2016 is the 25th anniversary of "New Comiskey Park" or USCF
WBWSF replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Always remember the following: 1) The City of Chicago offered to build a new baseball stadium for the White Sox in the South Loop at Roosevelt and Clark. 2) JR turned down the offer and wanted to build a stadium in Addison/DuPage county. Keep in mind that the stadium would of been built with tax payer money on land owned by JR. 3) When the stadium in Addison didn't work out, the City of Chicago offer in the south Loop was off the table. 4) The State of Illinois agreed to build the new park at its present location. If they hadn't agreed to that the White Sox would have moved to Florida. 5) I've tried to simplify this as much as possible but JR should have taken the original offer from the City of Chicago and had the new stadium built in the South Loop. EVERYBODY would have been better off. The White Sox franchise, the White Sox fans and the City of Chicago. Its bad enough the stadium was built where it is now, JR is responsible for the miserable upper deck which nobody likes and has ruined the park. The lower deck is wonderful and the upper deck sucks. 6) Sometime, somewhere and someday the White Sox will have a new owner. The new owner is going to inherit a franchise that has a stadium in a location that is not popular and a stadium with a lousy upper deck. It will be interesting to see if the new owner tries to get another stadium for the White Sox or if he renews the lease when it expires in 2027. 7) Looking back at the whole situation I wish JR would not have bought the White Sox. I wish DeBartolo would have purchased the team. -
This subject on Cespedes has produced over 3,000 replies AND 0ver 190,000 views. Its obvious that White Sox fans want Cespedes on the South Side of Chicago. I think he would be the final piece on the team and help the team contend in 2016. My gut reaction is the White Sox are not going to sign him. I hope I'm wrong.
-
Both Cespedes and Upton have yet to be signed by anybody. Yet somebody like Shark signed with the Giants for some serious money. (I'm so glad he's not on the 2016 White Sox) Both of these guys are considered major talents but still nobody has signed them. Is there some reason why nobody has signed these guys? Are they trouble makers? It doesn't make any sense to me. I would love to have either of them on the White Sox. Having one of them would make the White Sox serious 2016 Playoff contenders. I'm hoping that something can be worked out between one of them and the White Sox.

If the White Sox don't sign one of the remaining free agents they just simply go in another direction. Maybe trade LaRoche, Danks and Garcia to the Angels for Mike Trout. I would like to think that most White Sox fans would be pleased with that trade.
-
Danks does not fit in the White Sox plans. They would love to move him now but there are not any takers for him. The White Sox haven't invited Danks to Soxfest the last couple of years. 2016 will be the last year for Danks in a White Sox uniform.
-
I already drive a Vette. Now all I want is Mike Trout on the White Sox.
-
If the White Sox don't sign anybody else I'm hoping they trade LaRoche, Danks and Garcia to the Angels for Mike Trout. This would turn out to be the most shocking trade in baseball since Rocky Colavito was traded for Harvey Kuenn.

When the bad guys on the Northside start their own TV station in 2019/2020 this could help (not hurt) the White Sox. From what I know the Cubs are going to have all of their games on their TV station. There won't be any Cubs games on free TV. To the best of my knowledge both the Yankees and Mets don't have any of their games on free TV. I'm told the Cubs are going to go the same route. We'll have to wait and see if this actually happens because if it does it has to hurt the Cubs franchise. The White Sox would be smart to keep some of their games on free TV like they do now. They would be the only baseball team in Chicago on free TV which would be a good thing for the franchise. I would like to think that this could shift some of the balance in fan popularity back to the White Sox.

Without Cespedes the Mets would of never reached the World Series. They probably would of never reached the Playoffs without him. That being said, I can't help but wonder, why aren't the Mets going to bring him back ? Am I missing something here.? If the White Sox are going to bid on him, why aren't the Mets even bidding on him? Is he a clubhouse cancer? He has been on 4 teams already. Do these 4 teams know something about him that we don't?

Every White Sox fan is hoping that the team signs another big hitter for the 2016 season. There has also been alot of talk about hopefully moving La Roche and Danks this off season. If the White Sox move Danks or Johnson this off season I can't help but wonder if the White Sox are going to sign Mark Buehrle. To the best of my knowledge he hasn't officially retired or been signed by another team. I would much rather see him in the White Sox rotation than Danks. If the team trades either Danks or Johnson for something that improves the team I would like to think Buehrle would fit in here quite well.

