4 more outs. -
Depending on the deal, I'd be for it.

The hate for the Twins has faded a bit since 2010, but in 2008 there wasn't a team in sports I hated more than them. That made beating them in the Blackout game that much sweeter, and Danks was a huge part of that. Despite the poor results over the past few years, I never stopped liking the guy.

Sad to see it go out like this, thanks for the blackout game, Danks, easily a top-5 sports moment for me.

Red Sox scare me more than any other team in the AL, and I still hate Wright for helping ruin our trip back to .500 last July. Big game today! -
I don't think even J4L is bold enough to make that kind of prediction.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 2, 2016 -> 11:25 PM) I couldn't find room for Eaton in my top 5. His OBP is good but 3rd on the team and as good as his defense has been its just not enough because of the great pitching the team has got and the better power stats of Lawrie and Frazier. Eaton is a big reason why the pitching has looked great.
-
Twins crush Keuchel, who isn't getting the borderline calls he was getting last year, so he's walking everybody this year. Astros are screwed.
-
My choice is Eaton. Hot start to the season set the tone, and you can't say enough good things about his defense so far.

Remember when we were all worried about his arm? Amazing turnaround since that first week.

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ May 2, 2016 -> 03:16 PM) Sox offense amongst all MLB: 6th least likely to strikeout 11th most likely to make contact 15th best RC+ (offensive value factoring in park & league effects) 15th best OBP 14th best batting average 17th best wOBA 18th most likely to draw a walk 20th in SLG We're 24th in BABIP which, if you care to make that leap, could suggest we've been quite unlucky once the ball comes off our bat. Though there is not much really to go on regarding that yet. We are unfortunately 4th least likely to hit a line drive. 7th lowest Hard%. Probably a big factor in the low BABIP. As for the Hard%, here are the average exit velocities of all our hitters (MLB average is 89.15 mph): Navarro: 86.40 mph Abreu: 88.31 mph Frazier: 89.29 mph Lawrie: 89.35 mph Rollins: 85.71 mph Saladino: 84.28 mph Melky: 91.15 mph Avi: 93.91 mph Jackson: 88.38 mph Sands: 89.76 mph Eaton: 88.48 mph Abreu is over 3 mph down from last year. If Avi can keep lifting the ball like he has been this season and cut down a bit on the strikeouts he might actually be able to stick around if he keeps hitting the ball hard. His flyball% is up almost 45% from his career average, and it's a small sample size but his O-Swing% over the past 7 days is just 20%, leading to a 1:1 K/BB ratio. Amazing what happens when he doesn't swing at everything. Just for fun, the pitchers: Albers: 86.84 mph Danks: 97.79 mph (ouch) Duke: 81.28 mph Jennings: 88.63 mph Jones: 87.42 mph Latos: 87.07 mph Petricka: 86.05 mph Putnam: 92.80 mph Quintana: 89.14 mph Robertson: 90.00 mph Rodon: 87.13 mph Sale: 90.66 mph Danks is more than 10 mph up from last year. Sale is actually more than 4 mph up from last year. It's worked out so far, but I'm not sure I prefer the new "pitch to contact" Sale.

@SSS_pnoles Teams w/ lower total position player bWAR than Adam Eaton's bWAR (2.0): NYY CLE MIN OAK WSH PHI ATL CIN MIL SDP That's one-third of all teams.

ESPN cut out Schilling from the documentary about the 2004 ALCS. How stupid and petty.

Well deserved

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 2, 2016 -> 08:30 AM) He's quickly becoming a favorite player of mine. I love his intensity, and I think it's having a positive impact on the team. I know there was that Cubs homer saying he's pissing everyone off, but I don't think that could be further from the truth. That sort of passion and intensity is what the Sox have been missing for years. On top of all of that, he's hitting well and playing in the field well. He's got some surprising power. I wouldn't be surprised to see 15-20 HRs from him. As far as his glove, we can probably not worry anymore about his transition to second base. He hit 16 last year playing half his games in Oakland, so 15-20 this year shouldn't be surprising at all.

QUOTE (shysocks @ May 2, 2016 -> 08:42 AM) I feel like this isn't the first time Sale has done this. Somebody help me out? QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 2, 2016 -> 08:58 AM) Torriiiiiiiiii Hunter was hit last year on a swing. I don't remember if it was strike 3 though. That kind of adds a lot to it. The limping back to the dugout in shame. He did it like 4 times last year IIRC. In that Cubs game where Sale struck out 15 it happened to Denorfia (4:32 in the Youtube video). Sandoval too. http://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/2015/0...25483_1800K.mp4

Another fun note, with Price getting rocked last night Quintana now has the lowest ERA in the American League over the past calendar year.
-
With just over 20% of the season's road games in the books, Sox already have 33% of last year's road win total. Also, today's ump makes me hope robot umps happen soon.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 1, 2016 -> 03:52 PM) Do not want to see the Orioles in the postseason, especially if they add an arm or two. It's obvious they are the best team the Sox have played this year.... goddamn that lineup is brutal. Their rotation sucks. I'd be fine with facing them.

It's not like Sale was on today, I don't feel bad for him. But yeah Petricka looks horrible.
