Do you believe the Sox will make the playoffs in 2016?
WBWSF replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I figure the White Sox will go on a winning streak and basically have the 2016 playoff spot wrapped up by Labor Day. -
From what I have seen of him he appears to be Hall Of Fame bound.

Robin Ventura gets replaced by Terry Bevington.

Cleveland outdrew us? Attendance down 13% so far
WBWSF replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Last night the Yankees played the Rays in St. Pete. A Friday night crowd of 14,000 turned out. That has to be disturbing to the owners of the Rays. That particular area has a ton of Yankees fans living there. There are alot of retired people in the St. Pete area from the east coast. The Yankees have had their Spring Training games in that area for many years. I know the Rays are trying to get a new stadium and I don't know what's going to happen in that regards. I would think if they don't get a new stadium that franchise won't be around too much longer. I've been there a number of times and the place is a hole. The last time I was there they announced a paid crowd of 10,000. That was tickets sold. They didn't have a 1,000 people there in actual attendance. And to think the White Sox came very close to moving there. -
I noticed in tonights game against KC they flashed a picture of Anderson on the screen with his huge statistics. Hawk and Stone both pointed out how hot Anderson has been recently. Perhaps he might be brought up after this road trip. Who knows, he might even be our new DH.

Nobody is talking about this but Baltimore isn't drawing as well as they should because people are afraid to go there. The stadium is not that far from where the riots were last year. -

The attendance is definitely trending upward. Especially when you take into account that most of the people coming to the games now are not Season Ticket holders. I doubt that the White Sox have 10,000 Season Ticket holders. Most of the people coming to the games now are buying individual tickets and are walk ups. I heard on the TV that the team has already sold 1.9 million tickets for this year. -
1) It's a no brainer. Bring him up. 2) The only good thing that has happened the last couple of games is that Abreu has started to hit. 3) Even if Abreu keeps hitting the lineup has too many outs in it. 4) Neither of the present White Sox shortstops can hit. Anderson CAN Hit. If he can just make the routine plays at shortstop everything will be fine. 5) I don't see Hahn making any immediate trades to help this teams offense now. It seems to me the best way to help this team offensively right now is to bring up Anderson.

Don't be too sure that the Cubs won't lose some of their fanbase when they have their network. I'm under the impression that all of their games will be on their network. They won't have any of their games on free TV. If this actually happens the White Sox will be the only team in Chicago on free TV.

Sportsvision was ahead of its time. It failed because the Chicagoland area was not wired for cable at the time. Sportsvision should have been postponed until the area was wired for cable.

He has certainly been a wonderful addition to the White Sox. I can't understand why Oakland traded him to the White Sox. It doesn't appear as if the White Sox gave up alot to acquire him.
-
If Avila is out for some time and Smith doesn't work out, I can't help but wonder if the White Sox will try to acquire AJ from the Braves.
-
This tells me that the White Sox brass can't be too pleased with the bottom of our rotation which consists of Danks and Latos.
-
I don't know who will be on the Opening Day roster but I hope the White Sox don't ask Adam LaRoche to throw out the first pitch.
-
If Fulmer is that good this spring put him in the starting rotation right now. The bottom of the rotation scares me to death. If Fulmer is better than our 4th + 5th starters plug him into the rotation right now. I try not to take these exhibition games too seriously but Matt Latos is pitching today for the first time this spring. He needs tp step up and have a good outing. The team needs him to perform good this season. The 2016 season will be determined by how the back of the rotation performs. If the 4th + 5th starters do well this year I believe the team can get into the 2016 Playoffs.
-
Ron Santo, when he was with the White Sox in 1974.
-
Lets see how he performs this year before giving him a long term contract. The White Sox haven't had any success with ex National League players. Both Dunn and LaRoche performed well in the NL and came over to the AL and tanked. I'm hoping Frazier has more success with the White Sox than those 2 did.

Empirical evidence that the Sox will be good this year
WBWSF replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You're wrong. The White Sox will not be good in 2016. The White Sox will be GREAT in 2016. Playoff Baseball is coming to the Cell in 2016. -
Crazy Spring Training Predictions Heading Into Opening Day
WBWSF replied to Boopa1219's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This isn't a prediction. I'm just hoping La Roche and Danks are not on the 2016 White Sox Opening Day roster. I don't care if they're traded or released. I just hope that they are both gone. It's time to move on without those two stinking up the team. -
Avi is going to have a GREAT year. The entire White Sox team is going to have a GREAT year in 2016. The 2016 White Sox are going to the 2016 Playoffs. They will be the only Chicago team to reach the 2016 Playoffs.

2016 is the 25th anniversary of "New Comiskey Park" or USCF

What killed Sportsvision was : 1) Chicago was use to getting their baseball games on free TV. 2) More importantly, Chicago was not wired for cable at the time. It was expensive paying for only one channel, which Sportsvision was. -

Nobodys talking about this yet but from I know the Cubs are going to have all of their games on cable when they have their own TV station. I would like to think that WGN will give the White Sox some serious money to have some of their games on Channel 9. The White Sox will be the only baseball team in Chicago with some of their games on free TV. -

The White Sox TV ratings were almost equal to the Cubs a few years ago. Their ratings doubled on Comcast last year when the team got hot. When the team started losing again the ratings went bad. As long as JR or one of his investors own the White Sox/Bulls there are more than enough TV stations in the Chicagoland area that will want the White Sox on their channel. -
I grew up in a Chicago Cardinals family. I was at their last home game when I was a young boy in 1959. As time marched on the old Chicago Cardinals fan base died off. This became a one team market/monopoly for the Bears in a metro area of 9 million people. If the White Sox move, eventually the White Sox fans will die off and they will become a distant memory like the Chicago Cardinals are now. The Cubs will have a identical situation like the Bears do now.

The miserable upper deck might be standard for most parks the last 25 years but that still doesn't make it acceptable. JR changed the original design because he wanted more levels of suites. It has ruined the park and most people don't like it up there and don't want to sit up there. I've been a season ticket holder for years, through the good times and the bad times. If they ever moved my tickets upstairs in the upper deck, I wouldn't renew. You're better off watching it on TV rather than sitting up there.