This is certainly one of the most interesting articles I have ever read about the White Sox franchise. That being said lets hope JR goes out and gets a couple of good hitters before Opening Day 2016. I don't want another season of bad baseball on the South Side like we've seen the last 3 years.

If Johnson comes through for the team in 2016 the White Sox can have one of the best rotations in MLB. Sale, Quintana, Rodon and Johnson is a very good rotation to have. If Fulmer does well the first part of 2016 in the Minor Leagues he might become the 5th starter by the All Star break. Why waste this type of pitching? As Bill Veeck once said "The future is Now". Acquire at least one more big bat through free agency (Upton) and hopefully the team will score enough runs to get the team into the 2016 Playoffs. If Hahn is expecting La Roche to bat cleanup for the team and be productive it's going to be another long season the South Side of Chicago. Hahn has added 2 catchers and a third baseman. He has upgraded those 2 positions. The team should be better offensively with those 3 players. The team needs one more big bat. Lets do it this offseason.

Am I the only White Sox fan that is glad the White Sox didn't give the type of money and contract length the Cubs did to Heyward, Zobrist and Lackey?

Who are the worst players in White Sox history?
WBWSF replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Ron Santo in 1974. -
LDF; Veeck said "The future is now, 5 year plans usually lead to new 5 year plans" in his auto-biography, Veeck As In Wreck. The main problem I had with Veeck was he didn't practice what he preached during his 2nd ownership of the White Sox. 4 of his 5 years of his 2nd ownership produced some of the worse teams in White Sox history. Plus he tried to move the White Sox to Denver after the 1980 season.

Dunt; I agree with you. Adding a few pieces could easily make this team a Playoff Contender in 2016. Although I was not a fan of Bill Veeck, I agreed with when he said "The future is now, 5 year plans usually lead to new 5 year plans". With the core of Abreu, Eaton. Sale, Quintana, Rodon and Robertson we could easily contend in 2016. Adding a few pieces would definitely make things interesting in 2016. I'm hoping Hahn can get it done.

I couldn't go yesterday. Did they have a big turnout? Did Nancy Fausts organ sell? Who bought it?

Kyle Seager would solve the third base problem of the White Sox for years to come. He's young, a left handed hitter and a Gold Glove third baseman. He's also tied up for years with his present contract. He's one of the few people i would trade Quintana for.
-
I've always maintained that a man needs 2 things to be happy in life. He must be in love with his work and he must be in love with his wife. It looks like Jose Abreu has both now.
-
If the White Sox are going to trade Quintana I would hope he would go to Seattle for 3rd baseman Kyle Seager. Seager is young, a good power hitter who hits left handed and is a Gold Glove 3rd baseman. Seager would solve alot of our problems if the White Sox acquire him. He's also tied up for a number of years with his contract.

I just hope that Hahn does something to improve the team for 2016. Some White Sox people have implied that they're not going to make major changes in the team. They seem to think that some of their players will bounce back from a bad 2015. I'm hoping that is just talk on their behalf. The team needs some new blood on the team otherwise it's going to be another long year in 2016.

I don't know if Ozzie gets another chance to manage the White Sox or elsewhere. I do know that EVERYBODY I talk to wants Ventura to be gone. JR is not a stupid man. I've read and heard all this talk about him being loyal to his front office and manager. There might be some truth to that but he has to realize that Ventura has to go. JR didn't resign Albert Belle after he hit over 40 Home Runs for the White Sox. JR realized that Belle was not wanted back by the White Sox fans and he didn't bring him back. He has to realize by now that Ventura is not wanted back here as White Sox manager. Dan McGrath (writer for the Sun Times) has said that Ventura will not come back next year. He said Ventura is not enjoying his job. I hope McGrath is correct.

You're right. I will miss baseball this winter. I don't follow or care about the other sports. But I will be glad to see the 2015 White Sox season end. This has been a very disturbing year. This is the 3rd year in a row the White Sox have been bad and I'm simply tired of them losing. Hopefully there will be some big changes this off season to the team and we will have something to look forward to in 2016.

I wouldn't be surprised if Avi Garcia was moved this off season. Last week he had 2 hits in the game and was lifted in the 8th inning for a pinch hitter. That hitter was Adam LaRoche. Garcia can't be thought of highly by the White Sox if LaRoche is pinch hitting for him.

This bobblehead hobby is BIG. At the last White Sox bobblehead giveaway (Scotty Pods) I met somebody who is a big time bobblehead collector. He said he has over 1,200 different bobbleheads. I thought he was kidding. He took out his smartphone and showed me pictures of his mancave/bobblehead room. He wasn't kidding.
