QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 08:29 PM) Avi wouldn't work since they already have Stanton and Yelich in the corners. I thought Yelich was a centerfielder? I could be wrong.

I'd really like Marcell Ozuna. I have no idea if he's available or not, but I'd trade Avi and someone else for him.

QUOTE (lord chas @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 08:05 PM) The catching position needs to be upgraded by any means necessary As pathetic as it sounds, I think the catcher position is pretty far down on the list in regards to pursuing an upgrade. Flowers and Soto aren't great, but their numbers combined aren't too bad.

QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 06:18 PM) damn, i the sox can get a good pkg including just prospects, i will trade Q to the Cards, just to make sure they screw the sCrubs up in the playoff. I'd already prefer that than trading him to the Cubs. I really like Stephen Piscotty and Carlos Martinez. All I know is that it would suck so much to see the Sox trade Q to the North Side just to see him take the Cubs to the next level. It'd be such a slap in the face.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 05:44 PM) You know that this isn't a real offer right? No one is out of their mind and that deal would never be offered for Quintana in the first place. It's just stupid to even be thinking about it since Quintana will not be traded to the Cubs. I'm 100% sure of it.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 05:48 PM) If you listen to Cubs fans they only want to trade their junk: Castro, Soler, etc. (Soler and Castro aggregated to a .9 WAR last year). But even if Theo is willing to make an honest trade, I just don't see a matchup. Who do they have that we want? Any ML ready C or 3B? I know they have some guys in low minors, but I just don't see the fit. Now, I can see fits with Boston, the number 1 player-hype machine in MLB (Cubs still #2). But not Cubs. I definitely wouldn't mind seeing Baez being traded here. He has some pop and his defense seems decent for the most part as well. I wonder what the Cubs would do if the Sox offered Erik Johnson and a fringe prospect like Tyler Danish for him.

QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 05:29 PM) this is from Theo pov of what is a fair trade. btw, i am being snarky that is why the green .... Hanneman is the 30th prospect of the northsider and is 25 i think. Oh I know, I wasn't insulting you or anything like that. It's just that Epstein is out of his freaking mind if he thinks the Sox would accept a deal anything remotely close to that.

QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 05:18 PM) here is my translation. as long as it helps both teams, from the sCrubs, ss/3b - Castro, c-Ross and they would throw in 3b - Hannemann for either Q or Rodon. There is so much wrong with this that I don't even know where to start. 1. Why would the Sox want Castro or Ross? 2. Even if they did want them, why would they trade Q or Rodon for them? 3. Who is Hannemann? 4. The Cubs and Sox won't be making any blockbuster deals any time soon.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 12:14 PM) MILB contracts mean nothing. If he sucks, you release him. I don't think anyone is penciling him into the 2016 starting lineup. If it's a MILB deal, fine, but I want nothing to do with him if he wants an MLB deal.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 12:10 PM) For some reason I was thinking about Carlos Quentin yesterday so I looked up his BR page, saw how old he was and thought how sad it was that he was done. I saw him during his last season vs. the Cubs and he could barely stand. Now, he is said to be attempting a comeback, and most assuredly will have to sign a minor league contract. Supposedly he would market himself as a 1B/DH/OF. Sign me up. If he can't do it, so what? He won't be healthy the entire season, but when he is, he is exactly the type of hitter the Sox need. No thanks. He's been washed up since 2011.

Quintana should not be traded unless a team with a strong farm system gives the Sox 1 of their top 5 prospects along with a few in the 8-15 range.

Byung-ho Park bidding rights won by Twins, $12.85 m

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 09:16 AM) I think Plouffe would turn into dunn for the sox. Already there with low average, doesn't v walk alot and strikes out at least 100 times. Even if he did, I'd prefer that to an Olt/Saladino platoon. -

The Sox should go after Plouffe now. -

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 09:08 AM) Twins win per Adam Rubin per some scout from Korea. That makes literally no sense. -

If the Astros get this guy, maybe the Sox could pry Jonathan Singleton away from them. He seems like a good change of scenary candidate. -

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 08:11 AM) I would rule the Cubs out due to Rizzo/Bryant and the Reds due to Votto/Frazier, but I wouldn't say the same about the Reds or Phillies. Also, the Twins have Mauer and Sano, so I don't think they'd be interested. The Phillies and Brewers are "rebuilding", so I doubt that they'd be interested in this guy. That being said, the Sox probably should be rebuilding too but we all know that they won't. -

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 08:08 AM) Phillies, Brewers, Reds, Cubs, White Sox, Twins, and Astros. Is this the current list? I think so, but I'm 99% sure that the Cubs, Brewers, Phillies, and Reds aren't interested in him. That leaves us with: White Sox, Twins, Astros -

I'll never understand why the Rockies don't get guys like this. Even mediocre guys put up good numbers at Coors, so why don't they try to stack their lineup consistently like the Jays did this year? It literally makes no sense to me. -
White Sox hire Rick Renteria and Greg Sparks

Bleh. Wasn't this guy the Cubs manager a year or two ago? He's better than Mark Parent by default, but it don't see how he's a huge improvement. -

I'm secretly hoping that the Sox get this guy. If anything, it'll get that bum LaRoche out of town. -
White Sox make qualifying offer to Jeff Samardzija.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 8, 2015 -> 08:36 PM) I have the vibe that anywhere he goes he's going to pitch better. I don't think it's possible for him to pitch any worse next year than he did in 2015 no matter what team he'll be on. -

Watch him go to the Cubs and have a "2015 Arrieta" like season next year. -
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 8, 2015 -> 07:33 PM) 100% agree. You only trade Sale if it's for a franchise-altering package. And if Blake Swihart is the best piece you're getting, then it's clearly not that kind of package. 100000000% agree. The same idea applies for Quintana as well. He's not quite as valuable as Sale but he's pretty close.

I just saw the title of the thread and I assumed that this could be a serious deal. Needless to say, I just had a mini heart attack.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 10:35 AM) Shuck is under team control through the '19 season. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/shuckja01.shtml Nice. He's a very solid player.
