I read recently that some billionaire from Nashville wants to buy the Tampa Bay Rays. I'm sure if he buys the team he won't keep the team in St. Pete.

Article in todays Sun Times seems to indicate the Bears might stay at Soldier Field. They seem to think it would be much cheaper for the Bears to stay in Soldier Field than it would in Arlington Heights. If thats true I will think the Bears would stay in Chicago.

No player this year has hurt the Sox as much as Reylo, not close.
WBWSF replied to vilehoopster's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Its a tossup between Lopez and TA. Both have not produced this year. -
The lease expires in 2027. If JR still owns the team some people I've talked too seem to think the lease will be extended for a few more years.

I don't have any links but I remember writer Jerome Holtzman writing about it. Before the final stadium vote Holtzman wrote that Einhorn questioned how big the White Sox fan base actually was. Holtzman pointed out that the team drew over 2 million fans a few years earlier. (in 1983 and 84) Einhorn bad mouthed the white Sox fans so much he was getting threats on his life. He hired body guards and was all set to move to Florida a few days after the stadium vote. Looking back at it I would liked to punched him in the mouth. He did nothing but harm to the franchise when he was here. I was surprised to see him in the parade after they won the 2005 World Series.

Say what you want about JR but he did keep the team in Chicago when Florida wanted the team. Eddie Einhorn wanted to move the team to Florida. Einhorn bad mouthed the White Sox fans so much he actually was in fear of his life and hired body guards to protect him. When the team didn't move to Florida, Einhorn sold most of his shares of the White Sox to JR. Einhorn then disappeared from the scene and was rarely seen in Chicago.

LA Times assesses White Sox/Dodgers trade possibilities
WBWSF replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I can't see TA being traded for much of anything. He can't hit, field or run anymore like he use to. If I was an opposing team needing a shortstop I would not want him. I can't see anybody wanting Moncada either. -
Looks to me like Moncada has no more power. He might not hit another home run this year. Burger has power and Moncada has no power yet Moncada is in the starting lineup every day and Burger is on the bench most of the time. This White Sox manager is lucky that JR didn't hire me as the GM. I would have had a conversation with him and I would have told him to start Burger at third base until further notice. If he didn't do it I would have fired him. Its absolutely crazy to have Moncada starting every day while Burger is not playing. I can't remember anything like this with the team.
-
Could you really blame Burger if he asked to be traded?
-
If he keeps playing like this he won't be playing for anybody in 2025.
-
Moncada plays every day and he's not hitting. Alberto who was just released had more home runs and RBIs than Moncada. Burger is hitting and doesn't play every day. Something has to change here.

A few days ago Ken Williams said that the White Sox are going to win the division this year and will be buyers not sellers at the deadline. I hope he's right.

White Sox Burger Grannie Walk Off Sweep Winner !

Burger has to be in the starting lineup every day. I don't care where he plays, his bat has to be in the lineup every day. -

How are they going to move on from Moncada? -

I can't help but wonder if the White Sox are going to trade Burger. If I was running another team and needed a 3rd baseman I would rather have Burger than Moncada. Moncada isn't going to be traded. He can't hit for power and is making some big money. -

Its not only crazy its out and out terrible. Moncada should be replaced by Burger at third base. Burger is hitting, Moncada is not hitting. The White Sox are stuck with Moncada. No other team will trade for him and pickup his contract. The only way he is traded is if the White Sox eat most of his remaining big contract. -

Moncada can field and can't hit for power anymore. Anderson can't hit and field anymore. I don't see how these 2 can be traded. I can't believe any other team would want them. The White Sox would get next to nothing for them in a trade. So I'm assuming they won't be traded. Burger should be the every day 3rd baseman now.

I got the impression during the whole game that the White Sox tv announcers (jason and Steve) wanted the Tigers to win the game. Perhaps they should be announcing elsewhere.

The Phillies went to the 2022 World Series. They got hot in the playoffs and wound up in the World Series. I don't know anybody who thought they had the best team in the NL. I would be happy to see the White Sox in the 2023 playoffs.

The first time Veeck owned the team he traded Callison, Battey, Romano, Cash and Mincher after the 1959 season. Those trades cost the White Sox at least 2 pennants in the 1960s. At the end of his second ownership he tried moving the team to Denver. There weren't too many White Sox fans who were upset when he sold the team after the 1980 season.

Former White Sox radio announcer Bob Elson once said the only thing Bill Veeck cared about was money.

Why did the downfall happen and could it have been avoided?
WBWSF replied to Dominikk85's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't know if moving to the suburbs would increase their attendance. Last year the White Sox drew over 2 million fans. I've read numerous times that 20% of White Sox fans go the games via public transportation. There 's very little public transportation in the suburbs. -
Garfein: Tim Anderson hates pitch clock, not Chicago
WBWSF replied to superchops70's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If Tim is upset about being here isn't it understandable? He's playing on a team that isn't doing well. AND he has stated a number of times he wants a contract extension and wants to finish his career with the White Sox. The front office has not offered him a contract extension and I'm sure he is not happy about that.
