playoffs, I think they have a good chance of making a run. The top 3 in the rotation can match up with just about any other team and having Sale in an Elimination Game or Game 7 would give the Sox a good shot to win any game they need to. Sale could be matched up against any other ace in baseball and I'd still be confident about the Sox winning that particular game.

QUOTE (LDF @ Feb 23, 2016 -> 06:02 PM) i see your comment and i would like to ask one question, ref the bold, at what price would the sox have like it, not what the sox will, per the owners not wanting to spend, but what value do you see him being worth??? I really can't answer your question, as I have no idea of the intricacies of the White Sox finances. I'd guess that they would've been in on him in the $20-$25 million range though. Just a guess.
-
QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 23, 2016 -> 05:50 PM) The Sox personal finances should have nothing to do with you judging the price a player recieves on the open market. They are two separate items and need to be looked at as such. A little over 11 million dollars a year for three seasons of a 29 year old Dexter Fowler is something the Sox should have been all over based on value alone, not to mention the glaring need on this team for a RF and a top of the order hitter. I don't disagree with any of this, but apparently the Sox didn't think too highly of him at that price point. It is what it is. I'm as frustrated as anyone that Avi is still the starter, but hopefully Hahn can pull another 'rabbit out of the hat' as far as RF goes

QUOTE (LDF @ Feb 23, 2016 -> 05:45 PM) strap for cash..... yeah right. i know, i should be asking for your apology for this, b/c everyone has a right to post an opinion. sorry. Ok, I'll rephrase it. They appear to be strapped for cash, but they probably aren't. Better?
-
QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 23, 2016 -> 05:40 PM) Hefty price? Really? $35 million + the pick is a hefty price to me, especially for a team like the Sox that always seem to be strapped for cash.
-
I don't know if I should be happy or sad about him not coming to the Sox. Obviously he would've made the team better in the short term, but that's a pretty hefty price for a guy like him. Just get Jackson and I'll be happy.
-
Fowler to the O's for 3 years and $35 million.
-
Rosenthal mentioned Michael Saunders on Twitter a few minutes back. I wonder if he could be an option for the Sox. On paper, it makes sense. He's relatively young, cheap, left handed, solid defensively, can play center, and could platoon with Avi.

If Rollins is indeed the last addition of the offseason, then I'm hoping that the Opening Day lineup is: CF - Eaton (L) LF - Cabrera (S) 1B - Abreu ® 3B - Frazier ® DH - LaRoche (L) 2B - Lawrie ® C - Navarro (S) RF - Garcia ® SS - Rollins (S)

QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 03:39 PM) Shuck and his amazing reverse splits of a .683 OPS. Melky couldn't have been much worse against LHP last year. Be nice to get another righty bat out there, especially with how bad Eaton was against LHP last year as well. I don't know what to tell you. I'm trying to be optimistic. I want another righty bat as much as you, but I just can't see it happening at this point unless it's a similar type of deal like Rollins just got. Perhaps Hahn will try to add an outfielder off the scrap heap.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 03:32 PM) That outfield isn't a contending outfield. Crawford is unreliable, and holy cow would the team suck vs LHP. How would it suck vs LHP? Melky is a switch hitter and is decent from the right side, Shuck has reverse splits, and Sands can rake lefties.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 03:24 PM) You'd still need Avi. The guy hasn't played in more than 130 games since 2010. He hasn't played in more than 116 since 2011. That's what Shuck and Sands are for. A Melky/Eaton/Crawford outfield with Shuck as the 4th outfielder and Sands as the 5th outfielder/platoon DH with LaRoche would be nice.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 03:21 PM) Interesting comment from Cafardo's Sunday article: 4. Don’t be shocked if the Dodgers part ways with Carl Crawford and eat the remaining $42 million on his contract. There comes a point of diminishing returns — and a time to fill his roster spot with a younger, more productive player — and it seems the Dodgers are getting closer to that point. http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2016/02/...SBUL/story.html I'd certainly take him over Avi if the Dodgers ate his entire contract.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 12:12 PM) CF Adam Eaton LF Melky Cabrera 1B Jose Abreu 3B Todd Frazier DH Adam LaRoche 2B Brett Lawrie SS Jimmy Rollins RF Avisail Garcia C Dioner Navarro/Alex Avila As it stands now, this lineup isn't that bad, especially compared to last year. I'd like the look of this team a lot more if LaRoche and Avi can just be league average hitters.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 11:53 AM) This isnt really a trend. And Rollins also doesnt fit into this list So you think that Rollins is still in his prime? I guess he could be, but it seems unlikely as he's already 37 years old. This is off-topic, but this signing pretty much wipes out the chance of the Sox going after Desmond, right?
-
QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 11:44 AM) I see no real issue with this move. Not like they just gave him $5M for the year to be a question mark. Literally no risk involved here. Could end up being a smart move that we look back on as being worth a win or two w/ bench roles, etc. I'm not angry about it, I just posted a trend that I continue to see on a yearly basis. Who knows, maybe this signing could end up being a bargain. Either way, the Sox had nothing to lose by signing Rollins and I can't fault the FO for taking a chance on him.
-
Just add Rollins to the ever growing list of players that the Sox get past their primes. Griffey, Ramirez, Vizquel, Jones, Dunn, LaRoche, etc. It's pathetic.
-
How much would he make if he made the team? This isn't a flashy move, but at least he'd provide veteran leadership if nothing else.
-
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?
-
The O's can have Fowler. It makes more sense for the Sox to keep the pick and sign Austin Jackson or Yadiel Hernandez instead.

2016 Fantasy Baseball Official Thread

Thank you guys for all the criticisms, I really appreciate it! I won the championship in this particular league last year, as the points system significantly favored pitching over hitting (hence, why I traded most of my offensive studs for pitching studs). However, this year, the scoring was modified a bit to try to make the league more balanced. I'm pretty sure I have the top pitching staff of anyone in my league (I'm definitely in the top two; there's one guy whose pitching might be better than mine, but that's it), and my offense is probably towards the middle of the pack. At this point, I might stand pat until the season starts so I can see where my weaknesses are and address them then.
