  1. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I don't see any reason to have Yolmer as the starting 3rd baseman moving forward. We know what he is at this point. A good utility guy. Not a MLB caliber starting 3rd baseman.
  2. You cannot say with a straight face that Yolmer is a better player than Moustakas, even if WAR says otherwise.
  3. He's alright as a utility guy. But those that don't want to spend any money this offseason and go into next season with him as the starting 3rd baseman are smoking crack.
  4. Edwin Diaz was taken in the 3rd round of the 2012 MLB Draft. The White Sox had 2 picks in that draft before Diaz was taken. You know who the Sox drafted? Courtney Hawkins and Chris Beck.
  5. For me, it comes down to this: I don't know if the Sox getting Machado/Harper is a possibility, but even if it isn't, there is zero excuse for the Sox to not be active in free agency. I do not want to watch another 63-99 season while guys like Moncada, Lopez, Rodon, Eloy burn another year of control.
  6. Not saying this is realistic or even a possibility, but would if you're the Sox, would you consider taking on Cano's whole contract if they included Edwin Diaz as well?
  7. What's wrong with guys like Brantley and Moustakas on 2 year deals? They might not be on the roster when the Sox are a World Series contender but they would make the team better in the short run and add veteran presences in the clubhouse.
  8. So basically what you're saying is that the Sox shouldn't do anything as far as free agency goes if they miss out on Harper and Machado? Because if that's your point, I 100% disagree.
  9. Yeah but I don't think they would get both if they signed Corbin. So the Sox would have a better chance to get whoever the Phillies don't sign.
  10. I have no idea why SS2k5 is so against the Sox spending money. Even if the Sox don't get Harper/Machado, I'd rather see them spend money on guys like Brantley and Moustakas and make the team somewhat competitive next year than do nothing and have a repeat of 2018.
  11. I've seen people pushing the Syndergaard to the White Sox idea. I don't understand that either. Why would the Sox trade a significant package of prospects for an injury prone pitcher with the same amount of team control as Carlos Rodon?
  12. They wouldn't have had to give up a draft pick to sign Donaldson. And they have so much money to spend, a 1 year deal isn't going to make or break the future of this team.
  13. What if signing Donaldson helped them land a "whale" like Harper? To say that it doesn't matter who plays 3B for the Sox next year just isn't correct.
  14. What's the alternative? Run Yolmer out there at 3rd for another year? No thanks.
  15. Where did I say that? All I'm saying is that Donaldson would have made the lineup significantly better next year and the Sox would have had a somewhat interesting trade deadline piece if they were out of the race by midseason.
  16. No it wouldn't have. You'd have to be a fool to rather have Yolmer play 3rd base than Donaldson, even if it was only for a year.
  17. Donaldson would have been a perfect short term solution at 3rd base for the Sox. Sigh.
  18. This period of inactivity is driving me crazy. Someone needs to do something already.
  19. I like Richards too, but injuries are a big concern with him. He's only started more than 30 games in a season once and that was in 2015. The talent is there, I just don't know if he can stay on the field enough to make a potential contract worth it for the Sox.
  20. I wouldn't be opposed to it if that was the case, though I can't imagine that signing 38 year old Nelson Cruz would sway their decision to sign here or not.
  21. Unless they get one of Harper/Machado, I don't understand the point of Cruz. Might as well let Palka DH full time in that case.
