  1. JR could care less about his legacy. He has made more money owning the White Sox than any of the previous White Sox owners. The franchise is a goldmine for him and his investors. I wasn't surprised to read a few weeks ago that JRs 2 sons want to buy out the other investors.
  2. The White Sox had some of there games on WFLD Tv, Channel 32 in addition to most of there games on Sportsvision. I always thought that Sportsvision failed because the Chicagoland area was not wired for cable at the time. The White Sox should have introduced Sportsvision after the area was wired for cable.
  3. DeBartolo said he was going to build a baseball stadium for the White Sox in the western suburbs with his own money. I was under the impression it would be built along side a shopping center. He built shopping centers all over the USA.
  4. I never knew that Caray tried buying the White Sox I wonder who his local investors were. There was nothing but hostility between Caray and the JR ownership. Did it stem because Carays group didn't get the White Sox ownership and JR did?
  5. It was somewhat of a pain but I bought it anyways. I doubt that I make all 7 games but I had to buy it because of Opening Day.
  6. Being a Season Ticket holder I received an extensive email yesterday regarding acquiring tickets for the opening homestand and the rules once you're in the stadium. You can't bring in any type of bag including a bottle of water. You have to wear a mask at all times. You will be required to stay within pre-assigned zones, which include designated concession and restroom areas. In other words you can't walk around the park. There are numerous other rules and i can't help but wonder, how many fans are actually going to go to the first homestand? I realize adjustments have to be made but it rubs me as if the overall enjoyment of going to the game is being taken away.
  7. I realize that the players union rejected a 154 game schedule starting on May 1. Since then I have heard nothing. Evidently there is going to be a 162 game season. Does anybody have any idea as to when fans will be allowed inside the stadiums?
  8. A later offer was made to JR. South Side Sox had an article written by Rob Hart (November 9, 2012) which went into greater detail on the subject. Bruce levine had a similar article on the subject also. It really didn't matter because JR had no interest in the South Loop location. He wanted the stadium built in Addison/ Dupage county simply because he owned the land where the stadium was going to be built. I have no doubt in my mind that JR would have taken the South Loop offer if he hadn't owned the land in Addison.
  9. When the White Sox were looking for a new stadium in the mid 1980s the City of Chicago offered to build a stadium for JR in the South Loop at Roosevelt and Clark. He turned down the offer.
  10. 1) I talked to my season ticket agent yesterday. He told me there is going to be a 162 game season and the stadium will be totally open to all fans, not limited to only a few thousand. I have to see how this plays out because I don't think alot of people will be vaccined by Opening day. 2) JR might be a cheap clown and a lousy owner but he sure knows how to make money. He has made nothing but money with the White Sox franchise.
  11. My heart is with the White Sox. If some other team offered me the GM job I wouldn't take it.
  12. I'm not familar with the Indians stadium lease but I can't help but wonder if the franchise is going to move somewhere else. The team hasn't drawn that well in recent years with winning teams. i wouldn't be surprised if they wound up moving out of Cleveland.
  13. Can't help but wonder, when will fans be allowed inside the stadium to see the games?
  14. If Hahn would have gone to the Phillies I might of finally got that interview for the White Sox GM job.
  15. I still write JR letters giving him some of my free advice. One of these days he might give me that interview for the GM job. I wrote him a letter a few weeks ago telling him if I was the GM I would sign Eaton. Maybe he took my advice.
  16. The ideal situation for me would have been to be the White Sox owner instead of JR. The franchise would have been better off if I had been the owner. His ownership has been a flop. The only positive thing anybody can say about JRs ownership is that it has made him nothing but money.
  17. I have no interest in being a announcer, just the White Sox GM job.
  18. First of all I hate him. Secondly, was he let go by the Cubs? I wouldn't think too many people would leave the TV booth to be a radio announcer.
  19. I'd rather keep the young talent and sign Quintana.
  20. I've lived thru Bill Veecks trading Callison, Cash, Mincher, Romano and Battey after the 1959 season. It had devastating results on the White Sox franchise for years after that. I hope they don't start trading there young talent again. Vaughn has so much upside, it would be nuts to trade him.
  21. Einhorn was the one who wanted to move the White Sox to Florida. When that didn't happen he sold most of his shares of the White Sox to JR. Einhorn wound up with 1% ownership of the team. He also received a yearly salary from JR. I think Einhorn was given the title of Vice President. He didn't do anything with the White Sox the last 16 years of his life. He disappeared from the scene after he sold most of his shares to JR.
  22. I think its fair to say that the White Sox franchise has had some lousy owners.
  23. Other than he saved the White Sox franchise from being moved after the 1975 season, his ownerships with the White Sox can't be looked upon as successful. There weren't too many tears shed when he sold the team after the 1980 season. Its never talked about but Veeck wanted to move the team to Denver after the 1980 season. The American League wouldn't go for it and the team remained in Chicago.
