Pedro Grifol is a legend. The only guy who could make you really miss and appreciate the managerial acumen of Ricky Renteria. On another note how many sox players this year could potentially have worse numbers than Ricky had when he played. .237 4 hrs, 41 rbis in his career.

Sox speaking about bringing back Clevinger
Ozzie for Manager replied to PolishPrince34's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I kind of feel the same way, Kobe Bryant raped a girl and was charged and is considered a legend and that is never talked about. Clevinger wasnt convicted so who knows what really happened. Bring them both on and we have a decent rotation. -
Hill looks to be a nice RP signing this year so far. If he has a great year he can bring a prospect at the deaadline. Cant be worse than Bummer last year.

I have learned that rankings arent everything. We thought we won the world series with Moncada and Kopech and Basabe. None of them even became a above average player. Maybe we relied more on our own evaluation than the so called experts.

They should have replaced him on base with Maldonado. Remind him what actually being on base is like.

Its because they pitch them to death all summer from the time they are 9 years old for the dads who are trying to live through their kids. These guys should throw 200 innings til their about 30 and then be 150-175 after that. Look at every HOF starter for the last 30 years, they werent babied and limited to 125 innings ever. Now its commonplace. We make them weak John Smoltz threw 200 innings for many years, then had TJ surgery, became a RP for a few years and then went back to being a SP who threw 238, 222 and 203 after 4 years as a RP. And here we are talking about Crochet getting past 50 innings. Is that why you drafted him first round?
-
I guess this just makes me laugh. Guys all used to pitch 200+ innings and we are talking about a first round pick not being able to go 80 innings. Give me a break. I threw that many innings in high school. Some of these guys need to just man up. I am glad Crochet wants to be a SP, wasting a top 15 pick on a RP is just dumb. You know how to get to where you can pitch close to 200 innings? You actually pitch more and more and build up your arm strength. Real pitchers like Scherzer and Verlander are throwing more innings in their 40s than these p*****s. Those guys threw 10 and 15 years of 200 innings. Verlander has TJ surgery and what does he do? Throws 175 innings and has a 18-4 record. These guys can't pitch because their arm has some soreness nowadays. Its supposed to be sore, get out there and throw some more and build it up while its a little sore. You ever hear of Verlander and Scherzer complain of a sore forearm. Let Crochet pitch and let him be sore, if he is a man he will throw 150 innings. Otherwise cut his ass loose.

Definitely not a guy that fits us. Has improved every year as he went higher up in the minors. Has power and hits for average. Don't want that messing up our reputation

He and Pettite are basically the same. Pettite with more wins but had much better teams around him and also PEDs. Buehrle had better ERA and WHIP. Slightly higher WAR. Yet being a yankee will most likely give him an advantage.

He needs a stretching program that he starts now every day. Too stiff and pulls muscles all the time. He has no flexibility

What are the Sox trying to do here, really?

As I became a Sox fan in the early years of Lance Johnson and crew I didnt know any of this so did some research. Speaking at my little league banquet had been Jeff Torberg who became manager and I became a fan and loved the new uniforms. Here is a good article for others who didnt know the history. https://www.southsidesox.com/2012/11/23/3680062/white-sox-history-when-ed-debartolo-almost-bought-the-white-sox -
Morosi linked Whit to White Sox in Dec23
Ozzie for Manager replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Even though this would be a big nothing of a signing. His Offensive WAR was 1.5 last year. All our second basement combined were .4 so its a huge upgrade. LOL -
I will just add 1 player who should be on there. Yonder Alonso. Signed for 2 years and 9 million dollars so we could entice his brother in law to the team. He had positive WAR all prior years and had over 20 HRs in his last 3 full seasons. He proceeded to hit .178, have a -1.5 WAR in only 67 games with a whopping 7 HRs. He was out of baseball the next year.

I would think that waiting to trade Cease would be beneficial in the long run. If these prospects spend more time with their current organization they will develop more. If the sox were to get them prior to the season that will only slow their development in our minor league system. So consider it a plus if we wait to trade Cease at the deadline.

And to think Yasmani's last 2 years mirror Dejong's year last year.
-
How about this one Hanser Alberto Lenyn Sosa Romy Gonzales Gavin Sheets Lets throw in Seby to round out the infield.
-
If you go with the O's then look at Connor Norby, a top 2nd base prospect. The Sox havent had a 2nd baseman worth a damn in years. He looks to be a 15-20HR guy with a .280 average. Hit 29 HRS in 2022 and 21 in 2023
-
Didnt Reese Mcguire do that and he ended up on the Sox because of it.

Bringing up Frazier instead of Reyes was dumb, but par for the course. -
