  1. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 09:56 PM) We don't need a DH we got Laroche. Obviously, I was just joking. But...he couldn't be much worse than Avi out there in RF.
  2. This has all been smoke and mirrors in order for the White Sox to sweep in and get their true target...Chris Davis
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 11:16 AM) The more time goes by, the more I believe the Sox won't go more than 3 years on anyone Abreu is under contract for 4 more seasons. Give Cespedes a 4-year offer so he can play with his buddy for the remainder of his buddy's contract. Give him 4 years.
  4. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 09:12 PM) Again... Give me Cespedes or give me death!!!! I agree...Give ME Cespedes or give ME death!!!!
  5. QUOTE (Saufley @ Jan 2, 2016 -> 10:04 AM) This is exactly how I felt yesterday BUT, I am really wanting the Sox to get one of the three so I will remain optimistic until the situation plays out. I am trying to be as optimistic as I can This whole process is not over yet. However, I just get fed up with their whole "Holier than thou" attitude. They act like they are kings of the baseball world with this type of attitude, and that they can get anybody they want on their terms. However, what have we proven? We hardly ever win anything, and the biggest contract we have ever given out was Abreu at $68M. The behavior of the FO is just bizarre.
  6. If this whole 3-year firm offer is true, the White Sox just look ridiculous at this point, especially in regards to Cespedes. If this is the case, and they are ignorant enough to announce it to the world, they should have never gotten involved anyway. And especially shouldn't have been so public with their desire to sign one of the big 3. Why would any FA ever want to sign here? It is really embarrassing.
  7. QUOTE (Saufley @ Jan 1, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) If this is true, I prefer they not leak the info. Just bow out gracefully. Completely agree. If this is true, it is embarrassing trying to pretend to play with the big boys, but truly not wanting to be anywhere near the part of being one of the big boys in terms of spending.
  8. Sometimes it is truly painful being a White Sox fan. We will never give out a 9-figure contract. I hope I eat my words, but it is always the same 'ole story. Leave it to the White Sox to screw this up by crying "poor." With this news, we aren't "All in." We a partially in and hoping for the best with a useless RF. If they are truly only willing to go 3 years, they should be embarrassed. I am actually embarrassed.
  9. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 10, 2015 -> 08:51 PM) Really? Losing 6-3 but "should have won?" Okay. sure. Btw, you are one weird sox fan. I don't post here much, but I read this forum all of the time. You are one weird dude. You should probably stay off of here. You are nothing but a trouble maker.
  10. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 10, 2015 -> 08:51 PM) Really? Losing 6-3 but "should have won?" Okay. sure. Ugh...yeah..okay...sure. Maybe "should have won" is a bit strong, but there definitely should not have been a 5-run inning. Thus, making it much closer of a game, and a winnable game for the Cards. Ugh...okay...ugh...sure. Duh...Duh...
  11. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Sep 6, 2015 -> 11:32 PM) That's what good teams do, they beat bad teams. That is true, but junk teams like Milwaukee and Atlanta are inexcusably bad. And during their big run, they beat these teams 11 times. The NL is just junk. Take a look at the Tigers. They beat up on the Cubs and won 2 games in a row against them. Reason...that have some guys that can swing the bat. Very unlike many NL teams. Then...boom...they play Atlanta and win 4 in a row. A perfect way to end a losing streak. Put the Cubs in any of the AL Divisions and they are no more than a .500 team. I truly believe that. Explain to me, how does a team that strikes out at such as high percentage, with a middle of the road run differential, a mediocre bullpen, and #3-5 starters that average at best to below average have such a great record? They play in a terrible NL. My problem is not necessarily with the Cubs. It is with the media that never acknowledges this fact, but is quick to acknowledge it with other Chicago teams (i.e. Bulls). It is annoying. I guess they are just living "rent free" in my head
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 6, 2015 -> 11:38 AM) I kinda want the Cubs to get to the WS just to see the board implode. lol. I can't believe how many people here have the Cubs living rent free in their heads. "living rent free in their head?" Very clever, you love to say that.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 6, 2015 -> 11:43 AM) When Chris Sale puts up the same numbers in interleague play , it's because he's the best pitcher in baseball. Arrieta does it and he's just lucky to be in the NL. Got it. I certainly didn't say Arrieta is not good, he has been fantastic. But in general, that team fed off of bottom feeders in the second half. Sorry, they did.
  14. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 10:42 PM) I love typing this so much that I'll type it again: Junk team playing in a junk division in a junk league that plays the game in a junk way which allows junk pitchers and junk batters to have long careers. A bunch of high-strikeout rookies are 20 games over .500 with no #3-#5 starters and a junkfire bullpen? GMAFB. Buncha junk and the media never reports that aspect of it. This couldn't be more RIGHT ON. Perfect description of the situation. Junk, Junk, Junk. I really can't wait to watch them face a solid team in a playoff series and watch this all end. Hopefully, Pittsburgh will put an end to it quickly before it even gets to that point. The fact of the matter is, the NL sucks. And especially in the second half, the Cubs have gotten fat on bottom feeders. Whenever they face any decent pitcher, they usually lose. Or, face a decent hitting team without Arrieta pitching, they most likely lose. This is not Cubs hate, it is a fact. It has been pure junk. Tell me, during that huge run that has put them in playoff contention, how many freaking times did they beat the Brewers in that span? 11 or something? What a joke. And having to hear David Kaplan and his goons compare this team to the 2004 Red Sox? Are you freaking kidding me? It is statements like that one that make me sick and actually make me hate my hometown city in general sometimes (when it relates to sports). Give me a break. The 2004 Red Sox would wipe the field with the 2015 Cubs. C'mon now...
