  1. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 08:14 PM) The typical unsubstantiated tripe from you. I don’t take you too seriously at all, but if you’re capable of it, I’d love to hear your reasoning as to why we shouldn’t be concerned that we traded one of the best players/contracts in baseball for a guy who could K 200 times in a season. He was an above average hitter last year despite all the strikeouts. And it's not like he's flailing away and looking overmatched, he's just not being aggressive enough in 2 strike counts. You haven't really done a good job explaining why the strikeouts are going to doom him. It also seems like you almost want him to fail just so you can proclaim that you "called it".
  2. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 09:29 AM) Yeah, after the homer I thought he was doomed. My post was premature. His stuff was really good otherwise. Then again I know about 2 guys in the Oakland lineup. What a sorry franchise that is. Horrible stadium, below average farm system, no good vets to trade to boost their system. Oakland's problem isn't their offense, it's their pitching. I think their offense will be pretty good this year. Also their farm system is not bad, it's a top 10 system.
  3. Avi's defensive metrics were fine in 2016 too, it's been a two year improvement, not one.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 30, 2018 -> 04:19 PM) Avi was an above average defender during 2017 by most metrics. Rated decent in 2016 as well, he hasn’t been a poor defender for a couple years now.
  5. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Mar 30, 2018 -> 12:22 PM) Can't wait to see the Prospect rankings going into '19 with this ammo Doubt Jimenez, Kopech, or Robert graduate and should all be Top 10 prospects league-wide 2019 Prospect List should look like: 1. Jimenez...Top bat in baseball, in Opening day 2019 roster discussion 2. Robert...Top 10 prospect in baseball, in Opening day 2019 roster discussion 3. Kopech...One of the best arms in baseball, in Opening day 2019 roster discussion 4. 2018 first rounder 5. Hansen...Ace potential, in Opening day 2019 roster discussion 6. Cease...Takes major leap, should be up at some point in 2019 7. Dunning...Continues dominance, should be up at some point in 2019 8. Collins...Continues to improve, up at some point in '19 9. Basabe...Have a feeling he rounds out the Top 100 a year from now after a monster '18, probably has a 2020 ETA 10. Adolfo...Hits very well in '18 and is borderline Top 100 This doesn't mention Rutherford who I'm not big on for '18 and Burger who was projected to have a big '18 before the injury nor the 2018 second rounder, Sheets, Burdi, etc. Jesus Looks like 6 Top 30 guys, and 9 Top 100 guys a year from now I'd actually be surprised if Kopech doesn't graduate this year, there's also a pretty good chance Jimenez graduates. Going to need a few guys to take a big step forward to keep afloat in the rankings.

    OOTP 19 Thread

    The two things I struggled with were 1) Trying to get fair value in prospects for your veterans. I took over the Sox in 2017 and when trying to trade Quintana other teams acted insulted when I inquired about anyone's top prospects, even in a straight up 1 for 1 deal. Ended up trading him to the Yankees for Jordan Montgomery and Miguel Andujar (and this was before their stock rose this past year). Abreu was having a monster year one season and when I tried to trade him at the deadline all the offers I got were complete trash. 2) Guys turn into pumpkins really fast. OOTP seems to think that once you hit 32-33 you immediately become worthless. There were multiple guys who I signed in their early 30s coming off great seasons that were never good again. Thankfully Dylan Covey turned into an ace and won the Cy Young in 2021 and led the White Sox to a title.
  7. Jeff Sullivan @based_ball last year, over 118 games, Matt Davidson never hit a ball harder than 113 miles per hour. he reached 114, 114, and 115 today
  8. I'm with bmags, I still think Minaya will be fine.
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 06:37 PM) Didn't Avilan get one Yeah you're right
  10. 114 mph on that one, that's three 114 mph or higher. Wow.
  11. Had a couple really nice swings in that AB from the right side
  12. He didn't swing at 5 straight pitches that has to be a record for him.
  13. Didn't someone here call him hitting 2 HR today?
  14. See good things can happen when you swing the bat Yoan.
  15. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 04:20 PM) Be interested in the exit velocity on that Davidson bomb, that was a short, quick swing and he crushed it. 110mph maybe? Gameday says 115 mph
  16. I love Jose, he just muscled that out of here.
  17. Schwarber already with two poor defensive plays, so much for the weight loss making him a better fielder.
  18. Ian Hamilton has a big year and finishes the season in the White Sox bullpen. Collins fixes the hitch in his swing and puts himself back on the map this season with a great year at the plate.
