  1. Harper to the Phillies is the best case scenario for us as of now in my opinion. That would probably take them out of the Machado race.
  2. How many more posts does this thread need to become the biggest in SoxTalk history?
  3. This would be so much easier if Machado would be a team player and play 3rd base. Shifting Anderson and Moncada around is a terrible idea.
  4. I'm not really sure their fanbase is all that bigger than ours. And as far as winning goes, they'll probably have more wins than the Sox next year, but they're in a much tougher division and I like the Sox collection of talent a lot better.
  5. If the money is equal, I can't think of one good reason why he would choose the Phillies over the Sox.
  6. This forum seems a lot more pessimistic about this whole thing today as opposed to yesterday. Ugh.
  7. Somehow the Sox sign Harper, get a Silver Slugger type season from him, and still finish 5 games worse than last year in this simulation. Lol that is insanity.
  8. I'll be beyond irate if he signs elsewhere and has just been trolling us this whole time.
  9. It's a video of his framed jersey alongside Alonso's. He starts the video focused on Alonso's jersey and then pans it to his own. Very interesting.
  10. If this is true, aren't the Sox essentially guaranteed to get Machado? I can't see Philadelphia signing both of them.
  11. How would the Sox be in the final 2 if their offer is that low? That doesn't even make any sense.
  12. If the Sox were only offering 200 million at this point, they wouldn't even be considered anymore. It's not true.
  13. It's easy to look at a situation like this with the benefit of hindsight. At the time, calling him up when they did made sense because he did nothing but hit in the short time he was in the minors. But given that he ended up being a bust for lack of a better word, it's only fair to think about how his career would have fared if he had proper development time in the minors. He is the main reason why I don't want the Sox to move Anderson and Moncada to different positions.
  14. I think a lot of it was also because he was rushed. He didn't have that many minor league at-bats before being called up if I remember correctly. I really thought he was going to be a star after his rookie year, it's a shame it didn't work out.
  15. I wonder what would have happened if the Sox kept Gordon Beckham at 3rd base after his rookie year. That was by far the best season of his career from a offensive standpoint. Gotta wonder if having to learn 2nd base impacted his hitting.
  16. I'm trying. I actually really like the Sox chances of getting Machado as of now if the Yankees are indeed out of the race, it's just so frustrating for this to carry on day after day. I guess the wait is worth it though if the end result is what we want.
  17. True. I just want this situation to come to a resolution one way or another. It was fun to follow along with all the rumors a couple weeks ago but that ship sailed long ago. The whole thing is aggravating now. He needs to make a decision so we can all move on with our lives.
  18. I'm probably reading way too deeply into things at this point. Machado himself might not even know that walk way is called that.
  19. There is a neon light filled walk way at O'Hare called "Sky's The Limit". Machado was proven to be at O'Hare a couple weeks ago when he had that original meeting with the Sox (that has been confirmed on Twitter). Whether that "Sky's The Limit" picture he posted on his story last night is a photo of a sign at O'Hare I really don't know but I'm just trying to put 2 and 2 together. There's probably a way to reverse image search that photo to see where it was taken but I don't know how to do it. Either way it doesn't really seem like a coincidence to me.
