  1. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 10, 2017 -> 01:50 PM) I read something on twitter that says Swarzak is #1 in MLB in hard hit ball % (meaning he allows the lowest percentage of HH Balls) among relief pitchers. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=...0&sort=20,a Here he's 8th. Felipe Rivero is 1st.
  2. I just don't see a fit with the Dodgers, or why they would need another SP. Kershaw and Wood are the best 1-2 punch in the game, Hill/McCarthy can be a suitable #3 for the playoffs and they can piggyback their other guys for the 4th playoff spot. Their rotation leads all of baseball in ERA, FIP and WAR.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 10, 2017 -> 10:36 AM) We're going to have to reassess how much war numbers really matter to opposing GM's if we don't get quasi ace value for Q. Even in a down year, he's STILL around 20th in fWAR, making him a TOR starter for all but about 15-18 teams. Bwar is only 1, so huge spread there...whereas he and Vargas are even at fangraphs, bwar has Vargas as 4 and second in AL to Sale, while fWAR they're both exactly 2's. Huge disparity/discrepancy. What matters is what GMs expect going forward, not what happened in the first half. The first half only really matters if GMs believe that Quintana is now a different pitcher than he was a few months ago. He's had an uptick in walk rate, but that's somewhat offset by a similar uptick in strikeout rate. His homerun rate has increased, but his exit velocity, hard hit numbers and flyball rate are pretty much exactly the same as last year so I don't think he lost his homerun suppression ability. His velocity and stuff look pretty much the same. Not sure why you're bringing up Vargas because the Royals aren't selling but the only difference between his first half numbers and his usual numbers is a lack of homeruns, an ability he's never shown before. Although he's given up 5 homeruns in his last 3 starts, so I don't think opposing GMs would buy into his early season homer suppression continuing if he was put on the block.
  4. It was an awful trade but I'm already sick of hearing about Tatis every 4th post.
  5. Yeah unless Quintana goes on an Arrieta 2015-like run to close out the season I don't see a scenario where his trade value is higher this offseason than it is right now. Trade him for the best offer, whatever that may be.
  6. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 10:18 PM) Call me crazy, but I think this was a very positive outing for Q. His curve was nasty, he got squeezed a little, and his defense let him down a couple times. I would have to think scouts were happy with what they saw, regardless of the boxscore. Agreed, I'm pretty happy with the start all things considered.
  7. Flowers' career BABIP is .330 though, and even with a 60 point drop his numbers will still look good if that improved K rate is legitimate. But he wasn't going to be a part of the next good White Sox team anyway, so it doesn't matter.
  8. I voted for Swarzak but another question might be who do you think doesn't get traded? I think everyone on that list but Avi/Shields/Abreu/Holland goes. Melky is an August acquisition for someone.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 04:56 PM) Nice pitch selection, what a bonkers game. Rangers should be ashamed they didn't sweep I hope this series doesn't convince them to become sellers.
  10. I don't care what extra angles they get, he was clearly safe.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 03:20 PM) Nothing, the defense ruined it. Cost Q many pitches Yeah I don't think this start changes things either way.
  12. That was impressive range by Sanchez.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 01:55 PM) Frazier dropped it Ah you're right I missed that.
  14. That looked out on the replay, why no challenge?
  15. Who would have thought that after 81 games the Cubs would be scoring fewer runs/game than the Sox?
  16. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 11:01 AM) A half season of good baseball does not a career make. Like with Avi we'll see about Kahnle (who's ERA is now up in the three's. Still good...but not what it was) And I seriously doubt even the rebuilding White Sox are going to waste money on a pitcher who can't pitch (Petricka) because the guy CAN'T STAY HEALTHY. But as always we'll see. I don't understand the posters that would rather be right than have a White Sox player do well. It seems like you'd be happy if Kahnle reverted back to his previous form.
  17. I haven't really outright rooted against the Sox this year, but on the other hand it would really serve us better if the Rangers stayed in the playoff race.

  19. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 01:39 PM) Yeah man, Acuna has HUGE helium. True CF with 70 run and a better bat than everyone thought. This is my pref order: Acuna Jimenez Frazier Verdugo Tucker I highly doubt Acuna or Jimenez are available. I think Frazier might be simply because the Yankees actually have so much high-end OF depth in the upper minors/majors. I think Tucker, like pretty much all of the Astros prospects at the moment, is overrated. Why do you think Tucker is overrated?
  20. Joey Votto somehow has more extra base hits than strikeouts.
  21. So the Dodgers lost last night on a walkoff strikeout. https://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/mp4/20...asset_2500K.mp4
  22. QUOTE (Username @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 08:32 PM) Guerrero 6 IP 1 ER 4 Ks 0 BBs. Looking his resurgence. Now 8 IP 1 ER 6 Ks 0 BBs
  23. Even with the slow start to the year I still doubt Quintana's trade value will be higher in the offseason than it is now, even with a strong second half. I think he gets traded at the deadline.
  24. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 01:53 PM) That and the fact that they are still in the playoff race. Yeah if the season ended today they would be in the playoffs.
