  1. If this is true, aren't the Sox essentially guaranteed to get Machado? I can't see Philadelphia signing both of them.
  2. How would the Sox be in the final 2 if their offer is that low? That doesn't even make any sense.
  3. If the Sox were only offering 200 million at this point, they wouldn't even be considered anymore. It's not true.
  4. It's easy to look at a situation like this with the benefit of hindsight. At the time, calling him up when they did made sense because he did nothing but hit in the short time he was in the minors. But given that he ended up being a bust for lack of a better word, it's only fair to think about how his career would have fared if he had proper development time in the minors. He is the main reason why I don't want the Sox to move Anderson and Moncada to different positions.
  5. I think a lot of it was also because he was rushed. He didn't have that many minor league at-bats before being called up if I remember correctly. I really thought he was going to be a star after his rookie year, it's a shame it didn't work out.
  6. I wonder what would have happened if the Sox kept Gordon Beckham at 3rd base after his rookie year. That was by far the best season of his career from a offensive standpoint. Gotta wonder if having to learn 2nd base impacted his hitting.
  7. I'm trying. I actually really like the Sox chances of getting Machado as of now if the Yankees are indeed out of the race, it's just so frustrating for this to carry on day after day. I guess the wait is worth it though if the end result is what we want.
  8. True. I just want this situation to come to a resolution one way or another. It was fun to follow along with all the rumors a couple weeks ago but that ship sailed long ago. The whole thing is aggravating now. He needs to make a decision so we can all move on with our lives.
  9. I'm probably reading way too deeply into things at this point. Machado himself might not even know that walk way is called that.
  10. There is a neon light filled walk way at O'Hare called "Sky's The Limit". Machado was proven to be at O'Hare a couple weeks ago when he had that original meeting with the Sox (that has been confirmed on Twitter). Whether that "Sky's The Limit" picture he posted on his story last night is a photo of a sign at O'Hare I really don't know but I'm just trying to put 2 and 2 together. There's probably a way to reverse image search that photo to see where it was taken but I don't know how to do it. Either way it doesn't really seem like a coincidence to me.
  11. I used to be all-in on the Harper hype train, but I think Manny is a better fit for the Sox. Barring something catastrophic, we should be able to pencil in Eloy and Robert for 2 of the 3 outfield spots moving forward. And then the Sox have several other guys that could win the other job (most likely RF if Eloy is in LF and Robert plays CF). They have very few if any good 3rd base prospects heading forward though. Being able to have Machado at that position would be absolutely huge.
  12. Hahn and Klentak should just come to an agreement where the Phillies stop pursuing Machado and the Sox stop pursuing Harper. That way they each get their guy and both teams win. Although that kinda sounds like collusion lol.
  13. And he's also close with Zack Collins from what I've read. It's a match made in heaven!
  14. And he's also from Miami so he's probably friends with Manny lol
  15. And the Sox wouldn't have to forfeit a draft pick to sign him next offseason either. This is perfect.
  16. This is the best case scenario for the Sox as far as Grandal goes. It buys them another year to evaluate Collins and Zavala to see if they have a future at the catchers spot. If they don't see much in either of those guys, they can get Grandal next offseason instead.
  17. I really thought this would happen tonight. So much for that I guess.
  18. I haven't showered since the Sox first showed interest in Machado.
  19. The Sox can't bank on Alonso/Jay giving them the edge. Need to offer the most money regardless.
  20. If the Phillies are really spending "stupid money", now is when they would do it. Let's hope they cheap out.
