This whole rebuild is unacceptable. Nothing like this has ever been done before. Some hard core White Sox fans are supporting this so called rebuild/tanking. The average White Sox fan is walking away from this nonsense. Virtually every game I've been to this year has had a sparse crowd. They're announcing tickets sold. Believe me, most of these games don't have 2,000 fans in the stadium. The vendors are complaining about the small crowds because they're not making any money. The upper deck is closed for most of the games. This is the ugliest situation I've seen since the 1968-1970 seasons. I figure if the 2019 season is as bad as the 2018 season we might possibly see some major changes.

Robertson is a free agent at the end of this year. I would welcome him back in a minute. He's better than anybody we have in the bullpen now.
-
No I didn't but still the White Sox should have won this game. As former Raiders coach Al Davis use to say, "Just Win Baby". As I've stated before I think it was wrong to trade Robertson and Jennings last season. It has left this team with a horrendous bullpen. Rentieria thought so little of Bummer that he didn't bring him in the 9th inning today to face the batter who wound up hitting the winning home run.

I realized when Hahn traded our entire bullpen last mid season for nothing that this bullpen would be bad this year. I can now say that other than Lopez this entire pitching staff has to be the worse staff in my lifetime. Hahn has said the last 2 seasons that the team was "Mired In Mediocrity". And he might have been right but now this team is a out and out disaster. 4 of the 5 starters can't get anybody out and the bullpen is probably as bad as the starters. This is one of the most shameful things I have seen as a White Sox fan.

Lucas Giolito has been counted on to help lead the White Sox to the promised land in this so called "rebuild". His ERA is over .7. He simply can't get anybody out. If he continues to perform badly I wonder what the team is going to do with him. Will they put him in the bullpen? Or will they send him down to the minors? I find it interesting that the team won't promote Kopech and Jimenez but they keep Giolito and Engel on the team who aren't producing.

Believe me, you're not alone in your opinions of this ownership/management team of the White Sox. I've been a season ticket holder for years and I haven't been as down on this team/ownership/management since the late 1980s when JR almost moved the team to Florida. Most of the games I've been to have had the team losing and losing badly. The atmosphere has been depressing. The upper deck has been closed at most of these games because of the sparse crowds. They announced a crowd of 13,000 tickets sold last Thursday night. They didn't have 2,000 fans at the game. A lot of the season ticket holders aren't even showing up at the games. Recently MLB executive Tony Clark made a statement about certain teams not trying to win and he didn't think it was fair to the fans of those teams. I don't know what if anything MLB can do about situations like this but I wish they would do something. I never thought the White Sox would have a team as bad as the 1970 White Sox (they lost 106 games) but Unless things really change I can see this present team being as bad as that one.

A friend of mine (who is a Yankees fan) was talking about this White Sox "rebuild" asked me who would I like to see in charge of this "rebuild". His two choices were the present White Sox ownership/ management team and the present Cubs ownership/management team. I hated to admit it but I picked the Cubs ownership/management team. I wonder how many people would have chosen the present White Sox ownership/management team.

Hawk made a rather interesting comment today. He said you can judge the GM of the team by its won - loss record. Hahn has been the GM here for 6 years and has not had one winning season. The talent on this team is pathetic. Delmonico has been the cleanup man on the team most of the season and he has 1 homerun with 6RBIs. I can't remember the White Sox having a hitter batting 4th with only 6 RBIs at this stage of the season.
-
Fulmer and Giolito have been bad so far. I can't help but wonder if both of these pitchers don't start improving will they be sent down to the minors? I'm not surprised at Fulmers performance but I was expecting Giolito to be a decent starter. His ERA is over 7. If this keeps up I wonder if it might be best to send him down.
-
There might be some truth to what you say about the level of control Hahn has had. Steve Stone usually puts Hahn and Kenny Williams together in all of his conversations about this rebuild.
-
A lot of the White Sox fanbase have a lovefest with Hahn. More importantly Hahn has JR in his corner. The Hahn lovefest absolutely baffles me. Hahn has been the White Sox GM for 6 years. The White Sox have not been in the playoffs during his 6 years. Nor has the team finished with a winning record any of his 6 years. He would have been gone from most other MLB teams by now if he was as unsuccessful with those teams as he has been here.
-
Hahn has said numerous times he won't bring up anybody who wasn't ready. Yet he brought up Carson Fulmer last year who didn't perform well in the minors.
-
What happens if Jimenez is brought up and he performs well? Would that be such a bad thing? Jimenez has talked quite openly that he thinks he should be on the White Sox now performing in the majors. Frank Thomas was brought up late in the 1990 season. Thomas has said numerous times he thought he should have been brought up sooner. He thought he was wasting his time in the minors

