Soto's offense > Flowers defense

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 08:17 PM) It would've been a nice but severely overrated catch. I'm glad they didn't rule it one. Imagine the freakout of the MLBN "analysts" over that play if it were called an out.

Loved the flyout admiration and fan freakout

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 08:13 PM) The jinx Not exactly... Said it right after he drew the walk. Doesn't count

QUOTE (Special K @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 10:40 PM) No this is speculation. There are no rumors. In fact, it's been extremely quiet so far. Doesn't anyone else agree? Deadline is not too far away and there have not been many whispers. We've went on for 65 pages in the Shark thread and we haven't really seen one rumor about a possible deal or significant interest from another team, have we? Kind of frustrating. No rumors at all! So dry this season... yuck

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 05:17 PM) I would trade Shark, Montas and Avisail for Puig. I don't think they want Avi but I'd do it. I don't really care, get me Puig. I would do this in a heartbeat
-
I just don't understand why anyone would trade our solid closer for nothing at all without even having a replacement. If Robertson weren't in that bullpen, everyone's roles would shift down and apply much more pressure to them. The bullpen would probably be a train wreck. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather not trade away the pretty decent bullpen we have for some B prospects.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 21, 2015 -> 11:19 PM) 1. Quintana + Anderson + Davidson for Arenado 2. Sale + Avi + Montas for Pederson, Puig, Urias and Seager 3. Shark for Pentecost and Hoffman. 4. Watch fans be flabbergasted at the whirlwind of moves. Crosses fingers for this to please happen

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 21, 2015 -> 05:52 PM) So I'll just say this once and you can trash me for it. I'd remove Robertson. Take best available offer and clear out that contract. Goal: something similar in value to a 2nd round pick. And then what happens when we don't have a good closer anymore? Everyone will complain about it and wish we had a guy who can get the job done as well as Robertson. Sox wouldn't go for it either with their "three-year plan". I agree the contract sucks to have on our hands. But if we want to compete anytime soon, a solid 9th inning guy is crucial.

Seems like there are a few great catchers in the majors, and then some serviceable catchers, and then White Sox catchers. Anything we get has to be an improvement.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 21, 2015 -> 11:27 AM) Via Jason Stark Asked an exec of a team interested in Johnny Cueto if they saw anything to be alarmed about in his start Sunday. He said: "Yes. Everything." 44min Well that's good news
-
Thinking of what we could realistically get for any of our relievers not named Robertson, I think keeping our strongest bullpen guys and building on it is the best idea. I just don't see any player coming back that would help us compete in our "three-year window" like our bullpen guys would. Although our bullpen isn't quite KC material, it isn't bad either. I don't think we should ruin it.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 21, 2015 -> 10:56 AM) I don't believe we're intent on trading Shark. As a perceived rental among other rentals he's not a highly sought after commodity. Quintana will be dealt in a package with Montas to Houston, Toronto, or Los Angeles. I'm not up to date on those teams full rosters and which players (particulary from their minor league systems) are expendable,, but it'll be following this order: 1 MLB bat, 1 Top 5 offensive prospect, 1 Top 5-10 rated pitching prospect And years from now we'll be regretting dealing Montas. Also we'll resign Shark to a below market valued contract Those are my predictions I can't see any of that happening
-
So what would we have to give up for Barnes, Puig, and Guerrero?
-
White Sox listening to offers I like the idea of Jon Lester for Yoenis Cespedes type of trades... Any ideas on major league players we could trade for with this idea in mind?
-
Well I guess the best question to ask is: Which player gives us the best chance to win in 2016 and beyond? Quintana pitching every 5th day, or Puig as your everyday RF. You have to consider the the young arms the White Sox have to replace Q and the offense that this team so desperately needs.
