  1. FWIW, Heyman tweeted this just over an hour ago. I find it hard to believe that they went from "waiting for the market to play out" on Machado to him for sure signing there in that short of a time span.
  2. Machado hasn't been tied to that city/organization for months at this point. How is that relevant now?
  3. This is as SoxTalk as it gets. Can anyone tell me what news this Dan Clark has broken before that makes his words 100% credible?
  4. Unless it's Rosenthal, Heyman, Morosi, etc tweeting it, I'm taking rumors from everyone else with a grain of salt.
  5. Color me skeptical. I don't know why that guy would be the first to know about a deal of this magnitude.
  6. Does anyone know if Encarnacion and Machado are close or have some sort of friendship? If so, this idea could make sense. This offseason: - Sox trade for Encarnacion and get a prospect or two for taking on his salary. - Sox trade Abreu for a prospect or two. - Encarnacion is another tool to help recruit Machado to the Sox. Alonso at 1B, Encarnacion at DH next season. Next offseason: - Encarnacion departs via free agency. - The Sox bring back Abreu as a free agent. - Alonso's option vests, bringing him back to the Sox for another season. Alonso at 1B, Abreu at DH in 2020. While this seems far fetched, I guess it isn't entirely impossible.
  7. Unless they can get Haniger too as part of a trade with Seattle, acquiring just Encarnacion makes no sense to me.
  8. After going through some of his other posts...very rarely does it seem like he likes any of the comments. Interesting.
  9. And Yonder Alonso made both a post and a story about Manny Machado on Instagram today as well.
  10. Yeah I guess I wouldn't mind it if his contract was similar to what Maeda got. We'll see.
  11. Does anyone else want the Sox to stay away from Kikuchi? I don't know a whole lot about him, but it seems as if he's had his fair share of injury concerns. And his Japanese Leage stats aren't even close to being as good as Masahiro Tanaka or even Kenta Maeda. Just seems like a risky move to me.
  12. I remember I used to live and die in every game thread years ago. For whatever reason I stopped using this forum for awhile but I'm glad I rediscovered it. I love it. And yeah, if a mod can change my username that would be great. Thanks!
  13. I commented "Help recruit Manny to the South Side Yonder!" and he liked it so Machado to the Sox confirmed ?
  14. I agree, the past couple weeks have been extremely irritating. Constantly refreshing these forums, Twitter, etc to see if there's any updates gets tiring after awhile. But I'm willing to deal with it if the Sox are ultimately able to get one of them. It's just a waiting game at this point, hopefully we start to see some movement after the New Year.
  15. All I know is that the quality of the forum has improved significantly since Peavy has stopped posting.
  16. I like the Dylan Bundy idea. Former #4 overall pick with good stuff and 3 years of control left. He didn't have a good season at all last year so I wonder what it would take to get him knowing that the Orioles are still at the beginning of their rebuild and looking to accumulate prospects. He's worth a shot if the price isn't too high.
  17. Starting pitching is the main reason why the Orioles have progressively been getting worse and worse...not Britton and Jones. So it's not like the Sox would be "reuniting the Orioles as a rebuilding strategy". Obviously those two aren't as good as they used to be but they are still productive players and would make the Sox a better team. Add in the fact that they are close with Machado and it's just a bonus.
  18. 1. Paul Konerko 2. Jim Thome 3. Chris Sale 4. Jose Quintana 5. Mark Buehrle
