Game Day from Toronto June 17th at 12:07 PM CDT
OmarComing25 replied to elrockinMT's topic in 2017 Season in Review
I feel like we've dominated the Blue Jays the last few years. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 07:59 PM) Cabrera shaving off .1 or .15 from Q's ERA... That run would have been unearned anyway though.
-
I think Gray is the most worrisome to be honest, his velocity is up, he's getting a ton of grounders and he's now getting strikeouts, he's pitched much better than his numbers indicate. Cole is struggling and I think the Rangers will hang in there enough to not sell. Same with the Rays.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 07:48 PM) Cueto looks terrible this season. Vargas is someone that will get dealt for quality prospects The Royals are back in the race, so Vargas might not go anywhere. Only a couple games back of Cleveland.
-
With Adams/Guerrero having bounceback years (feel like Guerrero should be in the top 20) and Adolfo showing life suddenly the 11-20 range in our system isn't looking too bad.
-
I'm worried the Yankees might go after Gray instead.

QUOTE (kwill @ Jun 15, 2017 -> 11:29 PM) That is correct. You will have the Astros, Yankees, and Dodgers all would want a guy in Kalhne. If there is one thing we learned from the past 2 playoffs it is that you want as many high leverage relievers as possible. Teams are learning in the playoffs having the best bullpen pieces can win you a series. See the KC Royals Run or the importance of Cleveland's pen last year. What I'm getting that is a starter is sometimes brought in for to get a team to the playoffs but relievers can be valuable to teams that don't even need the boost. All three of those teams already have very good bullpens right now though and Kahnle's price will be steep. They'd all probably prefer a SP to acquiring another reliever.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 08:37 AM) That sounds like it is flawed, it seems like Leury throws to the wrong base a lot. I like him but his athleticism covers a lot of mental mistakes he makes He's leading all OF in assists though. Is he throwing to the wrong base enough to offset that?

From the few games I've watched Happ looks pretty terrible in the field as well. He just looks so awkward out there.

O's and Sox "getaway day" game thread

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2017 -> 03:32 PM) STOP THE PRESSES, TIM ANDERSON JUST WALKED! On 4 pitches too. And yet Abreu still swings at two pitches way out of the zone the next AB after that just happened, pretty funny. -
Season 3 of Fargo has been a clear step down from the first two, but the last two episodes have been quite strong, I'm really enjoying the Nikki/Mr. Wrench team-up.
-
Last two homers for Davidson off RHP, very nice.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 10:34 PM) The thing that makes me uncomfortable about the BABIP % statistic is that it seems to equate all non-homer hit balls equally. So the guy who bashes it off the wall every at bat would have a "lucky" BABIP% while the guy who doinks it to the pitcher time and time again is "unlucky". Perhaps if it would distinguish between softly hit balls and hard-hit balls.... I realize Avi's under any measure is unsustainable...but he certainly does drive the ball a lot. And as they say, sometimes you make your own "luck." Mike Podhorzer of Rotographs has an xBABIP stat that takes into account batted ball profile, soft and hard hits, and shifts, and Avi's xBABIP came out to .329, which is pretty close to his career BABIP. http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/the-two-m...-overachievers/

White Sox pick 3B Jake Burger at #11
OmarComing25 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 07:21 AM) Man you guys are acting like Austin Beck was available and we passed on him for Burger. There was no easy answer at 11. Yeah Burger isn't the most exciting pick, but I would have said the same about JBB, Kendall and White as well, so I'm fine with it. -
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 02:41 PM) Why get bats over someone that the Sox think could be a top of the rotation starter? If Kyle Wright fell, would you pass on him for a bat? What about Hunter Greene? No you wouldn't. I'm not completely against taking a pitcher but getting a guy who has a good chance of ending up as a reliever isn't worth it at this point IMO.
-
Don't really like the idea of Bukauskus as we already have enough small-stature SP prospects that many scouts think end up as relievers, would prefer White over him.
-
QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 02:25 PM) What a wasted opportunity. If Q was doing well this season it would be an easy trade for both the Astros and White Sox with what is going on to their rotation. Q gets soft and everything messes up. I doubt he gets moved I do think if he has a strong next 8 starts something will come together but with how off his command has been this year unfortunately I don't have a lot of faith in that happening.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 03:12 PM) Arrieta can forget that long term contract extension... He won't get the 7 year contract he wanted, but if Samardzija can get 5/90 after the year he had with us someone will give him a nice payday.

June 10th Game Thread: White Sox @Cleveland Indians
OmarComing25 replied to InTheDriversSeat's topic in 2017 Season in Review
Looks like he probably just wanted Robertson to face the top of the order. I like it. Edit: Nevermind -
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 10, 2017 -> 04:23 PM) Rockies look fantastic. They may finally be ready to make some noise. Blackmon has been the Avi of the NL. Their pitching is really impressive this year. Probably the best pitching staff they've ever had.
-
Hoffman looks great. That curveball is filthy.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 03:35 PM) It's not that -- it's how rarely college 1b prospects actually work out. The vast majority of big league first baseman were drafted at other positions and just grew out of them. When the best college 1st baseman drafted in the 1st round in the past 15 years is Eric Hosmer, that should speak volumes.
