  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 04:17 PM) Donaldson out. Eek. 3B a jinx this series What happened? Following the game on Gameday.
  2. Was asked by my boss today why I couldn't cheer for the Cubs so that my Cub fan friends could be happy. He says "So you want them to be miserable the rest of their lives?"
  3. Bam. 4-1 Rangers, Price hasn't looked good aside from the 2nd inning.
  4. 2-1. First run scored by the home team in the playoffs so far.
  5. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 03:35 PM) Anybody hate this series as much as I do? It is a lose lose situation for me I know I'll be cheering against the winner in the NLCS no matter who it is.

  7. Price looking really wild so far, not a fan of giving a guy that much rest, it's clearly affecting him.
  8. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 03:17 PM) Go Cubs Go is the song you would write if you were locked in a room for a year and forced to listen to Jimmy Buffett while watching Cub games. To be fair, as much as that song sucks the Go Go White Sox song isn't much better.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 03:08 PM) 9 straight Cubs starters have not allowed a homer in their outing. Seems like quite the fluke stretch of pitching they're getting. Middle of the pack in flyball and groundball rate over that period too, so it's not like they're suppressing flyballs.
  10. I want the Cubs to lose but the baseball fan in me kind of wants to see Arrieta face the Blue Jays lineup and see if they can solve him.
  11. Astros over Royals in 5 Blue Jays over Rangers in 4 Cubs over Cardinals in 4 Dodgers over Mets in 5 Blue Jays over Astros in 6 Dodgers over Cubs in 6 Blue Jays over Dodgers in 7
  12. The annoying thing about this series is we get to hear about how great the rivalry is between these two teams, yet in the last 70 years both teams have been over .500 in the same season all of 14 times. By comparison, the Red Sox and Yankees have both been over .500 in the same season 43 times over the same time period. If one of the rivals is usually terrible, it's not a great rivalry.
  13. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 11:00 PM) What about the last 9 years doesn't scream "desperation"? Look at where the Astros and Cubs are now. I love how a lot of the chronic complainers act like we've averaged 95 losses over the last decade. Boo freaking hoo, it hasn't been that bad.
  14. If everyone just ignored his posts he'd eventually just go somewhere else.
  15. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 10:13 PM) For all the broken record comments I get, I have ACTUALLY been broken recording this for a long time. The Sox need a complete rebuild and there is no good reason not to rebuild. Yeah there is, you'd be throwing away 4-5 seasons with no guarantees that you'll be any better off. It only makes sense if you are in a truly desperate situation, which despite all your wailing is not the case here.
  16. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 10:05 PM) F the Cardinals and Cubs. Worst series ever in terms of rooting interest +1. As much as I don't want the Cubs to advance, it's getting quite boring seeing the damn Cardinals in the NLCS every year.
  17. Ok now they're just on equal footing with the rest of the NL playoff teams, except now they can't use Arrieta Game 1. Not sure what the point of having him go 9 innings was, you were up 4 and you're going to need him again, and he's already pitched 60 more innings than he ever has in a season.
  18. Guys there's an ignore list for a reason. Putting certain posters there has already vastly improved my SoxTalk experience.
  19. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 07:34 PM) Wrong. I ripped him for not sitting him in September and letting Trayce play - although I didn't really rip on that. I ripped far more on playing the "elite" Melky Cabrera day after day. Never said Eaton couldn't produce. He hit c. .857 OPS after his first month. That will bring value. Which should be the idea. Although some prefer idols. But don't worry. Eaton will be back. Far greater chance of Trayce being packaged for a declining veteran than for EAton being traded for young talent. Literally no one ever called Melky "elite", you're starting to go overboard with this hero worship narrative, you never post about anything else. And Eaton is not going to bring back the young talent you want, so it doesn't make sense to trade him.
  20. Really thought the top of the first was the key to the game, you don't spot Arrieta a lead before he even throws a pitch. Almost feels like it's already over.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 06:43 PM) That's the only reason I'm rooting for them. Sure thing, buddy. No one here is buying that's the only reason.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 04:15 PM) I really don't mind a majority of their players. Fowler whines far too much about balls and strikes, Arrieta has become way too cocky (I guess he deserves to be) and Strop acts like an idiot. Outside of those guys, this team is much more likable than the 2003 team with Sosa, Zambrano and Prior leading the way. I would love to see them lose just to shut up the Chicago media members that believe Joe Maddon and Theo poop strawberry ice cream. It's interesting that we never hear about Hoyer. It's always Theo, Theo, Theo. If you just listened to the media you'd think Hoyer doesn't do anything.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 03:44 PM) Whatever. The Royals happen to own the White Sox and I despise losing 80 percent of our games to them every year. Of course you make a good point. Minnie, Cleveland and Detroit own the White Sox as well. We certainly do have issues in divisional games, and the Royals have had our number for a few years, but we've gone 18-20 against Detroit the last two seasons (not exactly "ownage" by the Tigers) and we had a winning record against Cleveland this year. The Indians have won the season series against the White Sox all of 1 time since 2008 (granted, they did it in dominating fashion, 17-2!).
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 03:00 PM) So why the hell is Tommy LaStella hitting 5th? It's not like he's hit well against Cole or anything. The Cubs have one extra-base hit against Cole this year, and it was a double by none other than... Tommy LaStella.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 02:43 PM) The great John Lackey is starting game 1 of NLDS. Not sure why it's not Garcia. I was wondering that too but Lackey had an ERA under 2 in September and has great numbers against both the Pirates and Cubs (1.25 ERA in 3 starts against the Cubs, 2.25 ERA in 3 starts against the Pirates). Garcia only has 1 start against either team (7 shutout innings against the Pirates), and his September/October numbers aren't as good as Lackey's.
