And That's A Seby Multi-Home Run White Sox Winner
WBWSF replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If the White Sox keep scoring 11 runs every game they will make the 2023 playoffs. -
I can't help but wonder how many MLB GMs are popular with their fans. I would imagine that the fans of the Twins can't possibly be happy with their GM after trading Luis Arraez to Miami. I never understood that trade at the time and I certainly can't understand it now.

Hahn signing Benintendi was one of his best signings. He is a real good player. Signing Santos and Middleton were also good signings. This team hasn't done well this year because of the complete collapses of Anderson and Moncada and the loss of Hendriks. That being said I don't think Hahn will be fired.
-
Money. If JR offered him the most money he might sign here.
-
In all modesty I would have been better off being the owner than the GM.
-
I remember in the 1990s when JR signed Albert Belle. Most people including White Sox fans were surprised that JR signed him. That being said wouldn't it be something if JR signed Ohtani this off season? The signing of Ohtani would not only change the image of the franchise but it would improve the team tremendously. I would think that alot of the money signing Ohtani would be back loaded which would definitely appeal to JR. It would be the biggest story in MLB if JR signed him. I've mentioned in the past how I've written JR a number of letters requesting an interview for the GM job. He has never responded to me. If I was the GM I would make every effort in signing Ohtani.

Does anybody think that Hahn will lose his job? I don't.

The problem was JR and Himes didn't get along. I knew numerous people who worked for the team who liked Himes. Himes and JR didn't see eye to eye and Himes was gone. Many years ago George Weiss was the GM for the Yankees. Nobody liked him, nobody. The Yankees kept him on because he was one of the greatest GMs in MLB history. He is one of the few GMs who went into the MLB HOF. When the Yankees let him go after the 1960 season he was the first person hired to be the new GM with the expansion Mets. If I would have owned the team I would have kept Himes on the job as long as he was productive. Hahn has been the White Sox GM for years only because him and JR are buddies. Can anybody tell me that Hahn has been a better GM than Himes?
-
I always thought it was lousy how JR bad mouthed Himes after letting him go. JR went on numerous radio and TV stations and dumped all over Himes.

I read recently that some billionaire from Nashville wants to buy the Tampa Bay Rays. I'm sure if he buys the team he won't keep the team in St. Pete.

Article in todays Sun Times seems to indicate the Bears might stay at Soldier Field. They seem to think it would be much cheaper for the Bears to stay in Soldier Field than it would in Arlington Heights. If thats true I will think the Bears would stay in Chicago.

No player this year has hurt the Sox as much as Reylo, not close.

Its a tossup between Lopez and TA. Both have not produced this year. -
The lease expires in 2027. If JR still owns the team some people I've talked too seem to think the lease will be extended for a few more years.

I don't have any links but I remember writer Jerome Holtzman writing about it. Before the final stadium vote Holtzman wrote that Einhorn questioned how big the White Sox fan base actually was. Holtzman pointed out that the team drew over 2 million fans a few years earlier. (in 1983 and 84) Einhorn bad mouthed the white Sox fans so much he was getting threats on his life. He hired body guards and was all set to move to Florida a few days after the stadium vote. Looking back at it I would liked to punched him in the mouth. He did nothing but harm to the franchise when he was here. I was surprised to see him in the parade after they won the 2005 World Series.
-
Say what you want about JR but he did keep the team in Chicago when Florida wanted the team. Eddie Einhorn wanted to move the team to Florida. Einhorn bad mouthed the White Sox fans so much he actually was in fear of his life and hired body guards to protect him. When the team didn't move to Florida, Einhorn sold most of his shares of the White Sox to JR. Einhorn then disappeared from the scene and was rarely seen in Chicago.

LA Times assesses White Sox/Dodgers trade possibilities
WBWSF replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I can't see TA being traded for much of anything. He can't hit, field or run anymore like he use to. If I was an opposing team needing a shortstop I would not want him. I can't see anybody wanting Moncada either. -
Looks to me like Moncada has no more power. He might not hit another home run this year. Burger has power and Moncada has no power yet Moncada is in the starting lineup every day and Burger is on the bench most of the time. This White Sox manager is lucky that JR didn't hire me as the GM. I would have had a conversation with him and I would have told him to start Burger at third base until further notice. If he didn't do it I would have fired him. Its absolutely crazy to have Moncada starting every day while Burger is not playing. I can't remember anything like this with the team.
-
Could you really blame Burger if he asked to be traded?
-
If he keeps playing like this he won't be playing for anybody in 2025.
-
Moncada plays every day and he's not hitting. Alberto who was just released had more home runs and RBIs than Moncada. Burger is hitting and doesn't play every day. Something has to change here.
-
A few days ago Ken Williams said that the White Sox are going to win the division this year and will be buyers not sellers at the deadline. I hope he's right.

White Sox Burger Grannie Walk Off Sweep Winner !

Burger has to be in the starting lineup every day. I don't care where he plays, his bat has to be in the lineup every day.