The White Sox have a record of 8-20. the third worse record in MLB. Probably the major reason for the dismal record is the 3-9 record in one run games. There are simply too many outs in the lineup. That being said why not bring up Eloy Jimenez now?. The team is going nowhere now. It looks like a 100 loss team. The highlight of this season might be the series in July when the White Sox play the Reds. This could be the series for the highest draft choice. When you have Delmonico batting cleanup and you have Engel and Narvaez in the lineup you're not going to score a lot of runs. How can anybody justify having Engel in the lineup and not Jimenez? I've read where Jimenez isn't very good defensively. That might be so but he couldn't be any worse than Delmonico. Every ball hit to Delmonico is an adventure. What possible harm could there be at this stage in bringing Jimenez up now? If it didn't workout they could always send him back down to the minors. Mickey Mantle was sent down to the minors his first season with the Yankees. He came back later and had a HOF career. Numerous players were sent down to the minors and came back and had good careers.
-
I tried that once before. I simply wanted to be interviewed for the GM job but I didn't get a response from JR. I've often wondered if Hahn is really the GM. Does he make the major decisions by himself or is he being told what to do by JR and Kenny Williams? Spending $8 million dollars on somebody like Soria is nuts.
-
Mid season last year the White Sox traded there entire bullpen. I thought trading Robertson and Jennings was wrong. I still think it was wrong. I viewed both of those trades as simply salary dumps. They replaced Jennings with Bummer and this year they put Soria in the closers role that Robertson had. Its bad enough this team has Soria as its closer, keep in mind the White Sox are paying this guy 8 MILLION DOLLARS. What a waste of money. Maybe the objective of the management is to lose as many games as possible in order to get a higher draft pick.
-
I have not met any White Sox fan who would rather have Joakim Soria than Dave Robertson.
-
The White Sox are not alone in this but this will be the 6th season in a row that the team will have a losing record. This ownership/management team should be ashamed of this situation.
-
I realize that this 2018 season is a lost cause. Or as our GM would say another season "Mired in Mediocrity". This is all being done in the name of a rebuild/tanking. But still this record the team has is absolutely pathetic. I know that this ownership is laughing all the way to the bank with this team. I still think this whole situation is pathetic.

Gamethread: White Sox vs Mariners 1:10 PM CST

I read elsewhere that the White Sox play 5 games this weekend at KC, there is speculation that Kopech will be brought up to pitch in one of the games. -
I know what a nightmare is and this present White Sox team is a nightmare. And I see this nightmare going on for many years. If some people are happy with that, so be it. I'm not happy with a team that is worse than a MLB expansion team.

I went to the game yesterday. The atmosphere was depressing. The upper deck was closed. Most of the food stands on the lower level were closed also. I don't think they had a 1,000 fans at the game. I was acquainted with former sports writer Bill Gleason. Some older fans will remember him as a lifelong White Sox fan. He told me once how lousy it was growing up a White Sox fan in the 1930s. On year they finished 56 games out of first place. He said it was hopeless year after year. Looking at the lineup in yesterdays game, the White Sox now have 4 players in there lineup hitting less than .200. If they start Navarez behind the plate today they will have 5 players hitting less than .200. I wonder if any MLB team has ever been as bad as the present White Sox lineup. Having 5 players in the lineup hitting less than .200 is pathetic. It seems like history is repeating itself. This appears to be a hopeless situation that will go on for years.

David Kaplan has said that the White Sox are not going to sign any big free agents this coming off season. Bruce Levine has said the White Sox are going to sign some big free agents this off season. We shall see who is right.

Trust The Process? I honestly thought this team would be bad but still somewhat entertaining. I hoped the team would have 3 good starting pitchers. Lopez, Fulmer and Giolito. Turns out that Lopez has been the only good starter on the staff. The rest of the starting pitching has been BAD. The rest of the team has collapsed. The hitting and defense hasn't been good. I really think this team can lose as many games as the 1962 Mets did when they lost 120 games. If people want to trust the process, so be it. I don't.