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 03:11 PM) Our Chuck just said this was the first series in 19 the Sox faced a team below .500. He also just said that they are "7 or 8 games, something like that" out of the Wild Card race. It is pretty scary that somebody making a living reporting on sports doesn't know that they will be 5 games out after the Twins most likely lose today. Big difference between 8 games and 5 games.
  16. Wow...some real "fans" here....hoping to lose...wow. It's been fun.
  17. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 09:58 PM) We're beating up the Cleveland Indians though, not the Royals. This team is a fraud with this lineup. Sell. Sell. Sell. Beating up a solid pitching staff.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 08:45 PM) Johnson has done pretty well this year. Do you think he'll dominate in his second stint in the bigs? No
  19. Minnesota: Have a gut feeling they will fall from grace Toronto: Can't pitch, aren't that far ahead of US, and want one of OUR top pitchers...why would we help them? One game over .500 Tampa: I have no idea how they are where they are...but they will fall. Under .500 Detroit: Can't pitch. Under .500 Baltimore: The only team that concerns me, but they are 2 games under .500 and supposedly NOT selling but going for it. Texas: We will pass them up. Why not just take a shot at this thing? Still over 2 months to go.
  20. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 09:30 PM) Might not want to forget Rodon and Fulmer though both have a lot to prove of course , but both very high ceiling players. I agree...they do have a lot to prove. And I believe in Rodon, and I believe in Fulmer. But a rotation of Sale, Shark, Q, Rodon, and Fulmer will be unreal. We have to remember Danks is coming off the books in 2017 and we still need a righty. I just don't think Johnson is that guy.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 09:27 PM) If the Sox think they can get to 84-78, they should stand pat. That's 39-28 the rest of the way. Sell? No, they should not sell. The team is starting to gel. They should have gone 2-2 with KC but they blew the Saturday game. And they blew the second Cardinals game. But, why would we trade Shark to Toronto...when we are not even that far behind them and our pitching staff is way above the talent level of theirs? It just makes no sense to me. Look at the teams in front of us. I am not saying we are great, but we played the worst we possibly could play before the All Star break. And all the teams in front of us...they are just bad. And the Twins...just watch. They are going to fall in the next 2 months. We should let it play out. We are kidding ourselves if we think players that we will get in a trade will be of any value. It is wishful thinking. Nobody like Addison Russel will be coming our way. And quite frankly, I am not too impressed with him unless you like a overhyped 2B that can't hit.
  22. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 09:17 PM) f*** THIS TEAM! Yep, it is pretty sad actually. Reminds me a lot of the 2008 Tigers team after trading for Cabrera and Willis before the 2008 season, only to have a horrible season. We all know what happened to the Tigers team for many years after that. They were the class of the divsion. That is why I cringe at the thought of breaking up this rotation. I truly believe that we will all be very sorry that we are going to be depending on Johnson and Montas in the future when and if anybody is traded. I can almost guarantee it. They are overhyped. Johnson...yeah right. I have heard that song before.
  23. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 07:42 PM) or they are packaging Johnson and Montas in a trade................................................ For sure. A surprise is coming our way.
  24. We need to make sure that we trade Shark ASAP and not try to re-sign him. That way Danks can move up to the 4th spot of the rotation.
  25. This team needs to work on retaining Shark because him, paired along with Sale, are the only 2 guys in this organization and team with any "stones." Their attitude needs to permeate the clubhouse and this organization. If you start trading your core assets and strengths for those "suspects" (whom rarely pan out anyway), this team is going to continue to be a snooze fest. I highly doubt this organization brought the Shark aboard just to trade him, even if we fell out of the race. As silly as this KW 3-year plan sounds, I think they wanted Shark not only for this year, but also to have exclusive negotiating rights with him after the season. They truly wanted "him." Trading Shark will really be useless. You will be without a strong right handed starter to pair with your true ace Sale, and I really have to disagree...at this point Shark will most likely bring you a prospect that most likely won't pan out and will fade into the abyss only to never be heard from again. Let's face it, most of them never do unless you get a can't miss prospect, and we won't get that for 2 months of Shark. Unfortunately I believe the Sox are in a position to just let this season play out. Hopefully have a nice second half, possibly get to .500 and leave on a positive note going into next year. They will just be creating another hole by trading him along with decreasing their ability to re-sign him in the offseason. After all, if they trade him, they are going to need a right-handed starter anyway.
