What posters seem to forget is that the White Sox under Hahn have been one of the most profitable teams in MLB. Forbes magazine said that the 2018 CWS were the 6th most profitable team in MLB. I would make a guess that the 2019 CWS were just as profitable. Low payrolls equal huge profits for JR and his investors. With the new local TV contract the team will be more profitable. I don't expect Hahn spending a lot of money this off season on free agents. Hope I'm wrong, but we'll have to wait and see. I've said it before and I'll say it again the franchise would be better off if I was the GM. I write JR a letter every year requesting to be interviewed for the White Sox GM job. So far I have not received a response from him.

Drysdale and Hawk were both real good announcers but Harry belonged on the Southside of Chicago. Problem was both JR and Einhorn hated Harry. I've always thought that both JR and Einhorn were jealous of Harrys popularity with White Sox fans. JR bad mouthed Harry for years. JR called Harry "scum" a number of times. He even said that he regretted not firing Harry the first year he owned the team in the middle of the 1981 season. Say what you want about the situation but Harry came out smelling like a rose when he went with the Cubs and wound up on the WGN superstation. Letting Harry go the northside was another one of the major mistakes that JR has done in his years of ownership.

I wouldn't be surprised if they went "The kids can play" route. We shall see.

Your optimism overwhelms me. A payroll of $153 million is something that I will believe when I see it.

Steve Stone not returning to the booth next season???
WBWSF replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Stone is smart enough to know that the White Sox are his last stop in his broadcasting career. At his age he wouldn't be hired by anybody else. -
JR is going to come to his senses and fire Hahn and make me the White Sox GM.

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
WBWSF replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Does anybody know how much more the TV deal is paying the White Sox? I haven't read anything as too how much the new deal is worth. -
Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
WBWSF replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
JR has said for many years that a winning team is expensive. Keep in mind that Forbes magazine said that the 2018 white Sox (which lost 100 games) were the 6th most profitable team in MLB. As long as the team payroll is low the white Sox franchise is a goldmine for JR and his investors. -
How about Renteria AND Hahn going to the Northside and Maddon AND Epstein coming to the Southside.

With Robert and Madrigal in the 2020 White Sox lineup I don't expect Hahn to add much to the lineup this off season. Marco Gonzales was rumored to be traded a few months ago. He might be a target for Hahn. He's young and he 's a lefty. something the White Sox don't have in their rotation. Hopefully they will acquire either Odorizzi or Wheeler to help out the starting rotation. Other than acquiring starting pitching I don't expect a lot of activity from Hahn.

Is Ricky Renteria once again simply a placeholder manager?
WBWSF replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
In todays Sun Times Renteria said the organization has to go outside and acquire some players for next season. He said that this will be a very important off season for the White Sox. It will be interesting how this plays out. I don't think they're going to spend a lot of money to sign free agents but we shall see. -
I'm under the impression that Giolito, Kopech, Cease and Lopez will be in the White Sox starting rotation in 2020. I'm hoping they're having second thoughts about Lopez. I realize that the White Sox minor league system isn't loaded with pitching but I'm hoping that they acquire somebody who can take the place of Lopez. If anything put Lopez in the bullpen pitching long relief.

Your optimism amazes me. I wish I felt the same way about the White Sox signing some good free agents. I hope you"re right.

I don't think we can dump all this in Renteria's lap
WBWSF replied to vilehoopster's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I've always thought that this so called rebuild has not been taken seriously by the Owner and management. This has always rubbed me as if the team wins, fine and if they lose, so what. As long as the owners are making money I don't think they really care if this team starts winning. Still, this has gotten to the point where some changes have to be made. After Saturdays night loss Renteria should be fired ASAP. The White sox lost on a walkoff home run that wasn't a home run. All Renteria had to do was challenge the play and the replay clearly showed it was not a home run. Even the White Sox TV announcers confirmed that before todays game. Renteria should have been fired before todays game. -
Let Boston take Hahn and have JR sign DD.

When the White Sox brought in Carson Fulmer last night, Steve Stone mentioned that Fulmer has to start taking advantage of being called up again. Stone said the 2020 rotation is going to be Giolito, Lopez, Cease, Kopech and probably Rodon and Dunning. Some people seem to think that Stone has become a mouthpiece for JR and judging by his comments last night, he seemed like he was telling White Sox fans don't expect any pitchers to be added via free agency.

I never thought the attendance would be as high as it has been the last few years. Last year the team drew 1.6 million with a team that lost 100 games. I remember the 1970 team that drew less that 500,000. I never thought they would draw this many people with such bad teams. Seems to me that the attendance has been decent because of the low ticket prices and the decent promotions like dollar dog Wednesday and T-shirt Thursday. It doesn't cost as much as going to the Northside of Chicago where everything is super expensive. I hope they don't start over charging like they did in the past.

Sox @ Braves 6:05 CDT NBCSN-CHI Lopez vs Keuchel
WBWSF replied to Jack Parkman's topic in 2019 Season in Review
Wouldn't the signing of Dallas Keuchel have helped this team this year? Instead they've had Manny Banuelos, Ross Detwiler, Odrisamer Despaigne, Ervin Santana, Hector Santiago, Ryan Burr and Carson Fulmer in the starting rotation. It gives some people the impression that the team is losing/tanking on purpose. AND of course, laughing all the way to the bank in doing so. -
I will never give up my goal of being the White Sox GM until I'm at least interviewed for the job by JR or if he ever responds to my letters telling me he's not interested in hiring me. Until then I will keep writing him letters requesting to be interviewed for the GM job. Who knows, JR might come to his senses and interview me. I would absolutely impress him enough where I'm sure that he would hire me.

David Glass has sold the Royals. He thinks being 83 years old the franchise would be better off with a younger person owning the team. Isn't JR 83 years old?
-
The White Sox were 6th most profitable team in MLB in 2018.

If I was the owner I would not of signed Chatwood. That would of been the job of the GM. I would not interfere with a GM. If I had a successful GM like Larry Himes I would let him run the show.
