Gerardo Parra signs with Rockies, 3 yrs 27.5mil
ChiSoxFanMike replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If the Rockies do get Parra, I'd have to assume that CarGo is traded. -
I don't know about you guys, but I would be absolutely fine with Raburn going back to Detroit if it meant that Cespedes comes to the Sox.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 10:34 AM) What if Cespedes ends up getting 5/125 from some team? For me, I think he will be a massive flop with that type of contract. No one is giving him that type of deal. That's why he's still unsigned.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 05:26 PM) You read my mind, although I don't think Rasmus can be traded at this point due to his accepting the QO. I know Tucker would cost an arm and a leg and don't really see a potential match but I think Marisnick could be had, not sure for what though. I wouldn't mind a trade for Marisnick to play CF, sign Cespedes for LF, move Eaton to RF, Melky becomes the DH. That would be defensively upgrading all three OF positions. Who do you think the Sox would have to trade to get Marisnick? I'd like him for sure as a Gold Glove quality defender in CF.

If Fulmer is the asking price, then hell no. Ozuna would be an improvement over Avi, but he's not worth Fulmer.

I wish Davis would sign somewhere already, as I feel like he's holding up Cespedes' market.

The most important stat in baseball...
ChiSoxFanMike replied to Frank_Thomas's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 12:54 AM) Well not only are we not discussing the merits of a "perfect metric", I also referenced fWAR specifically. I choose not to acknowledge bWAR in almost any instance. Is there any specific reason why you like fWAR more bWAR or is it just personal preference? -
The most important stat in baseball...
ChiSoxFanMike replied to Frank_Thomas's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I personally like WAR as a way of evaluating a player. The only flaws with it is that it's not a concrete number like the traditional stats (for example, Baseball Reference had Chris Sale at a 3.3 WAR last year while Fangraphs had him at 6.2), and secondly, there is no real way to define a "replacement level player", even though the entire stat itself is based off of it. -

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see the NFL fold at some point in our lifetimes. Between the increasing injury risks, the lack of competency within the officiating group, concussions, the poorer quality of play within the last few years, etc, the NFL is not in good shape IMO. -

This game proves exactly why I like baseball so much more than football. Are all baseball players class acts? No. But the amount of scumbags/morons/douches in football relative to baseball is astronomical. -

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 11:03 PM) I dont I've had bears season tickets for 30 years and have never seen fans throw things at a player going off injured. This. I know some football fans are barbarians, but I doubt most of them would go to the extreme level that the Bengals fans did tonight. -

Cincinnati's fanbase is complete trash. Shame on them. -
QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 09:56 PM) Who posted it just wondering It was actually in a DM from a user on there. Like I said, that's probably not the reason why nothing is happening, but it's an interesting point that I hadn't thought about before.
-
I saw a post on Twitter that was interesting and could possibly be true. It said something along the lines of that the Sox are waiting until SoxFest to announce an acquisition to try to garner more interest in the event itself. I don't know if it's true or not, but it does seem like the Sox usually announce something big at that time.

I want absolutely nothing to do with Fowler. Hell, I'd prefer Austin Jackson over him.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 09:27 PM) Who plays LF for the Jays now? This doesn't make them players in the Cespedes/Upton talks? They have Pompey and Saunders...I doubt they'll be looking for one of the top tier guys. If anything, they'll go after a guy like Jackson.
-
Everything is falling into place. Now we need Davis to go back to Baltimore and St. Louis to trade for CarGo.
-
Cross Washington off the list...
-
I can't take anyone with the name 'Incarcerated Bob' seriously. Sorry.

Realistically, what teams are still in the market for Cespedes? I think the Giants and Angels are out now, so that leaves us with the: White Sox Orioles Nationals Cardinals Tigers Are there any other teams I missed? I like our chances.
-
@Alden_Gonzalez Angels still looking for LF and believe they'll get one. But at this point, they either trade for one, or he makes less than $5M in 2016. Sounds like they're out on Cespedes too.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 05:18 PM) LMAO why would Hahn say this? My God please have them sign someone soon! He most likely didn't. I don't know, I'm just curious as to how he knows for sure that they're not posturing. It doesn't make any sense at this point to know that they were "fibbing" the whole time.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 05:08 PM) The three year thing is still really frustrating (since we now know it is not posturing), as is (to me) our interest in Gonzalez. How do you know this? Did Hahn say this and I just missed it?

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 03:04 PM) I think Ofman might have been fed something to pressure Cespedes. Although Uptons market is very limited. Between Upton and Cespedes, which guy do you think is more likely to sign with the Sox?
