  1. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 12, 2016 -> 11:53 AM) Not really. Williams ran a still productive Frank Thomas out of town. Then, after dispatching his starting CF, Williams, par usual, completely misevaluated his young talent, and traded the only one of 2 rookie CFwho could play, leaving us with a starting CF who couldn't hit. And of course, Williams' poor evaluation skills have been a huge anchor for this organization for years. The offense wasn't the problem in 2006, it was the starting pitching. If that 2006 team had the 2005 rotation, they would have won well over 100 games.
  2. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 12, 2016 -> 01:03 PM) I remember hearing that about Rodon, but he came up in mid-April. How did that happen? I forgot Noesi was that bad.
  3. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 12, 2016 -> 11:21 AM) There is something about Pittsburgh I like more than the cubs. I just really don't like the back end of their rotation. Glasnow should help with that later though.
  4. QUOTE (Special K @ Apr 12, 2016 -> 07:52 AM) We're stuck with Danks until we have an alternative. In the scheme of things, when we're complaining about Danks as our 5th starter, it means we have nice problems. I think the bigger issue is that we will need another "good" bat at some point to replace Avi. Just can't see the offense keeping up at this pace - hope i'm wrong. The offense is averaging exactly 4 runs a game. I'd hope they could do better than that pace.
  5. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) I have a feeling Kennedy will be very good for them this year. Medlen and Young OTOH... yikes. Because of his first start? Kennedy is not good.
  6. Finnegan no hits through 6 but walked Ross and Lester back to back earlier in the game. Makes sense.
  7. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 06:52 PM) Anytime you can win in Minnesota it's a very good thing (just look at history...) Nice that Q got a few more runs than "normal" today. He should have had more to be honest with you. Sox are still leaving a lot of guys on base. And what can you say about Garcia swinging at the first pitch he saw after the bases were loaded on a HBP. Bullpen was rock solid today...even Jones. Well done overall. Enjoy the day off and take the series by winning Wednesday. Mark You say that like Jones is a bad pitcher...
  8. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 06:26 PM) Yeah, I think I'm really going to like him from what I've seen so far. He should have at least 3 homeruns at this point. I like how hard he hits the ball.
  9. I love beating the Twins. I hope they don't win a game this season.
  10. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 06:17 PM) But Sanchez would be a great defensive improvement at 2B. Lawrie has played good defense so far.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 06:03 PM) We can't bring Jennings in for Mauer because he's a reverse split. There are no other lefties to bring in. No reason to complain about Duke Yeah I don't get the complaints. Plus he's pitched all of one inning, let's not crucify the guy yet.
  12. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 04:50 PM) That's because he is the rare pitcher these days who truly seems to have a rubber arm. I like Quintana, I think he's a very good pitcher, I think he can be the #2 on playoff team. He does hold himself back sometimes, especially with the nibbling. But the nibbling is part of his essence so I forgive it. No one is saying Quintana's a perfect pitcher. But I think you're overstating his faults, blowing too many leads is not one of them. And Quintana is effective because of the nibbling, he doesn't have overpowering stuff. If he didn't nibble he wouldn't be good.
  13. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 04:43 PM) I think he throws too many pitches and does not go deep enough into games as much as he should. It is valid argument it is not like he said he stinks just that the woo is me thing is a bit of his own doing. He's 13th in IP among all pitchers from 2013-2015.
  14. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 04:36 PM) He definitely has "bad luck", more so than most pitchers, but its usually in the form of garbage defense. There are many games where the Sox have given Quintana a lead and Quintana hasn't held it. Maybe its been only a 1 or 2 run lead, but a top 20 pitcher holds that lead more often than not IMO. Yeah until you link to the boxscores of all these numerous leads Quintana has blown, I'm not buying it.
  15. QUOTE (joegraz @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 04:30 PM) Ummm....Duh? You're the one complaining about Hawk being in the booth "I thought he was doing away games only."
  16. QUOTE (joegraz @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 04:27 PM) just tuned in...why the *** is Hawk in the booth? I thought he was doing away games only. It is an away game.
  17. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 04:13 PM) Move Danks out for good. And who do you replace him with? Like it or not Danks is the best option for the 5th spot right now.
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 01:28 PM) His WAR/162 was over 3 last year. That's because he had a crazy high DRS value last year, at +12 in just 60 games. At a full season's pace that would have been the second-best defensive season by a 3B since they started tracking DRS. I like Saladino, but that was likely to be unsustainable. And even with historically good defense he still wasn't coming close to 4 WAR over a full season.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 01:18 PM) That is highly debatable. (The defensive value Saladino brings plus his hitting that probably wouldn't be too much worse may be better than Rollins' overall production) I don't think it's highly debatable that Saladino likely never puts up a 4 WAR season.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 12:53 PM) Nice to see the Pirates with an early 3-0 lead on the Tigers. They are playing 2 home/2 away this week. The 20 interleague games can be a big factor in winning a division. 12-8 is very good. 8-12 is very bad. Nice to see Verlander get pounded. The Pirates would have more runs too if they didn't run into 2 outs already.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 10, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) Arrieta with more homers hit than allowed over last 22 starts. Well that didn't last long.
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 10, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) They didn't name the kid Drake? f*** that, that's not family first The name of the kid is in the first post of this thread.
  23. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 10, 2016 -> 12:14 AM) Where did you hear that? That's so annoying https://mobile.twitter.com/ChicagoSports/st...6174564352?s=09
  24. Bumgarner hits a homerun off Kershaw again today. Great reaction by Kershaw. http://i.imgur.com/N870cS9.gifv
