I'm curious in knowing when Asche's number retirement and statue unveiling will be.

QUOTE (Yoda @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 07:42 AM) Will you guys be friends at least? A couple of years ago I was head over heels with this girl who was not looking for a relationship so we ended up just being friends. Went to a couple of Sox games, concerts, and all that but remained just friends. Fast forward to today and I'm living a happy life with my gf (whom I met online a little less than 2 years ago) and our 4 month old baby and let me tell you, things do happen for a reason. I wouldn't have it any other way. Wife her up.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 11, 2017 -> 10:08 AM) Why is Cody Asche on the roster? 1. They need to fill an MLB roster without rushing guys to the majors. 2. Guys in minors need seasoning. 3. Service time on younger guys in minors. 4. He was once a top prospect so why not. 5. He probably won't be on this team come June. I love you.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 11, 2017 -> 10:00 AM) Hinted towards them being clearly in the mix while not really mentioning the player by name Thanks. I saw Dave mention it but I didn't think there was any way he'd give a definite answer.

I don't have time to listen to this right now. Would anyone be kind enough to tell me if Hahn said anything about Robert?

I will go into the fetal position and cry for a month if Glasnow is the headliner in a Quintana trade.

QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 12:25 PM) 9K 0BB through 4.0IP for Cooper on just 51 pitches so far. Do you think he'll be a Major Leaguer at some point?

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) The people who are in on the "campaign" have mentioned the fact it's more of the idea of getting a high pick than actually getting Seth Beer. I'm not sure why the people who don't want to tank have to come in here and s*** all over the idea. You're obviously entitled to your opinion but so are the people who want to lose to get a higher pick. This is pretty much how I feel as well. I personally really like Beer and think he has superstar potential, but to me, it's more about getting the super high draft pick. Getting Beer would be nice, but I'm not going to cry if it doesn't work out either. The Sox should be in the position to get a stud in 2018 whether it's Beer or someone else.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 09:39 AM) Done. How much? If the mods/admins are cool with it, then I'm definitely down for a friendly wager.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 09:37 AM) Could happen. I wouldn't be making the same bet with other people if I were you though. You need to go study up on draft history and how teams think before making blanket statements. If Seth Beer were named Eric Martin, there wouldn't be Sox fans wanting to tank for him. There's a chance that the Sox get a better player at #11 this year than Beer will even end up being but nobody is talking about the 2017 draft due to a catchy hashtag. I said as of today. Of course things change. The 2018 draft isn't for another year + a couple months. But like I said, I don't think there's any reason why Beer wouldn't be a top 15 pick in 2018 as of today.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 09:19 AM) At Soxfest, Hostetler said that they have reports about Beer going all the way back to when he was 14 years old. They weren't scouting him then. At this point, Beer looks like a mid-late 1st round pick in the 2018 draft. He still has a full college season after this one. This isn't even like the 5th most important topic that pertains to the Sox right now. I would bet any amount of money that Beer would be a top 15 pick in the 2018 draft as of today.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 09:22 AM) Rooker isn't even on top 100 draft prospect lists. I reached out to Callis, Crawford, and Manuel about it this weekend. They all were in agreement that he'll move up because teams love college bats but it won't be some meteoric rise to the level of Andrew Benintendi. Rooker could be a 1st rounder. Probably won't be a top half of the draft guy though. Maybe the Sox can get him in the 2nd round then.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 09:16 AM) If they are scouting 14 year olds, no wonder they have drafted so poorly. It's a total waste of scouting resources. He was in 7th grade. Why scout guys 5 to 7 years away from being drafted? So much changes. Your scouting report as a 14 year old becomes totally irrelevant. I really have no idea how to answer your question. I would assume that scouting 14 year olds isn't the norm, but Beer was probably so good then that the Sox showed very early interest in him.

