  1. Interested to see what Solorzanos line is tonight
  2. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 14, 2017 -> 09:04 AM) The guy also used two players playing at home yesterday which is very risky. Yeah he is getting lucky for sure. Picking players like Harper, Zimmerman, Trout, who get pitched around a lot. I mean it worked for him, hopefully he gets it. This game needs to be beat by someone
  3. QUOTE (Soha @ May 15, 2017 -> 12:11 AM) All in all, the tank hasn't gone too well this year. Not only are they losing ground for the top picks, but Quintana's poor year so far has at least temporarily neutered his tradability. I guess the 2 big pluses are Avi and the bullpen guys. Will these guys keep it up long enough to get good returns in 2 1/2 months? Without our pen we are in the Seth Beer sweepstakes. Sell them off!!! Except Kahnle..
  4. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ May 14, 2017 -> 12:30 AM) Yep that's crazy. There are some players with huge track records (around 50 ab's) against certain pitchers where they are hitting around .500 (Matt Carpenter vs Wily Peralta comes to mind - 22 for 46). All he has to do is wait a month or two for matchups like that to come up the rest of the year since he's already at 51 one month into the season. I have had those track records bite me in the ass before but he would be a fool not to do that
  5. His streak continues on a walkoff home run by Harper
  6. Sanchez deserves every spot at 2nd until Moncada comes up. Sad to say his future here is limited.. I really like him on this team
  7. ah, the wasted bunt how many times has that worked this season? 0? edit: I guess once
  8. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 13, 2017 -> 09:04 PM) Burdi is the last piece of the Shark/Ynoa trade with Oakland. Kahnle/Burdi is the future
  9. 3 straight fastballs middle in, not the best pitch selection there
  10. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 13, 2017 -> 07:03 PM) Usually the 6th inning on is when Giolito falls apart. Lets see if he get over that hump. This is still one of his best outings no matter what happens in the 6th. Something is working for him today, lets hope he keeps improving on it.
  11. Giolito through 5 innings 5IP, 3 hits, 1 walk, 5 SOs
  12. hes getting deep into counts now
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 13, 2017 -> 11:41 AM) Call me crazy, but I think things finally start clicking for Giolito tonight. Not bad so far
  14. It must be tough realizing your career is probably over soon. I wonder if it keeps Asche up at night.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ May 12, 2017 -> 03:20 PM) From the same chat, 95 pct chance Giolito is a reliever according to scouts. What a fall for him What were they saying about Fulmer last year? I would guess the same. He looks to be turning it around this season.
  16. Frazier is so bad, what a depressing acquisition. Don't blame Hahn for going for him but man...
  17. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ May 12, 2017 -> 07:06 PM) Ha ha, there's a blast from the past. Just looked at the Kanny box score and noticed Shawon Dunston Jr in the lineup for Augusta. I have to give Fulmer credit. I didn't expect him to rebound this quickly. Looks like he's doing a better job of throwing strikes and it's paying off. He has looked good so far. 5 IP on 66 pitches, one walk. Edit:thought he had 5 innongs but in fact had 4. Seeing Fulmer succeed like this shows that it isnt too late for Giolito.
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 12, 2017 -> 02:10 PM) https://theathletic.com/59993/2017/05/12/ex...x-gm-rick-hahn/ This is excellent. Hahn talks about how much they loved Dane Dunning and that there were some other players they asked for from Washington but couldn't get. He reiterated that the deal doesn't get done without Dunning though. At the end, Hahn mentions that his oldest son is playing a computer baseball game. He said he's in the 2018 season already and has drafted Seth Beer and signed Luis Robert and Hahn wants to know when they win the World Series so he has a better timeline for when people ask. Quality stuff. OOTP??
  19. Contract: Free Agent in 2021 Stats are absolutely mindboggling and dominating (best in baseball for xFIP.. currently has a NEGATIVE 0.15FIP) Fangraphs love: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-white-s...-on-the-planet/ So what do we do about this guy going forward? If he truly has figured it out then we have him for when we should be competing again. A back end of Burdi and Kahnle throwing 100mph+ sounds like the bullpen will be dominant for years to come. Of course, hard throwing bullpen arms come at a risk and this start is a small sample size. So what do you hope Rick Hahn does here? Trade him at the deadline or keep him?
  20. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ May 12, 2017 -> 11:38 AM) Kahnle This is an interesting one because he is under control until 2021 and would be a great fit for when we are competing again. He is 27 years old. Of course if Hahn is blown away by an offer I would be happy to trade him, but I think we are better off holding onto this guy.
