  1. The game at Baltimore tonight drew a little over 12,000. The team with the best record in the league is averaging 23,000 a game. The lease on Camden yards expires next year. From what I've been reading the owner of the Orioles isn't too enthused about renewing the lease. The owners son lives in Nashville and there is speculation he wants to move the team to Nashville. The owner said the other day he won't be able to keep this Orioles team together when they become free agents. I can't help but wonder if the days of the Orioles in Baltimore are coming to an end. They could be the team moving to Nashville.
  2. 1) In the 1980s JR wanted a stadium built in Dupage County on land that he owned. 2) JR moved the White Sox spring training from Florida to Tucson Arizona. The stadium was built on land owned by JR. 3) JR just spent $17 million on land by the United Center. JR owns half of the United Center and its parking lots. The United Center was built with private funds. 4) I think its fair to say JR wants the stadium to be built by the United Center on land that he owns. The present stadium was paid thru the hotel/motel tax and the stadium will be paid off in 6 more years. I would think JR would want the same hotel/motel tax to be extended for the new stadium. I can't see him paying millions if not billions of dollars for a new domed stadium that will be privately financed like the United Center was. I wouldn't put it past him to move the team out of state if he doesn't get what he wants.
  3. If the stadium was built in the City of Chicago would they just keep and extend the hotel/motel tax that paid for the present White Sox stadium?
  4. I talked to some Oakland fans at the game last night and they're not too happy about losing their team to Vegas. They pointed out that the owner of the A's is paying for two thirds of the new stadium in Vegas. If he would have done the same thing in Oakland the team would not be moving to Vegas. Obviously he wanted to move the team to Vegas and didn't want to stay in Oakland.
  5. I went to the game last night. As I was walking towards the park a young woman from a radio station approached me and asked if I would like to be interviewed. Naturally i said yes. She asked me if I knew about the shooting that occured the previous night at the game. I said yes I knew about it. She then said, aren't you afraid of being here after last nights shooting? I said no. I've been coming here and the Old Comiskey Park my entire life and there has never been any trouble. Last night was a one time incident. She then said, have you ever been scared going to any sporting event? I said yes. I don't go Wrigley Field anymore because of all the car jackings and armed robberies in that area. She then asked me for my name and thanked me for the interview.
  6. I still don't understand some of it. Who's going to pay for the stadium? I know enough about JR to know he has a plan about a new stadium. I know he spent over $17 million on land by The United Center recently. Maybe the plan is to put a stadium there. We shall see.
  7. This whole situation is really odd. The old Comiskey Park had to be replaced. It was falling apart. There is nothing wrong with the present park. It is not falling down. There is no reason to leave it, none. You would think at 87 years old JR would not concern himself with a new stadium. I do know that if JR wants a new stadium and doesn't get one he definitely has a backup plan. He would move the team out of state if he received an offer from some other city who provided him with a stadium.
  8. If I was the GM Tatis Jr, Madrigal and Burger would still be on the White Sox.
  9. If the White Sox offered Moncada to Miami and agreed to pay all of his salary and wanted Burger in return, does anybody think the Marlins would make the trade?
  10. Roosevelt Road near the Chicago River. This would be southwest of the Loop.
  11. The Rate is till in real good shape. It would be criminal to knock it down in another 7 years. I remember in the early 1980s the City of St. Louis sold there baseball stadium to the baseball Cardinals for next to nothing. Maybe the State of Illinois will sell the stadium to the White Sox ownership.
  12. Driving to the game last night I listened to the SCORE radio station. The announcer said that JR has no intention of extending the present lease. He definitely wants a new stadium. If that is true I know enough about JR that he knows where the new stadium will be. Whether its in the city, suburbs or out of state he knows where he wants the stadium to be.
  13. You posted a few months ago that "your Source" told you that a new stadium was never brought up by anybody. If you believed that you believe in the Easter Bunny.
  14. When the White Sox wanted a new stadium in the 1980s the City of Chicago wanted to build a stadium for the White Sox at Roosevelt and Clark. (Block 78) JR didn't want anything to do with it. Another terrible mistake on JRs part.
  15. And the team is stuck with Moncada thru the 2024 season.
  16. Why was Thompson starting last night instead of Colas? Perhaps Colas isn't part of the team in the future?
  17. The team also has a massive hole at third base. Moncada simply can't hit. Last night he came up to bat 3 times with men on base and did nothing, I wasn't surprised. The only reason why he's on the team is because of his big contract. If he didn't have the big money contract he would be gone. The Cubs released Jason Heywood this past off season. They ate his big contract. The White Sox should have done the same thing with Moncada. We're stuck with Moncada for another year. Hahn traded Tatis Jr, Madrigal and Burger. If they hadn't been traded this team would look alot better. Its bad enough they were traded but they received nothing in return for them. I remember during the 2017 season Hahn traded David Robertson to the Yankees for absolutely nothing. Some people said that he saved the team money by trading him. The problem with that arguement is look at the millions of dollars Hahn has spent and wasted on players who never produced. Its almost as if Hahn is destroying the team intentionally.
  18. SOX WIN, SOX WIN, HOLY COW, SOX WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. No. But keep in mind that Hahn is a lifelong Cubs fan. If the Tigers pay most of the money, Hahn might bring Baez here.
  20. Now that Burger was traded the team is stuck with Moncada for another year. If they traded/released Moncada who plays 3rd base?
  21. I remember reading an article a few weeks ago about Middleton where he said he loved playing for the White Sox here in Chicago. Perhaps he didn't like being traded?
  22. The Bears sell out every game. The Bulls lead the NBA in attendance every year. Neither of those teams have been good for years. I read the other day where the Detroit Lions have sold every ticket to their games this year. The Lions haven't won a playoff game since 1957. Fans like going to the games and support their teams. I'm one of them. I'm going to the game tonight. I'm looking forward to it. I've often wondered if people like yourself who claim to be White Sox fans actually go to the games.
  23. You won't support Anderson because he cheats on his wife? Does that mean you would not have been a fan of Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Ernie Banks, Michael Jordan and Brian Urlacher? All these players cheated on their wives.
  24. If somebody is so miserable watching the White Sox there is a simple solution, stop watching them. I go to the games simply because i like going there.
