I hate Scott Downs.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 01:54 PM) Hard to believe they'd claim him and then expose him to waivers again in a week. I also have an additional question. If they have him on the team to start the season but then send him down at some point, is he still exposed to waivers then? Is it like the Nieto case last year where if the Sox would've sent him down, the Nationals could've claimed him back?

QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 28, 2015 -> 11:48 AM) march 20, mock http://www.mymlbdraft.com/MLB-Mock-Draft/ I just don't see the Sox taking a 2B/SS at #8 overall. There's already a ton of depth at those spots. I'd much rather take a pitcher or a power hitter at that spot.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 02:09 PM) Jacob Petricka still feels sore. Knows it's clean. Irritated because he just has to let arm rest. #WhiteSox https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/582250436998004736 Petricka still dealing with moderate soreness. Not looking likely for Opening Day, which is 8 days away. https://twitter.com/ESPNChiSox/status/582250562755956736 Robin Ventura says Micah Johnson has "done well enough to be the leading guy" for second-base job. But he's not naming him starter yet. https://twitter.com/ChiTribKane/status/582250943837646848 I'm pretty sure Petricka was slated to be the set-up guy for Robertson. If he isn't ready, who would take his place?

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 02:03 PM) Yes sir. That is such a tough spot for Ventura/Cooper to be in. They'll barely have any time to work with Drabek, but they'll have to make a decision on him very quickly.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 01:54 PM) Hard to believe they'd claim him and then expose him to waivers again in a week. If he doesn't make the Opening Day team out of Spring Training, is he exposed to waivers again?

Meh, he was terrible anyway. Not that big of a loss.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 28, 2015 -> 06:07 PM) He should work on throwing strikes and making the team. LOL. Well, this performance doesn't help his chances at all. The only positive thing about him is that he throws really hard, but that doesn't do any good if he can't get anything over the plate.

Cleto is horrible. My god.

Samardzija said he's not looking for "top dollar'' in

QUOTE (RaySox @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 07:54 PM) Perhaps we should wait to see if he's going to give up 6 homers ever 15 innings before offering any contracts This is a good point. If we consistently see the Samardzija we saw today this season, I'm fine if he walks. I'd rather spend the money on Cueto or Zimmermann anyway. -
What the hell is wrong with Samardzija today?
-
I hate the Cubs announcers so much.

Flowers with the BOMB!!! That thing was crushed.

Shuck is so good. Wow.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 03:35 PM) I don't think he'll last past June if he's struggling and the team is in contention. Who would replace him then? Soto? I am not convinced he's as good as he once was.
-
Wasn't this guy a top prospect like 5 years ago?
-
QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 07:19 PM) at #8, Aiken (after surgery), Kirby, Allard, Matuella, Bickford, or Fullmer. who still has the higher upside?? I sure as hell know that I would not want Aiken at #8. He's already gone through so many injury issues. It's not worth taking the risk with him IMO.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 09:04 AM) I don't necessarily like Brad Penny in particular, but I do like the idea of having a veteran who could be an adequate swingman. Those guys are hard to come by because, if they're any good, someone will usually give them a full-time rotation spot. FWIW, I'd be just as happy if that swingman was John Danks, but his velocity isn't touching the mid-90's in relief and I'm guessing he's not late enough into his career to accept a role like that willingly. I know Carroll isn't a veteran, but I'd much rather have him be the swingman or spot-starter than Penny at this point in their careers.

Nate Jones targeting All Star Break return
ChiSoxFanMike replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 11:35 AM) all i have to say, if Jones comes back as expected, then Cain, and all the prospects, this system will have THE Strongest pen in the entire MLB. Agreed. Putnam, Petricka, and Guerra also have to prove that they're not one year flukes. If they can pitch like they did last year, this bullpen is in pretty good shape. -
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 10:53 AM) Ok I'm tired of Spring Training now. Bring the season plz. Same here. I love baseball as much as anything, but it's hard to take Spring Training too seriously. I want the games to actually mean something at this point.

Who would play third if Conor was out for an extended period of time? Beckham? Bleh. -

I love Nate Jones. I hope he recovers and makes a contribution to this team. He could make a big difference if he's healthy. -

I'm calling BS on this. If he wasn't looking for "top dollar" in a contract, he would've signed an extension with the Sox already. -
QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 09:21 PM) Noooo. Austin will be in A ball. He's a ways off and is nowhere near a lock to make it to the bigs. I was pretty sure that was the case. But with the way Rodon is pitching today, it seems like he's really comfortable with Austin behind the plate.
-
Do you think Austin gets called up when Rodon gets called up just so he's his personal catcher?
