**7/7 Tad less epic game Thread! Sox vs Jays**
OmarComing25 replied to Brian's topic in 2015 Season in Review
Are we ever going to score 5 runs at home again? -
Only 6 teams in the NL have a winning record.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 08:39 AM) They haven't scored 5 runs in a home game in 23 straight. That is their longest streak ever. It's really incredible as they do have some should be decent hitters on the team. What's amazing is that we're 12-11 over that stretch. We haven't scored 5 runs in a home game since May 9th! That's incredibly bad.

http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbullet...ad.php?t=143164 Yeah I know, I'm linking to WSI, but I read this post the other day and I think the poster makes a great point. I see so many posts here day in and day out about how it's "clear the players don't give a s***" or just flat out don't care and there's a big difference between saying "this team sucks" and "this team doesn't give a s***". These guys are professionals, they didn't get to this level through lack of caring, they're just not good enough. There's constant criticism here about their supposed lack of effort, but we as posters don't really know how much work the players put in between games or in the offseason. The results might not be there, but I don't think the issue is lack of trying. For those too lazy to click the link, here's the post:

Cubs pitching has been dynamite recently, but they can't buy a run. Their offense looks bad. Rizzo is slumping, Bryant has been just OK the last few weeks outside of his two HR game, Russell has cratered the last month, and everyone else has been mediocre to bad.

Surprised they left Buehrle in to face Abreu and Cabrera. -

Unless he picks it up a lot, it looks like the record isn't happening. At least he tied it. -

At least if our offense gets shut down again I'll be happy for the opposing pitcher. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 03:00 PM) I hope he doesn't pitch at all Yeah he's pitching Saturday so I'd rather he just get the extra rest. Especially considering his heavy workload lately.

Brewers now just 1 game under .500 under Counsell.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 01:14 PM) Sale's problem is that his April was worse than all of the other contenders, so he needs to offset that clearly (especially when he's pitching for a team at the bottom of the league with no pressure games down the stretch). He needs to be clearly better than everyone else for most of the season to offset that. In June he was, but that pace is ridiculous. If he keeps this up for the next couple months, even if the K-streak is broken, he'll earn it easily. But, he was in about that position last year - Chris was getting close but Sale could have thrown one or two more great starts and made it clear, esp. by having an ERA come in under the magic 2.0 line, then Sale gave up 5 runs in his 2nd to last start and that probably knocked him out. Last year Felix had a decent lead in ERA over Kluber and still didn't win it. I don't think Sale is as far off the other contenders as you make it seem. If he continues to strike the world out then all he needs is to get within 0.40-0.50 or so in ERA and he could win it. He's already the leader in fWAR right now.

QUOTE (WBWSF @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 08:39 AM) I was at the game and it was certainly a good game to watch and win. Still, Adam Eaton has to be the biggest disappointment this 2015 White Sox season. He looks terrible at the plate. He hit .300 in 2014 and I think everybody was expecting big things from him in 2015. I don't know why he hasn't been good this season but this team would have alot more success if he was performing better this year. He looks lost at the plate. He's had a rough couple last games but overall since April he's been much improved. In May he hit .262/.325/.402 and in June he hit .276/.355/.459 for an OPS of over .800. His bat will be fine. Melky and Alexei are far bigger disappointments, easily.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 04:07 PM) They just brought the wrong guy in. Putman gives up HRs but he gets Ks too...use him in a real jam - runner on 3rd less than 2 outs. They also waste a spot with Carroll instead of trying some guys from AAA and see if they can become a real contributor. I wanted Ventura to pull Shark after the 7th. Yeah Putnam gives up too many HRs but his pitches do not scream "hit me". He's something like 5th in K% among all pitchers in the MLB this year. He's been nasty most of the time, unfortunately he's given up a few untimely bombs.
