  1. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Sep 14, 2017 -> 04:59 PM) I think Carson Kelly is doable. Hasn't set the world on fire with his call up. You mean you dont want to trade a 26 y.o. All Star OF going into the prime of their career for a career .250 minor league hitter who has 9 MLB hits so far and is only 3 years younger. Not to mention Avi is a good teammate. Lets put it into perspective. Today Avi got 55% of the total hits that Kelly has in his MLB career. Seems like a really good trade idea. What we need to do is give Avi a decent 4-5 year deal and wrap him up for the prime of his career.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 08:57 PM) Good end to the night for Yoan and Timmy Louie Lechich is having another nice season since being converted to a pitcher. 2.10 ERA in High A ball with a 1.1 ratio.
  3. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 09:18 PM) Leury had a terrific, all around game. If there is 1 guy that has just shocked the hell out of me this year and who I want the Sox to keep around it is Leury. I honestly thought he would never stick on a ML team. He hit .200 over 3 seasons had 2 HRs and 16 RBIs prior to this year in over 300 ABs. It is awesome what he is doing this year, add in the fact he plays excellent defense at multiple positions.
  4. Mike Trouth hit .220 in his first year which was 40 games and had a .281 OBP.Trout was 20 years old at the time. Yoan is 22. Still very young. Trout struck out 1 of every 4 ABs Yoan is at .182 with a K about every 2.2 ABs. But his OBP is around .325
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 20, 2017 -> 03:37 PM) No thanks. He's 33. We need to collect as many youthful assets as possible. If nobody wants him you can't force people to give u an asset. My post was based on him not going anywhere because nobody wants him. He can help a young staff next year
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 04:44 PM) There continues to be less interest in Gonzalez than I expect. I would not mind if we resigned him. He is a good back-of-the-rotation veteran who appears to be good in the clubhouse. And he would be cheap.
  7. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Aug 15, 2017 -> 08:08 AM) Not sure I support him getting promoted either, as Zavala seems more deserving. Collins has performed very well in August, batting .343./500/.686 with 11 walks to only 8 strikeouts Zavala has had the more impressive season though. It gives both guys full time jobs the rest of the year. Collins is the higher prospect so he will be pushed. Its a good move.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Aug 14, 2017 -> 07:59 AM) He'll likely eventually be #1 in all of baseball but hey at least Lucas Giolito credits his slightly improved consistency to James Shields It kills me that Tatis Jr is doing so well. And I don't like to cheer for a player to suck and his career end. But even if he did suck and never made it to the majors it would still be a net positive compared to what Shields gave us the last 2 years and (hold on while I puke) next year
  9. At least Hansen made contact. Moral victories. :-)
  10. QUOTE (ecupittfan @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 09:32 PM) terrible at bat by Sanchez. Come on Timmy, make some contact, be disciplined Thanks for not listening
  11. terrible at bat by Sanchez. Come on Timmy, make some contact, be disciplined
  12. Hell of a peg by Avi, beautiful. Get some runs now
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 6, 2017 -> 02:12 AM) Hey guys, Hansen is 2-4. We might just have our Quintana 2.0 then. No run support, cant get a win despite great numbers.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 6, 2017 -> 09:08 AM) He has only driven in 1 less run than Tyler Saladino. That is kind of funny, but sad. I think Delmonico is going to be a good .270-.280 hitter in the majors with 15-20 HR power. He is still only 25 and doesn't look at all like he is intimidated up here. He bounced around to different organizations and now has stability in the White Sox. As far as his defense he should be able to handle one of the corner OF spots, he will certainly have the arm considering he was at 3B. He is going to be a solid MLB and if he can give us what Melky gave us with a slightly lower average but a little more pop then that is a quality piece of your team that wont cost a lot.
  15. Nicky looking like he really belongs. Even his outs are nice rockets. Follows Yoan up with a rocket. 2 on no out
  16. Maybe its starting to click from Yoan. nice at bat, 2 hits tonight
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 10:57 AM) Another big day for arms. Winston-Salem with a double-header. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20170730 Lets hope Giolitto can follow up that great outing with another. He has had 3 dominant games and follows them up with 1-2 average to stinker games. Need some consistency.
