AJ Pollock declined his White Sox option. I can't help but wonder if anybody will even sign him. And if somebody does sign him, I wonder if he's going to make any big money. I think he turned down $11 million from the White Sox.
-
I agree with you that they will want a new park. If thats the case, I wonder where it will be built?
-
Yes the window is still open. If the 2023 White Sox stay healthy they can win over 90 games and be in the playoffs.
-
Yes they own a percentage of it. Reports have them wanting a cable station where they would own everything. We shall see how this turns out. I would think if it happens it would be announced sometime on 2023.
-
There have been reports that the White Sox, Bulls and Blackhawks are going to start their own Cable Tv Network after their contracts expire after the 2024 season. I find it hard to believe that the team would invest in a TV network and then move out of state.
-
The lease on the stadium expires in 7 more years. It will be curious to see if they renew the lease and for how long. I've met people who think the team is simply going to renew the lease and stay where they're at. Its such a sweetheart lease I would think if they get the same deal they might renew. If the lease is renewed for any length of time that should end the talk about moving.

You said that money talks and BS walks. Do you really think the White Sox are not making money? JR would have sold years ago if the team was losing money.
-
The bad Guys on the Northside outdraw the White Sox for a number of reasons. One of the reasons is because they get alot of their attendance from out of staters. I've heard different numbers over the years but I'm sure at least 20% of their attendance comes from people who live out of state.

I've read a few times that the White Sox gross $250 million dollars a year. With the payroll $200 million dollars I would think they're not going to spend anymore money on the payroll.
-
How would you feel if the White Sox stayed in the Reinsdorf family? There have been numerous reports that the team will be sold upon JRs passing. I wouldn't be surprised if the family kept the team. Keep in mind they tried to buy the shares sold to the Lucas family last year. I would think they would only sell the team if his sons didn't want it and I don't know if thats the case. I know that JRs oldest son (David) wanted to keep the team but he died a few years ago.

JR wanted to go to Dupage county where he happened to own the land were the stadium was going to be built. When the team moved from Sarasota Florida to Tuscon Arizona for spring training, JR owned the land were the stadium was built. I'm still hoping they move to the South Loop when this lease expires in a few years.
-
JR also took a pass on building a new stadium in the South Loop at Roosevelt and Clark. The City of Chicago wanted to build the stadium and JR wasn't interested. I've never met anybody who thought the team was better off at the present location as opposed to the South Loop.
-
JR is not going to sell the team as long as he's living. He could care less how many tell him to sell the team. He doesn't care about any of us White Sox fans. Some of you younger people have no idea how close he came to moving the team to Florida. If former Illinois Governor Jim Thompson hadn't stepped in at the last moment JR was going to move the team to Florida. Ironically it would have been the biggest mistake of his life. The Tampa Bay Rays have already gone thru 4 different ownerships. Their lease runs out in a few years and if they don't get another stadium somewhere in Tampa that team is going to move.
-
The Pirates are going to have to trade Reynolds. If he's not moved by Opening Day, He'll be moved by the trading dateline this summer.
-
I would love to see Reynolds on the White Sox. What worries me, if they obtained him would they be able to sign him to a long term contract?
-
I thought there would be bobbleheads of Cease and Vaughn.
-
The White Sox seem serious about contending for the 2023 Playoffs. The White Sox are coming!!!! Tra La, Tra La!!!!
-
The White Sox will go to the Playoffs in 2023!!!!
-
JR tried buying the Mets before he bought the White Sox. Some other person outbidded JR for the Mets.
-
JR might be a total failure as a owner but he has come out of it a billionaire.

2023 MLB offseason signings and rumors thread

It will be curious to see how this plays out. There have been rumors for years as to where the new stadium will be located in the Chicagoland area. I've also met people who think they will renew the lease at the present stadium. The present lease is a sweetheart deal. They probably won't get the same deal at a new stadium. -

The KC Royals announced that they want to build a new $2 Billion Dollar Baseball stadium . The present lease runs out in 2030. I think the White Sox lease runs out in either 2028 or 2029. I wonder if we're going to hear of a new White Sox stadium in a few years. -
Brickhouse was the man who made sure Veeck had enough money to buy the White Sox the second time. Brickhouse introduced Veeck to a Chicago Business man who provided the extra money for Veeck to buy the White Sox. Brickhouse didn't want the White Sox to leave Chicago. Brickhouse always thought it was wrong that the Chicago Cardinals left Chicago for St. Louis. He didn't want the White Sox to leave also.

Most owners would have gone to Channel 32 in 1968. Channel 32 gave the White Sox $1 million dollars a year. Channel 9 wanted to keep the White Sox but only offered $350,000 a year. There were other factors involved also. The move to Channel 32 came at a bad time in White Sox history. The teams of 1968-1970 were 3 of the worse teams in franchise history. Also, not too many White Sox fans liked TV announcer Jack Drees.

JR should have waited on Sportsvision until the Chicagoland area was wired for cable. Pay Tv became a goldmine when it went to cable. Buying a box for one channel didn't workout. I've always thought that the Sportsvision fiasco hurt Einhorn deeply. When Florida wanted the White Sox, Einhorn was all for moving the team. When the White Sox stayed in Chicago Einhorn sold most of his White Sox stock to JR and he left the scene.
