I haven't forgotten about last offseason. I'm not expecting the Sox to sign any notable free agents anymore. I'd be more than happy if they proved me wrong though.
I hate the Sox current starting rotation situation as much as anyone, but trading for half a year of Andrew Cashner doesn't make much sense to me. The guy has a 4.73 ERA. While that's better than pretty much everyone the Sox currently have other than Giolito, it's not like Cashner would make that much of an impact.
I wonder what Caleb Smith of the Marlins or John Means of the Orioles would cost in a trade. Both are young, left handed starting pitchers with a lot of team control. Might be easier to get a starting pitcher through a trade than through free agency.
Agreed. He becomes really intriguing if he can hit even a little bit. I don't know a whole lot about most of the guys they have taken, but I'm glad they are taking a lot of pitching.
With our luck he's just trolling us, but man I would be so happy if Keuchel signed with the Sox. Get him on board, call up Cease, and there's no reason why the Sox can't be the 2nd AL Wild Card team this year.
