QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 09:42 PM) No but that's now two bad outings in a row for a guy with no track record. Still wish they could trade DRob soon and see what Kahnle can do as closer. Didn't the defense let him down in his last outing? I'm not too concerned.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 11:37 AM) You will see Tatis Jr on more than law's mid year top 100s. He's showing really good power for an 18 year old in A ball. Would be shocked if he's not on Callis's and Longenhagens based on their chats. He was on Longenhagen's preseason top 100 at #78.

Anyone play OOTP? Just picked up the latest version a few days ago and decided to see how long it would take to get the Sox back to the playoffs. Ended up finally winning the division in 2021 with 93 wins, despite every free agent signing being a disaster over the years, which was eerie (Darvish/Carrasco/Nelson Cruz). Kopech/Lopez/Jordan Montgomery (traded Q for him along with Andujar who is currently the starting 3B)/Collins all made the All-Star team, Basabe is my starting RF (I've got Haseley in CF), Burdi is the closer and Adams and Clark are middle relievers. Funnily enough Covey is my #2 starter after Kopech and Giolito does well when he's healthy but he's always hurt. Moncada has led the league in SB several years in a row and I ended up drafting Seth Beer who is currently the #2 prospect (though still hasn't played a game in the majors yet). Burger was drafted by the Nats and just hit .291/.350/.543 for them on the year.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 24, 2017 -> 02:32 PM) I think that's been gone for several seasons now. I'm at the game right now and I see it. Edit: nevermind I thought you were talking about the words "the catch".

QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jun 24, 2017 -> 02:20 PM) Just DFA Shields. He is entirely useless. Scrap Todd with him. Also, STFU Benetti. Nobody cares that Mark Buerhle is so down to Earth that he offers to replace his chair. No one cares for your s***ty jokes either. Why are all your posts so angry.

I'm 27 but I started following them regularly in 2004. Pretty fortunate timing with what happened the next year. It's too bad though that I missed all of Frank's prime years. Same with Jordan and the Bulls in that regard, born just a little bit too late to really appreciate both of them.

So excited to be at the game tomorrow. Definitely my favorite all-time White Sox player.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 01:20 PM) I dunno...his issue seems to be hitting the ball, not how hard he hits it when he does hit it. It isn't like this new ball is larger or something. Yeah I feel like the juiced ball is most beneficial to guys with warning track power. Davidson hits no doubters.

The Cubs also don't need a reliever and aren't selling low on Schwarber.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 12:09 PM) What package could the Yankee's put together then that would net Trout? I'm not sure there is one because I doubt the Angels are even entertaining the idea of trading Trout but any package from the Yankees would have to start with Judge/Severino/Torres and add from there.

Wtf that pitch was right down the middle, cmon ump

Yeah I get the bullpen has been overworked but this is unnecessary.

Great, timely outing from Q.

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 06:50 PM) I've heard and read in different places recently that "the ball is juiced" this year. Heard radio show hosts suggest it. Have read it on message boards and in the comments below articles. Are we falling for this again? Aren't people suspicious of PEDs again? I am. I don't know that I'll ever trust athletic accomplishments again. The reason people are suggesting juiced balls is because the homerun rate leaguewide spiked literally overnight in 2015. If PEDs were the main cause the change would have been more gradual rather than immediate and also would not only affect the hitters.

He definitely doesn't get any cheap homeruns, that was murdered.

Is this off-season the time to add a cheap 1b?

QUOTE (turnin' two @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 10:16 AM) Rafael Palmerio won it in a year where he played 1B 28-- yes 28 times-- and DH'd the rest. I know I would much rather have Jose Abreu than Brandon Belt. And I like Brandon Belt, he certainly adds a lot both offensively and defensively, but at first, I would rather have the intimidating power bat. I think you're underselling Belt's bat here. It's not his fault he plays in a home stadium that is death to left-handed power hitters. -

QUOTE (harkness @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 08:24 AM) I agree with much of this post... but the defense Is that sarcasm about the defense? Hosmer won the gold glove at 1B 3 straight years... Jeter also won a bunch of gold gloves. Hosmer is very poor defensively. Absolutely no range at all. -
I don't think I would do that if I were the Angels. If I'm trading Trout I want at least a proven All-Star caliber player in return, not a bunch of prospects. It's more likely than not that that group never becomes as valuable as Trout by himself, and even then 10 WAR from one position is >>>>>> than 10 WAR spread out over 4-5 positions. The only elite prospect of that bunch is Torres and he's having season ending surgery. Kaprielian is also currently damaged goods.

Nationals acquire Doolittle/Madson from As

QUOTE (FT35 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 10:21 AM) I don't hate the logic. In reality the stats don't always equal out. Many times a guy could come in with the bases loaded and 0 outs--throw a sac fly bringing in the runner from third--then strike out 2 to end the inning--and still gets tagged with the blown hold. To me those "hot potato" situations aren't the easiest to hang a negative stat on a reliever who came in and faced 3 batters and got 3 outs. Whereas many blown saves happen from starting the 9th inning fresh with no base runners. Also the 9th inning is a different animal in many ways--pinch hitters galore, the heart of the order more times than not, the crowd...etc... Maybe your logic would sit better if we were just talking clean-inning blown holds/saves--even though the 9th inning element is still looming. Wait why would the heart of the order come up in the 9th inning more often than not, that doesn't make sense. -
QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 07:33 AM) lol. okay. It's a violation of the rule but it's not particularly dirty. He started sliding and bailed In what way was that not dirty? Halfway down the line he was running in foul territory and when he collided with Hedges he was on the other side of the foul line. He clearly went out of his way to bowl Hedges over even though there was a clear path to the plate. I also didn't like how he acted like he did nothing wrong afterwards. I definitely lost respect for the guy.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 11:35 AM) Kahlne has no track record to speak of, I highly doubt we get a top 100 guy for him. If so it will be 80-100 range I disagree. I agree that the lack of track record means that we probably won't get a deal matching his performance, but I think GMs would definitely give up a top 100 guy for him, and I think the 50-75 range is in play. If not then two in the 80-100 range should be doable. There's been nothing flukey about his numbers so far. Of course he could go back to struggling with his command, but I think there's enough reason to believe he's legitimate that we'll get a pretty good offer. -
QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 10:39 AM) See, Avi's Rod Carew-esque Babip has lead to irrational exhuberance, such as calling him a "middle order bat." Or recalling KW's unadulterated BS of calling Avi's potential as "30-30." Now, drop his Babip to a league average Babip, or even slightly above average, and Avi's a below average player, at best. Re-signing him would be insanity, IMO. His BABIP will almost certainly fall but Avi's career BABIP is .333 so regressing it to the league average doesn't make sense. He can be a .340 BABIP guy, so going forward I think his numbers will still look decent if he can keep hitting for power.

Kahnle showing he can handle high leverage situations is huge.

All of Abreu's homeruns have come on the road this year, that's weird.
