  1. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2015 -> 01:55 PM) Hopefully it works, but you have a guy that owns Q followed by the struggling Martinez. Exactly.
  2. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 7, 2015 -> 01:07 PM) I was looking for some differentiation between mine and everyone else's but couldn't find one. Thanks. I didn't expect shinnicks to be closed. Yes. The guys are dancing in the dugout right now. Bonifacio is hilarious. I'm glad the Sox paid him 4 million dollars to dance around like an idiot, because he sure as hell doesn't do anything on the field.
  3. QUOTE (South Sider @ May 7, 2015 -> 10:11 AM) 83 uniforms 'til a loss. And if we go on the road, road 83's too. Might as well just bring that uniform back. It was so 80s, but a few decades later I really like the look. Do they even have road 83's?
  4. Are they wearing the '83 unis again? They should.
  5. Like others have said, these past few starts were essentially Sale's Spring Training. He'll turn it around. He just needs some time to get his legs underneath him.
  6. We are 3 minutes in and the game is already over lol.
  7. Samardzija is trash, I'm glad the Sox didn't sign him to an extension.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 4, 2015 -> 05:44 PM) If your core is guys who are in AA and AAA then you shouldn't be spending $50 million on guys for this season. I'm just saying those guys are complementary pieces. The guys signed for $50 million are a part of the long term plans too, so the young guys can eventually make an impact in the big leagues with the mainstays on the team.
  9. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 4, 2015 -> 04:54 PM) You're missing the point. The organization invested in flawed players to go from bad to mediocre. It reminds me of something the Mets would do. They should have focused on rebuilding the core. Right now, your young core is a slap hitting RF that weighs 250 pounds and is laughably bad on defense, a chronically injured slap hitting CF and a slap hitting 2nd baseman that can't hit a fastball and has poor baserunning technique to go along with bad hands.. That's not a core to build around IMO. Obviously, I'm not including Sale, Quintana and Abreu. I don't see the other players as anything worth building around or being major contributors. What about Rodon, Sanchez, Montas, Anderson, Danish, etc? Aren't those all players that are worth building around? Obviously none of them will likely be superstar quality (except for Rodon maybe), but they're all young, talented players that should be part of the core IMO.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2015 -> 04:46 PM) The problem isn't this team is too laid back. It is that they are wound too tight. And seriously, the idea that a manager would have to give "incentive" to a team to get better is just silly. This is the major leagues. If you can find incentive in things like "winning" and huge f***ing contracts, you aren't cut out for baseball. I may have worded it poorly, but that's what I was trying to get across. It looks like all these players want to do is to show up, play poorly, and then collect their check. I would think a manager should get his team to want to win, and not just focus on themselves and individuality.
  11. QUOTE (LDF @ May 4, 2015 -> 04:43 PM) i am glad you are saying this, i truly hope you are right. but do you really think they can rally enuf to make up for the losses. Maybe they can, maybe they can't; we'll just have to see what happens. All I know is this: The Sox are a lot better than they played this week. Whether they can play catch-up and leapfrog the Tigers and KC is yet to be seen, but I think they'll at least make it interesting. The 2nd Wild Card spot gives them more of a chance. They're only a few games out, right?
  12. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 4, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) They slumped early. I am a firm believer in that. I still think they should s***can RV though. You have no disagreement with me on your last point. These players are a lot more talented than they have shown so far, but Robin has been a subpar manager in his entire tenure with the Sox. Something needs to change. Whether it's Gardenhire, Ozzie again, whatever, they need a fresh face in the clubhouse. Robin is so laid back that he never gives incentive to the players to get any better.
  13. If and when the Sox start winning, we'll look back and laugh how we all argued like a bunch of nitwits over nothing. Winning games solves everything. It's only a matter of time when they'll turn it around. They're not that bad, they just had a horrible week.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2015 -> 07:09 PM) If this season falls apart they're not going to spend $100-120 million to fix it on a single pitcher who probably isn't even an ace in the first place. (For another reason, they would be MUCH better off allocating that money across 3-5 areas of weakness instead of putting it all in one basket.) Exactly. Samardzija isn't an ace and he shouldn't be paid like one either.
  15. Maybe Ramirez, LaRoche, Bonifacio, Samardzija, etc just to name a few. Who do you think the Sox will trade if they decide to sell?
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ May 3, 2015 -> 05:10 PM) At the time Ventura was hired, Parent was way more qualified than Robin. Now? Clean house, please. All of them. It seemed like everyone loved Cooper, but I was never particularly fond of him. I would give him the boot too, even though he's been here the longest.
  17. QUOTE (TitoMB @ May 3, 2015 -> 04:49 PM) #FireRobin is my new favorite twitter tag. I think I just went through and retweeted like, 30 tweets with it. Let's get it trending! I've started to use that hashtag too haha.
