  1. A defensive wizard like that has value, but it would be puzzling since they already have Anderson at that spot.
  2. In all seriousness, is this guy any good? His stats in Cuba don't look all that inspiring.
  3. I want this to happen just to see a Yoan/Yolbert/Yolmer/Yonder infield come to fruition
  4. But Cubs fans told me all offseason that they could easily afford Bryce Harper!
  5. That's probably true. All I know is that Happ would be a nice fit for the Sox if they could swing a deal for him. He would have everyday at-bats at CF in a low pressure situation. He's not perfect by any means but I'd take him over Engel or Leury in a heartbeat.
  6. If the Sox were solely looking for someone to eat innings, then Santana makes more sense since he's a veteran. But they already have Nova to do that job. The potential upside is just so much higher with Banuelos. Not giving him at least a couple starts to audition himself would be silly. Like I said, the odds of him figuring it out aren't all that high but you never know. Nobody thought anything of Jose Quintana when the Sox signed him either.
  7. While the odds of it are slim, Banuelos could provide some sort of value to the Sox heading forward, as he's still fairly young and has a lot of team control should he figure things out. Santana is a 36 year old who is only here to eat innings and get flipped at the deadline. And it's not like they would get anything of note for him anyway. Banuelos should get much more of an opportunity.
  8. The rotation obviously has a number of question marks, but man, this team is really going to hit. We'll probably see a lot of 10-8 games this year.
  9. The Sox will get one of Rutschman, Vaughn, or Witt no matter what. Not a terrible spot to be in.
  10. I literally have no recollection of him ever being an All Star.
  11. I never really expected it to happen, but I was holding out a sliver of hope that he would come back. This sucks.
  12. This thread wasn't meant to trash Burger at all. I love the guy and hope he succeeds as much as he possibly can. He just looks bigger than I remembered, that's all.
  13. I'm really close to losing all hope for Giolito. He just isn't good.
  14. Eh, it's just a mock lineup. The point is that they should still be able to put together a good lineup looking forward even without Machado/Harper.
  15. It's tough to put together future lineups, but here goes. LF: Eloy CF: Robert RF: JD Martinez/Nick Castellanos 3B: Moncada SS: Anderson 2B: Madrigal 1B: Vaughn DH: Abreu C Collins That really isn't that bad on paper, and not all that unrealistic either.
  16. This Eloy deal would look so much nicer if he was hitting behind Machado in the lineup, but whatever. Draft Vaughn, sign Castellanos/JD Martinez and suddenly this lineup looks pretty good heading forward.
  17. All in all, this certainly doesn't make up for missing on Harper and Machado, but it is a step in the right direction. I'd rather have them do this than have the money burn a hole in Reinsdorf's wallet.
  18. Depending on how he performs this season, I'd like to see the Sox do a deal like this with Moncada as well.
  19. I'm assuming this will buy out a couple free agent years, right?
  20. Moncada walked but took 2 close pitches that could have been strikes. Wish he would be more aggressive.
