  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 18, 2015 -> 10:27 PM) I'd trade Melky in a blockbuster and acquire some pieces for him. I don't see the Sox trading Melky right after signing him only a month or two ago. But you never know with Hahn.
  2. Ricketts is an idiot. Also, he's hideous looking. He looks like a squirrel on crack.
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 17, 2015 -> 09:51 AM) Rodon is going to be a part of this rotation at some point next year. We'll also have two of our top four pitching prospects at AA in Montas & Danish and two wild card prospects at AAA in Beck & Johnson. We'll actually have some interesting options if we need a starter later this year. Do you see Montas as a starter long term? I thought I saw somewhere that he projects to be a closer.
  4. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 17, 2015 -> 07:14 AM) Do you really believe WAR is that accurate for catchers? I think WAR is a nice stat, but it's not an end all be all type of thing. I mean what is the definition of a replacement player anyway?
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 16, 2015 -> 04:33 PM) Are you kidding? Amaro is ready to sign him to a 5 year 100 million dollar contract This made me laugh. Well done.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 10:05 PM) You know what would be a good tradeoff: Dump Danks for Buehrle in our rotation. Mark's style of pitching rubs off on others and he always sets a good example. Danks arguably has better stuff, but I'd take the tradeoff. I realize Mark makes a ton of money now, though. I can't rip the Sox front office since they've added a lot of salary already since last season, but in theory ... I'd be all for this. I'd take this version of Buehrle over Danks anyday.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 08:33 PM) Problem with that idea is Sanchez. He might be the most useful piece from that list, but the Stros are already sitting on an all star 2b in Altuve. I'd be interested in Sanchez as a team with a hole at 2b where putting a decent player in there would be an upgrade and that isn't the Astros. Do you think Sanchez could be an everyday MLB shortstop? If so, the Astros might have a use for him. Otherwise, I'd have to agree. I didn't think of Altuve. He's one of the best around.
  8. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 08:08 PM) Like someone said, Trayce Thompson + would be nice. But that's probly pretty homer. I'd give up Thompson/Beck/Sanchez/one low level prospect. No more than that.
  9. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 07:57 PM) I am a big Nate Jones fan and I would loooooove to see him come back healthy and pitch well. Same here. He'd make the bullpen that much better.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 06:11 PM) Noesi 1.95 mil I would have given him less money than Guerra FWIW.
  11. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 04:54 PM) Likely no with Jennings and Duke in the fold. Is Jennings better than Surkamp? I've never seen Jennings pitch.
  12. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 11:25 AM) And you refer to yourself in the third person. I love it! Is that the real Brian Anderson? Or just some guy pretending to be him?
  13. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) I like it, his arb was projected to be $1.3 mil. He didn't do bad last year, we could do worse with $900K. Robertson, Petricka, Duke, Putnam, Webb, Guerra, Jennings/Garcia. Guerra bumps out Cleto. What about Eric Surkamp? Does he not make the team?
  14. I like this deal. 900K isn't a ton of money, and Guerra is a solid reliever. I'm not sure what role he'll have on the team though. Maybe a 6th-7th inning guy along with Putnam?
  15. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 06:07 AM) And I'm really surprised they didn't catch on to that. Keep in mind that I'm pretty new to this forum. I'll try to remember all the "lingo" around here.
  16. I'm not sure why everyone loves this signing. He was drafted by the Sox, and was part of the World Series team, but he's toast now. Leury Garcia is a better hitter than him. It's a nice story and everything, but there's no chance he makes the roster unless a ton of guys get injured.
  17. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 07:18 PM) And when Eaton goes down with the inevitable leg injury a few months in who exactly will be taking his spot in CF? J.B. Shuck? Yeah, not so much, the job will go to the elite defender playing with renewed vigor and is well accustomed with White Sox culture. This is a brilliant move. I just don't see it. Sure, Anderson is a good defender. The problem is that he can't hit worth sh!t. Essentially, he is the right handed version of Jordan Danks.
  18. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 06:53 PM) Starting centerfielder by June. Have you ever heard of a guy named Adam Eaton? Anderson won't be anything more than a 4th outfielder and that's if he even makes the team (which is unlikely).
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 05:52 AM) I would think that putting up the worst season in the history of the sport should automatically exclude one from all HOF talk I agree with this. Maybe it's because his first year with the Sox was horrifically awful, but I never liked Dunn. Not one bit.
  20. I'd love Scherzer or Shields too, but it's just not realistic. I didn't think of Van Slyke. Isn't he similar to Viciedo though?
  21. I'd have to say Ryan Vogelsong. He's a right handed starter that can eat up innings. If you were in Rick Hahn's shoes, who would you want to get to complete the offseason? Looking forward to seeing y'all's opinion. Thanks, Mike
  22. The Sox should at least throw a bid out there for him. He's a nice arm to have solely for depth if nothing else. It's a low risk/high reward type of move.
  23. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jan 6, 2015 -> 05:59 PM) This has been a perfect offseason but I might have signed Andrew Miller over David Robertson because he fits that mold of being a traditional closer with the high velocity more than Roberston who tops out at 94. Miller has never been the "closer" on any team he's ever been on. I wouldn't shell out $30 Million+ for a good reliever that might not be able to close games.
  24. I'm a newer member on here, but this forum is quickly becoming one of my favorites. There seems to be a ton of nice people here and they're all Sox fans. What could be better?