  18. Courtney Hawkins has actually been decent since back in Birmingham. Since July started he is 17-74 for .256 and only struck out 17 times. 10 rbis and 2 HRs. In his last 12 games he has only struck out twice in a game 1 time. Raised average 56 points in July. Maybe something is clicking for him. Prior to July he had struck out twice or more in Birmingham in 17 of 23 games. Only twice with 2 strikeouts in July. That is really an amazing turnaround.
  19. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 07:56 PM) 5th inning once again giving Pelfrey problems. I posted this earlier, he cant start anymore but could be a good mid inning guy. Could Pelphrey be a decent middle reliever next year. Through the first 2 innings in all his starts he is 34 innings and 10 runs. And through the 3rd innings of starts he will have 51 innings 17 runs. After that he goes about 26 innings and 26 runs. He just doesnt have the strength anymore to be a starter.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 06:31 PM) With his performance thus far and back issues, Saladino, unless the Sox see absolutely no hope his status should be hold. Could Pelphrey be a decent middle reliever next year. Through the first 2 innings in all his starts he is 34 innings and 10 runs. That is if he isnt scored upon next inning today. And through the 3rd innings of starts he will have 51 innings 17 runs if not scored on through 3 today. After that he goes about 26 innings and 26 runs. He just doesnt have the strength anymore to be a starter.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 10:27 PM) Awesome tag by Moncada Best thing about Moncada so far is no strikeouts in his first 7 ABs. Maybe he is more interested and concentrating more in the majors than in AAA.
  22. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 10:33 PM) Good, he's definitely not making it as a 3B, barring major improvements. I saw him at 3rd earlier this year and he is not a major league 3b. He has a bat but no glove for the big leagues. Smart move getting him to learn the OF as his bat can play in MLB.
  23. QUOTE (heirdog @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 12:01 PM) I suppose any return can be debated but one constant theme I've noticed is any critic of the deals Hahn has made to this point say "one player short" or "a tick light on the back end." Sale trade: "should've included Devers instead of Basabe & Diaz" Eaton trade: "great but should've pried Robles instead of Giolito" Quintana trade: "back end should've been better with Candelario" Fraz/DRob/Kahnle trade: "Clarkin should've been 3rd piece w Andujar or Florial" Given that we have basically been shopping most of these guys for over a year, Rick and team have a pretty good idea of the true market and what the best offers available. Given that Rick has shown patience, even with some impatience on this board, it's fairly clear that he didn't just jump on any offer to dump these guys. Given that there are still about 2 weeks left until the deadline, Rick's hand wasn't forced and ultimately these met the threshold of the type of return they could expect. I'm extremely happy with these trades both individually and overall. I believe that the Sox did ample due diligence and extracted the appropriate returns that are realistic. I want the Sox to seek potential superstars and the more high end chips the more likely we hit on a few. Our system has plenty of B/C prospects that will likely be okay or surprise. Give me the blue chippers all day every day and I'll sacrifice the back end of deals. I see that too but when the other team is not willing to add that extra player than you have to either make the best deal you can or do nothing at all. The people who make those posts think it would have been so easy to get another player in return when nothing could be farther from the truth. And one thing to remember about selling anything is that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
  24. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 09:25 AM) Even if he is the next Andrew Miller he's gone after next season. And what more could the Sox really have gotten for him next year? Rutherford is now where Torres was last deadline, I doubt they get more for him next deadline than Rutherford. Robertson and Frazier for Clarkin and Polo is a wash. What is really lost in this trade talk is that Swarzak is the closer now and I have him on my fantasy team which should allow me to gain some spots in saves. This can not be understated. Well done Rick Hahn.
  25. QUOTE (kwill @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 10:29 PM) Sorry about the miss spelling. I was trying to write it quickly. Do you disagree with my logic though? I feel like it was pretty sound. You could be right in the long run but right now its a bird in the hand. Holding onto him you risk injury, poor results. I would rather take what we can get, he really does us no good the next year or two when we will not be that good. Projections are always tough. If Rutherford becomes our starting RF in 3 years and hits 20HRs and .300 then nobody cares how good Kahnle becomes.
