  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 15, 2018 -> 06:13 PM) Apparently, they've decided to play Pence in LF, Austin Slater (?), one of their better prospects in CF and McCutcheon in RF. I don't know...maybe if Longoria can improve his offensive numbers outside of the AL, they can be in the race. It all comes down to Bumgarner, Cueto and that suspect bullpen. Btw, has any team made an offer on Matt Cain? I would think he MIGHT be a decent innings-eater candidate if we can sign him for $3-4 million + some reasonable incentives to flip him at the deadline to a contender, but that's probably a long shot he can ever recover his form of 5 years ago (see Lincecum). He retired at the end of this season. Link
  2. Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal now Source: #Pirates sending #SFGiants $2.5M as part of McCutchen trade. McCutchen earning $14.5M in 2018.
  3. Bob Nightengale‏Verified account @BNightengale The #SFGiants are also trading outfield prospect Bryan Reynolds, ranked 4th in their system, with RHP Kylce Crick to #Pirates to complete Andrew McCutchen trade
  4. Alex Pavlovic @PavlovicNBCS Per source, Kyle Crick is part of the McCutchen trade.
  5. Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal 8s #SFGiants have agreed to acquire Andrew McCutchen from the #Pirates, pending a review of medical records, sources tell The Athletic.
  6. Jon Heyman @JonHeyman avi garcia files at $6.7M, chisox file at $5.85M
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 10, 2018 -> 05:48 PM) We are also amused when your posts are broken down point for point and you manage to overlook that
  8. Link 40-Man now at 40. Jose's Baseball Reference page for anyone interested
  9. Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal now Earlier I quoted a source saying Cole to #Astros was close. Clearly that is not the case. Had heard all morning there was significant momentum toward a trade, with specific names under discussion. A deal surely remains possible. But I was mistaken to call it close at that time.
  10. Bob Nightengale @BNightengale now Gerrit Cole and his agents still waiting to be told he's been traded from #Pirates to #Astros. No official call yet
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 7, 2018 -> 07:04 AM) Naw, no way. I had more fun watching last year than the previous two years combined. 100% agree here. Last year was a breath of fresh air for me as a fan.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 6, 2018 -> 03:58 PM) You guys are too buried in stats and have to discuss the human element. Picture greg watching a Royals game or driving in the car listening and watching Soria blow 7 saves each of the past two seasons. I'd laugh at the reaction on the talk shows the next day. Soria was that bad in KC. I don't care how much you guys say I'm full of bleep. I know what I see and hear and 7 saves each season are a lot of blown saves. Heaven forbid my guy Bobby Jenks blow 7 saves or even David Robertson who I also liked. Now Soria was great his first stint in KC. His second tenure there they were dying to shed that salary and got rid of him, unfortunately to my team. If somehow he's great again, awesome. Never underestimate Coop. But it's tough for me to think about paying for mlb and seeing Soria come in games. Cause he's been that bad of late. I'm not the devil. I am not rooting for the Sox to lose. Heaven forbid I've been one of the lone voices of fandom (with El Rockin) cheering for the team to win "meaningless" games and not caring about draft picks. Somebody should do a thread ranking and rating all the posters like past years. I am confident at least my passion for the Sox would be recognized. Go Soria! Go Sox! I find these points interesting. Considering that this one relief pitcher may appear in roughly 4% (took avg of Soria's total IP over the last 3 seasons ( vs the total # of innings over the course of 162 games (1458 total innings), not including any games that may go to extras...and this is all assuming that Soria would be on the team for the full season) of the team's games over the course of a season, that that is the straw that broke greg's back and he can no longer stomach to pay to watch the Sox play. The other 96% of the Sorialess White Sox time isn't great enough to overcome the appearances of one man? I know you believe he blows, which you've made very apparent over the course of this thread, but you really seem to be holding some grudge bc KC raido said its cool to do. BTW, David Robertson blew 7 saves in BOTH 2015 & 2016 with the Sox and Jenks blew 6 in 2009, which isn't 7 but damn close, so they both must have had terrible seasons despite what the statistics may say right?
  13. Andy McCullough @McCulloughTimes Sources: The Dodgers are close to finalizing a three-team trade that would bring LHP Scott Alexander to LA, send RHP Trevor Oaks to KC and send LHP Luis Avilan to White Sox.
  14. Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal now #Dodgers have indeed made trade, as @jcrasnick reported, but not with #WhiteSox, source tells The Athletic. In process of calling players. well this is awkward...
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 05:39 PM) Will lol if it’s some swapping of AAA pitchers Yeah me too, got so jacked when I saw it come through on the twitters.
  16. Jerry Crasnick @jcrasnick 9s The #Dodgers and #Whitesox are working on a trade. Stay tuned.
  17. Jeff Passan @JeffPassan now Source: Wade Davis' deal with the Rockies is for three years and $52M. It's the highest per-year salary ever for a relief pitcher.
  18. Jeff Passan @JeffPassan Source: Wade Davis has agreed to a deal with the Colorado Rockies.
  19. Jerry Crasnick @jcrasnick now The #WhiteSox and #Marlins recently discussed Christian Yelich, but never got much traction. Chicago has a deep enough farm system to match up with Miami, but talks failed to advance beyond the "routine dialogue'' stage. Rival executives think the #Marlins will hang onto Yelich.
  20. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 21, 2017 -> 09:30 PM) Fantastic read. Here's the transcription: https://theathletic.com/189936/2017/12/21/r...year-interview/ Here's the article https://theathletic.com/182172/2017/12/18/r...spiring-dreams/ Not sure if you have to subscribe to read it, but it's got a LOT Very thorough and well done. It's long but very good!
  21. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 21, 2017 -> 11:13 AM) I went last season, and your numbers are ridiculously inflated. Like at least double on each item you mentioned, triple in some cases. If you're going to b**** about this, at least be accurate. I was just about to mention that as well. I think we've corrected it before as well, but alas, ignored per usual.
  22. Jeff Passan‏Verified account @JeffPassan Following Following @JeffPassan More Source: Christian Arroyo is headed to the Rays in the Evan Longoria deal. Jeff Passan @JeffPassan now Source: Denard Span also is headed to Tampa Bay. Jeff Passan @JeffPassan now Source: Giants get Evan Longoria for Christian Arroyo, Denard Span, Matt Krook and Stephen Woods.
  23. Marc Topkin @TBTimes_Rays 21s BREAKING: #Rays have traded Longoria to #Giants
  24. Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal #Orioles GM Dan Duquette just told @masnRoch regarding Machado trade discussions: “I’m not sure we’re going to focus on that much more after tomorrow.” Things always can change, but O’s clearly not satisfied with offers so far.
  25. Jon Heyman @JonHeyman Sources: phillies agree to deal with Carlos Santana Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal now Source confirms: Carlos Santana in agreement with #Phillies, three years, $60M. First reported: @JonHeyman.
