  1. There is a neon light filled walk way at O'Hare called "Sky's The Limit". Machado was proven to be at O'Hare a couple weeks ago when he had that original meeting with the Sox (that has been confirmed on Twitter). Whether that "Sky's The Limit" picture he posted on his story last night is a photo of a sign at O'Hare I really don't know but I'm just trying to put 2 and 2 together. There's probably a way to reverse image search that photo to see where it was taken but I don't know how to do it. Either way it doesn't really seem like a coincidence to me.
  2. I used to be all-in on the Harper hype train, but I think Manny is a better fit for the Sox. Barring something catastrophic, we should be able to pencil in Eloy and Robert for 2 of the 3 outfield spots moving forward. And then the Sox have several other guys that could win the other job (most likely RF if Eloy is in LF and Robert plays CF). They have very few if any good 3rd base prospects heading forward though. Being able to have Machado at that position would be absolutely huge.
  3. Hahn and Klentak should just come to an agreement where the Phillies stop pursuing Machado and the Sox stop pursuing Harper. That way they each get their guy and both teams win. Although that kinda sounds like collusion lol.
  4. And he's also close with Zack Collins from what I've read. It's a match made in heaven!
  5. And he's also from Miami so he's probably friends with Manny lol
  6. And the Sox wouldn't have to forfeit a draft pick to sign him next offseason either. This is perfect.
  7. This is the best case scenario for the Sox as far as Grandal goes. It buys them another year to evaluate Collins and Zavala to see if they have a future at the catchers spot. If they don't see much in either of those guys, they can get Grandal next offseason instead.
  8. I really thought this would happen tonight. So much for that I guess.
  9. I haven't showered since the Sox first showed interest in Machado.
  10. The Sox can't bank on Alonso/Jay giving them the edge. Need to offer the most money regardless.
  11. If the Phillies are really spending "stupid money", now is when they would do it. Let's hope they cheap out.
  12. Agreed. If it's down to the Sox and the Phillies, I'm confident he would pick us. I've been a lot more worried about the Yankees than the Phillies this whole time.
  13. This is huge if true. It's been said multiple times that Machado isn't all that fond of Philadelphia and having Alonso/Jay works in our favor as well. Gotta offer the most money regardless though.
  14. Wildstein is a Yankees fanboy, so this is a good thing. A very good thing.
  15. If nothing else, I am 100% sure at this point that Dan Clark's report is a load of crap.
  16. These kinds of tweets drive me crazy. They don't even try to be unbiased.
  17. Like others have said, I think the Phillies are out on Machado and thus focusing all their attention on Harper...hence the meeting they are having with him in Vegas this weekend. That leaves the Sox and the Yankees for Machado. The Yankees don't necessarily need him, but they are interested anyway just because they can obviously afford him if they truly wanted him and also because they are his favorite childhood team. I would have to think that the Sox have a better offer than New York in terms of both years and dollars, and Machado is weighing his options right now. The Alonso trade/Jay signing are most likely tactics by the Sox to try to sway Machado if he's on the fence. As of now, I think the odds are slightly in the Sox favor based on the reasons listed above and also because of the news we heard yesterday, but that can change fast.
  18. Why do all you guys want to rush him, especially in a year where the Sox probably won't be competing and have Anderson/Moncada in the middle infield already? The last thing I want is a Gordon Beckham 2.0 situation where Madrigal is called up way too early and doesn't get the proper development time in the minors.
  19. Seems kinda far-fetched that a random Reddit user would know about a deal of this magnitude before anyone else, but hey, I guess you never know.
  20. This sounds silly, but did the Sox hold an official press conference for Yonder Alonso yet? If not, my thought is that they want to announce Alonso, Jay, and Machado at the same time (like they did with Melky, Samardzija, and Robertson a few years ago).
