  2. Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal now Source confirms: DeLeon going from #Dodgers to #Rays in deal for Forsythe. Trade agreed upon, per @TBTimesRays.
  3. Jeff Passan @JeffPassan now Source: Dodgers, Rays deep into discussions on a deal that would send Logan Forsythe to Los Angeles. If medicals are good, deal will happen. Jeff Passan @JeffPassan 55s Dodgers and Rays have discussed Jose DeLeon as the main return for Logan Forsythe. Unclear if he is in the deal at this point.
  4. I was just telling my buddies that I split a 14-game plan with about this, I have to get one just to see how annoyingly awesome it is.
  5. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 10:39 AM) It's not that. Solid article actually. Basically just said Hahn wrecked the market with his outstanding deals. Never blamed him. Ok thanks for clearing it up!
  6. Rick Hahn to Blame for Q market stalling out? This is from The Athletic, I don't have a subscription so I can't read anything past the first paragraph, but looks like potential blame shifting to RH taking too long to make a deal piece (basing that on context clues).
  7. Jeff Passan @JeffPassan 15s Sources: Danny Duffy and the Kansas City Royals have agreed on a five-year, $65 million contract extension. One less potential SP to grab now. link C'Mon Houston, time to pony up!
  8. Although not Q news, it is related. Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal now Sources: The #Astros, as they continue their search for a starting pitcher, have remained in contact with the #Athletics on Sonny Gray link
  9. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 15, 2017 -> 02:40 PM) That was the Bruce-iest article by Bruce Levine that I have ever read. It touches all the bases. Well at least it's "new", but yeah it's basically everything we've discussed numerous times already over two separate threads.
  10. Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo Braves acquire Micah Johnson from Dodgers for PTBNL or cash. 2:01pm · 13 Jan 2017 · Twitter for iPhone
  11. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 05:18 PM) Sox are going to be just throwing away AB's in the corner OF on total bums woh are longshots to even prove they are capable of being reserves. Right now Trayce Thompson is a capable fourth OF with potential to be an average starter...he'd be a much better candidate to give 600 PA's to this year than Willy Garcia or Rymer Liriano. Also, Trayce is under control for five more years. Montas still throws triple digits and would be a fine candidate to get some bullpen innings. I doubt the White Sox would trade Frazier for Montas straight up right now. Trayce's back is already going to keep him from beginning ST on time and he missed basically the entire second half of last season due to back issues. To honestly believe at this point he's going to be healthy enough to get 600 PAs next season is pretty out there. Montas throws hard but it doesn't do you any good if you can't stay on the field to throw that hard. And I fixed your last sentence for you too.
  12. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 05:04 PM) I would take that Frazier trade back in a heartbeat. I know Frazier under-performed last year but you'd rather have a bad AAAA (at best) IF, a oft injured RP and an OF with a bad back and injury issues of his own? No thanks. The Sox sold high on all three of those players, and as the saying goes, it's better to trade a player(s) a year too early rather than a year too late.
  13. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 03:12 PM) lol wat #potentialplayoffrotation 1. Jose Quintana 2. Carlos Rodon 3. JAMES SHIELDS 4. Miguel Gonzalez 5. Derek Holland? This bottom 3 has got the AL Central opposition knees buckling already. I can smell the fear from my desk as we speak!
  14. Bill Shaikin @BillShaikin #Dodgers DFA IF Micah Johnson. 3:46pm · 10 Jan 2017 · Twitter Web Client REPLIES 2 RETWEETS 7 link
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox1917 @ Jan 6, 2017 -> 04:18 PM) Gross bro More for me in that case
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 6, 2017 -> 04:13 PM) I kinda cooled on him after a poster said in person he's the size of a jack in the box taco. OTOH those are quite delicious.
  17. Dan Hayes @CSNHayes now Heard one reason #WhiteSox didn't yet add Geovany Soto to 40-man was to leave space for a possible trade. Makes sense w/ Quintana rumor. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
  18. Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 8s #WhiteSox claimed Willy Garcia off waivers from Pittsburgh and have designated Jason Coats for assignment. link
  19. Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal now If #WhiteSox move Quintana, they likely will sign free-agent SP on one-year deal to help protect youngsters. Could always flip at deadline. common sense, but hey it's relative!
  20. QUOTE (pablo @ Jan 4, 2017 -> 04:56 PM) Couldn't agree more. Yankees hold the trump card on almost all other teams if they are willing to include Torres or Frazier. Right now, they haven't been pushed to that limit yet since Pirates seem unwilling to include Meadows. Until they are forced to go there, they'll act like they are "longshots" for Q while all along keeping tabs on him. BTW long time reader, first time poster. The Q trade discussions have been so fun that I couldn't resist posting. Welcome!
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 4, 2017 -> 04:39 PM) Hey new info Yeah it's nice to have, even though it's kind of what we've known/speculated, nice to see Ken on the prowl.
  22. Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal now Sources: #WhiteSox engaged in daily trade discussions on Quintana. #Pirates, #Astros involved, possibly others. #Yankees appear longshot. Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal now Sources add: #WhiteSox firm on Quintana’s value; also could move him at deadline. NYY seem less willing than others to move top prospects. link
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 12:56 PM) See that's the funny part. Two months ago, this front office should have been fired, and never allowed to work again. People were hoping the owner of this team would die, so that someone else could own the team. The same people who are posting gigantic lists of failed players now somehow believe that this same front office that brought us all of those players can't be questioned unless you have your own fully detailed plan in place to counter it with. The same people that brought us Rollins, Jackson, Latos et al are still the same people in charge. But now I have people telling me that I should not be allowed to question them, otherwise I might hurt somebody's feelings because they won't believe in the rebuild anymore. Literally nothing at the top has changed, but now they can't be questioned, even when fans have unrealistic expectations. Seriously I feel like I have walked into a Scientology convention. I would have to disagree. While yes, the people in place have not changed, their actions have. DFA'ing Danks, Latos, Rollins in 2016 after they we're very ineffective, drafting REAL baseball players recently and not just toolsy project "athletes", reemphasizing the importance of depth and a minor league system to pull from. The philosophy is a complete 180 from previous seasons. 2016, with all of it's terribleness, has IMO, been a big step forward for the White Sox FO since they FINALLY seem to be holding people/themselves accountable. We aren't going to know if this works or doesn't for a few years, and it may not work, but it's insanely refreshing to see that they have and are trying to execute a plan, that in recent years, when done properly, can yield fantastic results in a shorter term than the traditional tear down used to take. To say that you can't see one single thing different about the top management is asinine.