There's been a lot of buzz lately about Mississippi State's Brent Rooker lately. Admittedly I don't know a ton about him but his stats are eye-popping. I hope the Sox are considering him at pick #11.
-
I read somewhere that the Sox have been scouting Beer since has was 14 years old. How high will he be drafted? I really don't know. I do know that the Sox should and would consider him if he's still on the board at their pick in the 2018 draft.

QUOTE (AJUribe @ Apr 9, 2017 -> 11:45 PM) I've heard whispers he may be available by the trade deadline. From my sources losing the first two starts have tempered interests in a few possibly contending team. Teams that were interested do want to acquire the southpaw from southern hemisphere and are now quietly rooting for the young man to have an inflated era in the hopes they can somehow get a better deal. Basically Q is going to be awful for us because it is simply impossible for him to care when he knows he's getting traded and it completely effects his entire psyche. Hahn's a ballbreaker and l think he'd rather sit on Q before taking a penny less than his preseason asking price. Okay...

Benetti is very mediocre.

QUOTE (Yoda @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 11:01 AM) You never hear about a 4th date because after the 3rd you don't refer to your meetups anymore as "dates." The 3rd date usually ends up like this: A. Go out for dinner one more time and then invite her over to your place. OR B. You're not going anywhere after dinner and will remain in the friend zone thus not wanting to pursue anything more w/ that person as far as social meet-ups. If A. goes well Netflix and Chill will be a daily occurrence and they'll end up looking forward to seeing each other on a daily basis. If A. doesn't go very well, then that's it. The attempt was made and hey at least he won't be asking "what if." This seems like pretty solid life advice. Thanks.

QUOTE (Yoda @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 10:17 AM) I think we can all agree we're interested in seeing the outcome of Date #3. There's currently 11 Guests just reading this topic... What would you say the odds are on them hooking up?

QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 11:52 PM) I disagree. Or at the least, I think that's changing and has changed. I am not sure how old you are but I know you're older than me. But as a millennial, I think it has changed because of social media and yoga pants among other things. The whole instagram thing and women's clothing style changes is all catered towards girls' butts. I remember when I was a freshman in high school (I am pretty young) and girls started wearing yoga pants to school and it was mind-blowing for the guys. Once a few girls started wearing them everyone did. Guys would gossip about girls when they were wearing yoga pants. I remember a friend coming up to me and saying, "Did you see Victoria?" and I said no and he said, "She's wearing those tight black elastic-y pants today. You should see her butt." We didn't even know they were called yoga pants. Just like the girls with great boobs tend to show cleavage, the girls with the great butts were more likely to wear yoga pants. Yoga pants changed everything for white people. By the time I was senior, not only were guys (all guys, black guys, white guys, etc.) obsessed with butts, but girls who started working out to better their bodies were showing their butts in progress pictures just as often as they would show stomach. I am sure this is weird for the older guys to hear but when I was first on Myspace, Xanga, Facebook (7th-9th grade) girls would edit their picture to make their boobs bigger. When I got older, the girls would edit the pictures to bring in their sides and extenuate their butts. There are plenty of girls who brag about doing squats. If I were to generalize white dudes I'd say they were definitely late to the butt craze but they're probably split at this point. Of course it's not as likely for a white dude to be into ass as a black guy, but to your point, white dudes, in general, lean toward skinnier figures where black dudes gravitate towards thicker girls. Nobody would argue you on that. In the black community, asses are essential to the "dream girl." In the white community, it's always about blonde girls. Who cares about hair color. I just don't get the guys who have a "type." Whether it's looks or personality, there are so many guys that just keep ending up with a girl who is just like the girl before them. With me it has always been, I am attracted to a girl to some varying extent, I end up talking to her and if we have chemistry, I start to notice all the good things about her. I've never seen such an extensive analysis on this subject. Lol.

Am I the only one that constantly confuses flavum and fathom? Lol.

Honestly I don't think I've ever been less excited to see the Sox winning a game.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 11:05 AM) Quintana starting Sunday. The Sox have made a lot of mistakes this week. He started on Tuesday... You're just complaining for the sake of complaining now.
