Lopez coming sooner, rather than later?
OmarComing25 replied to winninguglyin83's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 09:23 AM) He has in his last seven starts or so. He's been down-right dominant the last few weeks. Lopez's last 6 starts: 36.2 IP, 1.96 ERA, 2.49 FIP, 49K, and only 8BB. -
Estevan Florial, James Kaprielian and Jorge Mateo seems like a pretty fair package as is for Gray, but Torres/Frazier on top of that? Come on.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 10:50 AM) Same. Granted the padres just unloaded 3 useful players but to the extent the white sox overperformed in the first half it was because of a good bullpen. This bullpen will be the worst i've ever seen, and imo the big reason we underperformed the last 2 years was lack of a truly good bullpen. I'm not too worried about the Padres. What's crazy is that they're actually 29-27 in their last 58 games. Yeah they lost Cahill and will probably lose Hand but I can't see us being 4 games better than them the rest of the way. I think the biggest threat besides the Phillies is the Reds.
-
At this point I'll be shocked if we don't get the #1 pick. I think the Phillies underperformed in the first half (and by Baseruns they're 7 games below where they "should" be right now) and with this bullpen we're going to blow a lot of the few leads we're going to have the rest of the season.

Dan Jennings Traded to TB for Casey Gillaspie
OmarComing25 replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Rays must be really down on Gillaspie to give him up for Jennings, but I thought Jennings had little to no value anyway so this is still a nice get. -
For Jose Gomez, J.D. Hammer and Alejandro Requena. Only Gomez is in their top 30 prospects and all the way down at #21. Seems like another light return for a reliever having an excellent season.

QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 04:13 PM) It is a bit impressive, especially considering how bad he was in Low-A. If he can keep that up in AA/AAA, then I'll be genuinely impressed, and It'll pretty much all but guarantee he'll see the majors in September. I heard he's awful defensively, though. I feel dirty saying it, but I hope it happens. I'm rooting for him. Yeah his hype train in football went overboard but that's not really his fault. From all accounts he seems like a good guy and it's clear he's taking this very seriously.

Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell
OmarComing25 replied to username's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 10:51 AM) Cool. Still hope they drop Minaya tomorrow for Lopez. I'd rather see Minaya than any of the other stiffs in the pen at this point, he actually has decent numbers this year. -
Can Rodon become a quality mlb starter?
OmarComing25 replied to Dominikk85's topic in Pale Hose Talk
In 2015 and 2016 his numbers were that of a pretty good #3 starter (averaged 3.1 WAR/200 innings), if he never becomes more than that then that might be a disappointment considering his upside but that's still a quality MLB starter. So he's already there, the question is if he can be a top of the rotation guy. -
Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell
OmarComing25 replied to username's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It was definitely a buyer's market. The Orioles have a plethora of good relievers available and then there's also Hand/Neshek/Wilson and potentially Reed or Iglesias, most of whom had more trade value than Swarzak. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 02:37 PM) I feel like he hasn't learned anything about how to pitch or get outs during the 3 years he's been up. He still seems like he's trying to overpower people with stuff, he still seems like he's throwing the exact same mix of pitches he did in 2015 and trying to work hitters the exact same way. Does he have anything new since then? Do you see him attacking hitters any differently? I disagree, during that great stretch he had in July-August last year he was clearly mixing in the changeup pretty frequently when in 2015 he barely threw the pitch at all. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/carlos-rodo...a-step-forward/ This article covers it more. After the All-Star Break last year he was throwing his changeup nearly 20% of the time but before the All Star break it was just 6% of the time. -
With regards to Lewis, I was reading Longenhagen's chat today and he said he's pretty worried about his struggles with staying healthy, and that it could be a recurring problem.

**SPOILER THREAD** GAME OF THRONES ** SPOILER THREAD **
OmarComing25 replied to TaylorStSox's topic in SLaM
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 10:37 AM) The show has made it a point to have the dragons stay in one place while breathing fire (not all the time but frequently), my guess is during one of those times an arrow from one of the crossbows will hit them. Gotta remember, no one has battled with a dragon in hundreds of years, tactics to protect them and avoid such defenses aren't really known at this point. Yeah and if some random Sons of Harpy can hit a dragon with spears then I think the crossbows will get at least one big hit on a dragon, which will either kill or at the very least seriously injure it. I also think the writers will want to show that the dragons aren't invincible in a battle. -

Swarzak will get a well deserved day off tomorrow. I hope his arm doesn't fall off before we can trade him. -

So Davidson's homerun was an estimated 476 feet, which would be the 6th longest homerun of the season. And that was with the wind blowing in, that's crazy. -

Who would you guys say is the #3 option out of the pen right now after Swarzak and Jennings? -

QUOTE (ChiSox1917 @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 02:55 PM) It can be in certain circumstances. Not every single time we get a base runner like Rick seems to believe The only guys I ever want bunting are pitchers or guys who hit like pitchers. Hopefully Moncada can hit better than a pitcher, and if he can then I don't want him ever bunting. -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 02:50 PM) Hawk and Stoney saying that Renteria is trying to get the players in the mindset to learn and lay down good hunts when the team is good. Ok then Rick That still doesn't make much sense because you should almost never be bunting anyway, it's not a particularly useful skill. -

Ton of hard line drive outs today. Hendricks is getting pretty fortunate.
