QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2016 -> 07:45 PM) Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 6m6 minutes ago Chicago, IL Talked to White Sox senior VP, sales and marketing Brooks Boyer about a number of things, including interest drawn for Chicago baseball Boyer on possible Red Line World Series: "They experienced it in NY but NY isn’t like Chicago. The Mets-Yankees is not White Sox-Cubs." Boyer: "None of those other rivalries are like this. This would be a true Civil War. It would really separate the city. It would be awesome. This is true. Even Mets and Yanks fans are intrigued by the intensity of our rivalry.

QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ May 4, 2016 -> 09:33 AM) You're right. Trade Frazier for 5 mediocre prospects and bring up Davidson. Can't be any worse than his Dunn like output, amirite? Exactly. It's not like Frazier is playing defense any better than Dunn, after all. Heck, Davidson is a young, cost-controlled asset that will give the Sox the same production. Why can't they see that?

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 4, 2016 -> 12:10 AM) He wouldn't even survive in the NL at this point sadly. His one hope is reinventing himself as a pitcher, possibly learning a knuckle ball. I don't know. Kinda wish he would have gone to Charlotte to work on things. I'm guessing that he knows he is done and would rather just end it now than humiliate himself even more. Thanks, John Danks for being professional throughout your Sox tenure. Best wishes to you.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 4, 2016 -> 04:37 AM) Eh, I'm giving this one to DA. Someone saying Abreu then wanting scrap heap is laughable. I agree. -

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ May 2, 2016 -> 09:08 PM) As a penguins fan, I love days off! Lol it's allowing me to watch this and not have to flip back and forth and not nearly have a heart attack like Saturday night. Go Caps!

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ May 1, 2016 -> 07:11 AM) I think the overpaid non-performers you're talking about were signed by the previous regime. And the Sox aren't known to be ones who eat contracts. (I think that applies to the Bulls too) It applies to most sport franchises.

4/28 Game thread: @ Baltimore, 6:05pm, CSN

QUOTE (skooch @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 12:52 PM) Does anyone know if a doubleheader has ever been played in anticipation of bad weather? I know several college football games that have been moved up due to bad weather like hurricanes. Edit: It probably isn't even permitted by the CBA. My brother, nephew, and I drove to NY to see a game at old Yankee Stadium years ago. The game was scheduled for 7p but they moved it up to a 1p start to avoid bad weather forecast for that evening (which never came). I don't know what the criteria is for making that kind of schedule change, however. -

QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 11:44 AM) Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 4m4 minutes ago It's raining in Baltimore. Weather app says 25% chance at 7 pm EST, 45% at 8 & 30% from there. Sat night isn't good, either. Sun = horrible. I live in this area (actually about 45 min south of Camden Yards and 20 min north of Nats Park). The forecast calls for rain off and on all weekend with temps in the 50s. I'll be surprised if all four games are played as scheduled. -
So let's talk about the real change this year...

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 06:37 PM) I haven't seen a drop of in our pitching due to the loss of Flowers' pitch-framing; and I was tired of looking at him, so I'm good with the change. Yes, the big improvement is Eaton>>>>>>>>Avi and Jackson>>>>> Eaton My sentiments also. Flowers did so many other things subpar that his framing could not possibly justify not trying another option at C. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 26, 2016 -> 03:01 AM) The Tribune has had great coverage of Prince the last week. BTW am I out of line saying Purple Rain is one of the greatest 100 songs of all time in the rock genre or whatever u want to call it? I would not say that you are.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 24, 2016 -> 08:04 PM) The improved defense has been the best part of the season for me. I don't have to hold my breath now. Me as well.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 23, 2016 -> 06:21 PM) Defense has been the difference in a lot off these games. Yep.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 05:47 AM) Before I had heart surgery a few years ago, me and my friends went downtown to hang out before I left for the operation. This was when I lived on Taylor and went to UIC. It was a group of like 15 and we went to Little Joe's for their karaoke night and everyone is having a good time. While I was getting a drink, my friend taps me on the shoulder and ask if it's cool if one of his friends from home can come out and I said sure. I expected it to be one of his guy friends but in walks his friend Hannah, who everyone knew I had a huge thing for, including her. While I'm far from being a social butterfly and not very sociable, I have no problem engaging with people but whenever I was around Hannah, I couldn't even open my mouth and when I did, I would say something that usually made no sense, before running away. I get my drink, get far away and wait my turn for the microphone. I guessed she noticed that I was avoiding her and she comes up and tells me that she heard about the operation and we strike up a conversation. I told her that I'm going to do a song and she says that she wants to sign up. She gives me her drink to to hold and tells the DJ what song she wants to do. It's my turn and I do Prince's Kiss. I see she's up next, so I give her the microphone and she looks at me funny. Her music starts playing and it's Little Red Corvette. Our conversation wasn't going anywhere before that but after that coincidence, me and her talked the whole night and exchanged numbers. We talked nonstop and about a month later she asked me out and we've been together since. So I guess I have Prince to thank for that. Prince was my one of my first concerts. He played during my first dance at wedding. And my mom and sisters, who are all lifelong dancers would take out a record player, throw on some Prince and dance through our house. I was even Prince for Halloween last year. Needless to say, I was pretty devastated by the news of Prince's death. Him and his music have always been a constant in my life. RIP Your Badness. Great story.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 08:06 PM) Quite a few people. He released 3 albums in the past 2 years, one of which reached as high as 5 on the album charts. Not to mention his involvement with artists he's tutored like Janelle Monae. Prince was simply one of a kind. Amazing performer and absolutely brilliant musician. Quite a few people is an understatement in the truest sense. I'm jolted. I'm two years younger than Prince and I remember when his first album came out and hit our high school by storm. I took summer classes in Madison in '84 when Purple Rain came out. One of my classmates went to high school with Prince and told us he was a really good basketball player. Years later, Dave Chapelle did a hilarious skit about playing a pick up basketball game with him. A true musical genius. Our generation's Mozart as far as I'm concerned.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) It's not about filling every hole, it's about filling as many as you can while hedging your risk at the remaining trouble spots. Right now, Avi & LaRoche are uncontested starters at two of those spots. In a market flush with OFs, not at the very least adding a guy who could push these two for playing time is an absolute failure. I'm willing to give Hahn until opening day to add another OF, but right now, the offseason grade should be incomplete because he's completely ignored one of the easiest and most obvious areas to improve this roster. I don't think he is ignoring it.
