  1. If the Sox can win today, they'll have already matched last season's win total against the Twins.
  2. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 8, 2016 -> 11:23 AM) Pretty much. What's more shocking to me is how poorly the projections like the Royals. The projections really dislike the Royals, but for some reason they like the Rangers even less, projected for worst rest of season record in the AL, tied with the Angels.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ May 7, 2016 -> 03:41 PM) A's beat the Orioles Yankees beat the Red Sox Tigers lost and are under .500 Royals up 3-0 on the second place Indians Today has potential to be perfect for the Sox. Price got hammered again. He is having a rough go of it this year. 4-0 Royals now, feels weird rooting for them, but Cleveland looks like they're the more dangerous team.
  4. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ May 7, 2016 -> 03:40 PM) The point where they go through a slide. It's not that hard. Robin has proven he can't deal with real, on the field adversity. Period. Thank god portions of this team have over performed. And with regards to Thibs, the whole Bulls org hated him because he was a nutcase. Looking forward to watching his big guns play 46 minutes against the 76ers in Minnesota. I think you're overestimating the impact the manager has. As long as he's not grossly misusing the bullpen (and aside from a couple headscratchers, Robin has been fine here), abusing the starters (might have rode them a bit too hard last year, but this year it's been fine), and utilizes the bench (I think Robin does a good job here), I don't think the manager really matters that much. Can't deal with real, on the field adversity? I'm not even sure what that means.
  5. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ May 7, 2016 -> 01:18 PM) Happened across this article earlier, but for a team like the Sox who are looking to add offense, why not think big and consider the mighty MIKE TROUT who, if this article is correct, could be made available given the current state of the Angels. And as I read this article and saw the potential trade partners the author notes and the kinds of prospects who would need to be in play to entice the Angels to part with Trout, I'm not too sure the Sox couldn't have a seat at that table in any negotiations given the elite talent they currently possess on the farm. A huge long shot, of course, but such an acquisition would not only catapult the Sox' chances for success in the near and perhaps distant future, but it could also go a long ways towards changing the narrative on the Chicago baseball landscape to firmly remind everyone that there are two teams in the city. http://scores.espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/p...ding-mike-trout I have no idea what kind of offer would even be good enough for Trout. First thought was Quintana/Eaton/Anderson/Fulmer/Adams, but other teams could beat that offer, and that's probably the best package we could offer. Angels aren't trading Trout though.
  6. It's kind of annoying that after 33 games our fifth starter will have already pitched 7 times.
  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 7, 2016 -> 12:52 PM) The Twins destroy Sale. I have a bad feeling about this game That was just last year. In 2014 his numbers against the Twins were pretty good.
  8. The difference between this hot streak and last season's hot streak for Avi was that last year it was largely fueled by an unsustainable BABIP. There are good signs this year. He's actually starting to take pitches, and he's putting the ball in the air more than ever before, and he's hitting the ball hard. Currently has a 114 wRC+ and is on pace for over 2 WAR on the season. Hope he can keep this up, this is the first time I've actually felt a little optimism about him.
  9. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/lets-watch-...n-save-12-runs/ Cool article with a bunch of gifs of all of Eaton's run-saving plays this season.
  10. I'd be very happy if we can just go .500 combined with our 4th and 5th starters. So far so good.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 6, 2016 -> 07:52 PM) Losstos has replaced hOt FiRe as the worst nickname ever created on this website Which player is the second one referring to?
  12. Indians on a roll, up 5-0 on the Royals. They might be the team to worry about.
  13. The ball is flying out of the park at Wrigley today, hopefully Latos doesn't give up too many flyballs.
  14. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ May 5, 2016 -> 09:31 PM) I'm on my feet! Me too!
  15. Damn who knew Sanchez had that kind of AB in him?
  16. Why the hell are the strike zones always so different?
  17. Just make him pitch 6 even if it takes 150 pitches.
  18. Owens really doesn't look any better than Johnson does, disappointing inning.
  19. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 5, 2016 -> 07:53 PM) Bonds had a few Didn't it happen to Frank in the early 90s?
  20. Hope this year doesn't turn into another 2003. Wasn't that the year where the lack of a 5th starter sunk the team?
  21. Should have been strike three the previous pitch. Damn.
  22. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ May 5, 2016 -> 10:05 AM) This attendance thread is like watching CNN election coverage. It's the same thing repeated over and over, yet I find myself coming back. Listen, go back to 2005. Attendance wasn't exactly great throughout the year. People are slow to come out. If anything, next year is the year you would see the biggest bump on if they make the playoffs. Case and point, 2005 and 2006. Like I've said in the past, we're going to get 15,000-20,000 for weekday games regardless if it's Boston. This will be true for the HOU and CLE series in May as well. The Twins series and KC series this month will have 25,000 on Friday and 30,000+ on Sat/Sun. Once School is out, it is consistently warm, THEN you will see the bump. But for now, no. You could also add 2007 to the mix. Despite losing 90 games the Sox averaged 33,000 per game.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ May 5, 2016 -> 09:48 AM) Excellent post, Omar QUOTE (Dunt @ May 5, 2016 -> 09:58 AM) Omar is one of the posters here that always kills it. Dude is a wealth of good information. Thank you for the kind words.
