  1. QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 07:00 AM) GEEEEZ I'd hate to see Swirsky in there. No excitement in his voice when great things happen. Guy sounds like a friggin wet noodle. At the same time, I'd like to hear someone announce the game, and make professional comments and analogies that relate to what is going on at hand, instead of using a ghastly amount of his announcing air time in asking Stone more questions than a 10 year old kid on meth asking his parents on a vacation car ride, "Are we there yet?" "When are we gonna be there?" Half of his announcing was "Geez Steve, what would you do in this situation? Why does this person do so an so in this situation? etc etc etc. If you are announcing baseball, then act like you know something about the game, instead of spending most if the time sounding like someone who came over from another country, and was just introduced to the game of baseball for the very first time. Swirsky? PASS! Multiplied by 30. So.. Steve! What do you think? What would you do if I was made the announcer? How would you handle the situation? Have you ever run into a problem like me before. Can you explain the ruling to me what our roles would be if I was in the booth with you? Sorry to bug you with these questions,,,,but I have no other choice, because I am friggin clueless up the wazooooo. This post sums up my feelings on the subject quite well.
  2. QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 13, 2015 -> 11:39 AM) I'd love one of the math heads here to guesstimate how many hours the posters here have spent reading and writing. During the week, I spend a good 2-3 hours a day reading this forum haha.
  3. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 11:08 PM) Bingo! This is spot on. After '16 if Montas and Fulmer both are ready, the Sox could trade Q for a haul giving the Sox a '17 rotation of Sale, Rodon, Fulmer, Montas, EJ. Let's not forget about kids like Adams and Guerrero that could progress in the mean time and possibly make EJ expendable before the '18 season. This is why I prefer,if possible, to hold off on trading Q or Sale for one more year to see how Montas and Fulmer progress along with Adams and Guerrero behind them. And like you said, next years FA pitching looks abysmal. 100% agreed. There should be no reason to move Montas now unless there was a trade involving him that clearly upgraded the lineup.
  4. ^^^ I like that plan, but I don't understand the purpose of the Putnam trade and I really have no interest in LeMahieu.
  5. I could see Thompson being a right handed equivalent to Kevin Kiermaier if he reaches his full potential.
  6. Johnny Cueto in the AL for 3-7 years while he's on the decline? No thanks.
  7. The only trade I would be comfortable making out of the 3 you listed is the one involving the Padres.
  8. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 07:59 PM) Why? Not saying fulmer but it's a guy that fits Hahns younger controllable player. Plus we don't particularly have a future 3rd baseman at this point. I'm just really high on Fulmer and feel like he's going to be a very good big league pitcher. That being said, I'd trade any Sox prospect sans Fulmer or Anderson for McMahon.
  9. So far I'm correct on 5 of my 7 guesses. Woo!!!
  10. "The Kenny Williams/MLB The Show/Baller Edition" • Sign Yoenis Cespedes for 6 years/$135 million • Trade Spencer Adams, Tyler Danish, Courtney Hawkins, Micah Johnson, Jordan Guerrero, and Adam Engel for Todd Frazier • Trade Frankie Montas, Avisail Garcia, Adam LaRoche, and Daniel Webb for Carlos Gonzalez Lineup - (CF) Adam Eaton (L) (DH) Melky Cabrera (S) (1B) Jose Abreu ® (RF) Carlos Gonzalez (L) (LF) Yoenis Cespedes ® (3B) Todd Frazier ® (2B) Brett Lawrie ® © Dioner Navarro (S) (SS) Carlos Sanchez (S) Bench - (2B, SS, 3B) Tyler Saladino ® © Alex Avila (L) (OF) JB Shuck (L) (OF) Trayce Thompson ® Starting Rotation - 1. 11. Why does it seem like the Sox always get former superstars past their prime? Dunn, Thome, Vizquel, Manny Ramirez, Andruw Jones, Griffey, etc. The list goes on and on.
  12. I'm not that upset over this honestly. Yeah, his defense is great but he has only 15 homer power. That's not worth $200 million in my mind.
  13. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:19 PM) Hard to believe they dont win a world series in the near future. If they dont though for some reason, I dont think their fanbase will ever come back from that. It's the Cubs. They'll find some way to F up this opportunity.
  14. This really could be a blessing in disguise for us Sox fans. Heyward's inflated deal could prevent the Cubs from locking up their young guns long term. Not to mention that they're throwing $200+ million at a guy similar to Adam Eaton.
  15. http://www.blowoutcards.com/forums/basebal...igned-cubs.html Bleh.
  16. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:03 PM) Cheers! Happy holidays to all Soxtalk members! We have a great community here. +1 I would've joined this website when it started if I had known about it, even though I would've only been 5 or so at the time haha.
  17. I'd like to unload Avi and LaRoche too but it really makes no sense to diminish Q's value by throwing them in.
  18. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 11:20 AM) Sox trade Q + Garcia + LaRoche to Red Sox for Deven Marrero, Brock Holt, JBJ and Henry Owens Sox trade Tim Anderson, Micah Johnson and Erik Johnson to Mets for SP Zach Wheeler Sign Cespedes LF Eaton DH Cabrera 1B Abreu RF Cespedes 3B Holt 2B Lawrie C Navarro/Avila CF JBJ/Thompson SS Saladino/Sanchez/Marrero SP Sale SP Rodon SP Wheeler SP Owens SP Danks That Q deal makes no sense IMO.
  19. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 11:28 AM) Which in this case will be awesome. Part of the reason I want him. I get player opt-out is hugely in the players favor, but here you get the best of his years likely won't have to worry about what will be an awful back end of the contract. I can't explain how much I agree with this... Hell, I'd give him a 10 year/$250 million deal with a player opt-out after year 4. Then the Sox would have him in his age 26-30 seasons and then he'll be gone.
  20. I feel like the Sox did flukeishly underperform last year though. No one expected Samardzija, LaRoche, Garcia, Gillaspie, Sanchez, etc to be that bad. Even if they just played to their career averages, the Sox would've won 83-85 games last season IMO.
  21. Brian Omogrosso was absolutely terrible too. I never knew how that guy made it to the big leagues. He literally couldn't get anything over the plate.
  22. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 07:54 PM) Weather Alert: flash flood warning for the North Side of Chicago. A high pressure system of over zealous expectations by fans of that area will produce heavy rains from the eyes of said fans after tropical storm Heyward moves to the DC area. Heavy rains are expected to continue in the wake of tropical storm Heyward indefinitely. Take caution and plan accordingly for provisions such as rain gear, canned food, ear plugs, duct tape and it would be especially beneficial if one knows how to build a boat. End weather statement. I love you.
  23. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 05:41 PM) Batters Since 1952: Name WAR Luis Alvarado -2.5 Rich Morales -2.1 Greg Norton -1.7 Jeff Abbott -1.7 George Bell -1.6 Avisail Garcia -1.5 Mike Squires -1.1 Mike Caruso -1 Chris Snopek -0.9 Avisail Garcia...ouch. I'm surprised Leury Garcia isn't on this list though. I guess he didn't play enough games to qualify.
