I never thought for one minute that the White Sox would sign Harper/Machado this past off season. I also didn't think this 2019 season would be a winning season. Still. this 7 game losing streak (of which 4 of the losses were to the Royals) is just pathetic. This losing on purpose and the owners making millions of dollars isn't right. This ownership could care less that this team is losing as long as they are making tons of money. Keep in mind that Forbes said the White Sox were the 6th most profitable team in MLB last season. I'm expecting the 2019 White Sox will make even more money for this ownership in 2019. There is absolutely no accountability for this mess. Being a season ticket holder, I'm finding it harder to go to these games knowing that the team is going to lose year after year. If we had a owner who cared about winning both Hahn and Renteria would be gone. I just don't see this situation getting better anytime soon. I hope I'm wrong.

I guess the "momentum" towards being competitive was just dumb luck?

This is just another year of the Rick Hahn dynasty era. -
Now that this has happened and the offense can't score any runs, I hope they call up both Robert and Madrigal. Let both of them get there feet wet up here now.

What this organization/ricky's plan was for the all star break

If the White Sox get swept in KC I hope Renteria gets fired. I would rather have Hahn get the boot but I don't think that will happen. The team has looked horrible on this road trip. If the team keeps losing Renteria should go. -
I'm expecting the 2020 White Sox payroll to be lower than the 2019 team payroll.

It doesn't take much to see the White Sox are in need of starting pitching. There is nothing to suggest that help will come from the minor league system. I don't think JR is going to spend upwards of $140 million on Cole. I'm wondering if the team would consider putting Aaron Bummer in the starting rotation. I would like to think he would be able to give the team a decent start of at least 5 innings. He would have to be better than the starters they've being throwing out there recently.

I was at that event. The team and the franchise was sad. The Bill Veeck ownership was absolutely hopeless. Shortly after that event Veeck put the team up for sale. His ownership was so bad that virtually every White Sox fan was glad to see him sell the team. I was really surprised that Veeck was voted into the MLB HOF.

You're White Sox GM and can see a year and a half into the future....

1) The FO is not going to spend big on free agents this off season. I've read numerous times that Cole will be getting at least 6 years/$140 million . If anybody gets signed it will be another type of pitcher like Nova. We have to hope Kopech and Rodon come back next year and contribute to the team. 2) Unfortunately the ownership/front office isn't going anywhere. The franchise is making nothing but big money and they're perfectly content with this situation. -
Sox claim 1b A.J. Reed off waivers AND send him to majors
WBWSF replied to smalls2598's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I can't help but wonder if Hahn is going to trade Abreu and Reed will be the first baseman. I hope this doesn't happen. I want Abreu here for the next few years. -
I don't know if he was worth it but Nova will always have a warm spot in my heart for pitching as good as he did against the bad guys.
-
Lets say that you're right about 3yr/36 million. Does anybody think the White Sox would give him that? Keep in mind that Hahn gave Adam Laroche 2years/24 million when he was 34 years old.
-
Abreu is a free agent at the end of this year. I can't help but wonder if some team offers him a big multi year contract if he takes it. It doesn't appear as if the White sox are going to give him a big multi year contract.

MLB All Star David Price said after the White Sox drafted Fulmer that Fulmer was ready to pitch in the majors. Both Price and Fulmer went to the same college. Price said that Fulmer had so much talent, he would be wasting his time in the minors. Obviously everybody misjudged Fulmer.
-
I've read where Cole is expecting a 6 year contract worth at least $140 million dollars. Does anybody really think JR is going to pay that much?
-
When the White Sox brought up Chris Sale, he was in the bullpen for awhile before he was in the starting rotation. If Cease is brought up and they put him in the bullpen to get his feet wet up here, so be it.
-
Bring Cease up. Lets see what he can do. What do you have to lose? We have a starting pitching staff that can't get anybody out.
-
But yet Fulmer keeps getting called up to the White Sox and Cease is still in the minors.
-
Hahn seems adamant about not bringing up Dylan Cease. Maybe he'll trade him back to the bad guys for Quintana.

Years ago I could have had a job with the White Sox. I couldn't take it. I had other concerns at the time. Looking back at that, I should have taken the job.I figure I could have moved up the ladder over time and would have probably become the White Sox GM.
-
I would give JR the most memorable interview he ever had in his life. I don't know if I would get the GM job after the interview but I guarantee you that JR would not ever forget my interview.
-
I see the 2020 White Sox pitching staff with the names you have mentioned. I've read a number of posts who seem to think the team is going to sign Gerrit Cole. I've read elsewhere where Cole is expecting a 6 year contract of $140 million dollars. I can't imagine JR and Hahn paying that type of money for him. We just have to hope that Cease and Kopech pitch decently next season. .
-
If this organization doesn't improve the starting rotation this is going to be a perpetual rebuild.
-
I was surprised that the White Sox didn't resign Santiago this past off season. His numbers weren't bad last year and he's better than most of the starting rotation the team has now. And he could have been signed very cheaply. I would imagine he'll be called up soon.
-
Can't be upset with this loss. When you're starting your bottom bullpen against the World Champion Red Sox, I don't think anybody should be surprised by the loss. Maybe they should have forfeited the game and spared White sox fans the misery of this game. When you have a organization that did nothing this past off season to improve the starting rotation you start your bullpen in games like this. Nobody is being held accountable for this mess and the whole situation stinks.

Ex White Sox pitcher Carlos Torres is a free agent again. I wonder if Hahn will bring him back to the White Sox.
