The new stadium idea is a travesty. This franchise has no credibility. But don't worry, everybody is a legend. Stone is a legend. Ozzie is a legend. Brings a tear to the eye.

Getz will say the politically correct things because he has no other choice. But he will find out, if he hasn't already, that no one is buying any of it. Money needed to be spent, but it wasn't because JR cares only about a new stadium. This is outright embarrassing. For the first time in franchise history, the White Sox will lose 100 or more games in two straight seasons. How long can the FO stay in denial?

4/13 GT - Reds at Sox (1:10pm)

And just think. That team was in first in a ten-team division for a great deal of the year, and they almost went to the World Series. They found ways to win, but the lack of offense finally caught up with them. This team has no idea how to win. -

That was the most boring game I have ever seen. Offense is the worst I've ever seen. Sosa strikes out on a pitch that hits in front of the plate. Even the late 60's teams, as bad as they were, were better than this. -
In 1968. the Sox didn't score more than 4 in the first 10 games. Basically, they scored 1 or none. They lost 95 that season and the franchise nearly fell apart.

I'm not usually for firing the manager, but I think this should happen now. The season is already lost, but something has to be done. If the FO doesn't want an absolute total fiasco, they should get rid of Pedro and bring in a real baseball man. I have been a fan for a long, long time, and I have not seen anything so pathetic. If JR doesn't do something now, he will only demonstrate that he doesn't care one bit. Screw that stadium. Really, screw that stadium. This is so bad, words can't describe it. The 1970 team that lost 106 was better. At least they cared.

That was a bad game. 13 runners and only three runs? Moncada loafing on the basepaths. This should have been a win, and the fact that it wasn't shows how bad this team is. KC isn't as bad as in recent years, but to be swept by them even in Kansas City is lame. Trade Moncada now if you can. He's hitting well, maybe someone will be dumb enough to take him.

Getz and Pedro should go. Product on the field is horrible.

It's a possibility that Getz may turn into a decent GM, but this organization is at a new low. And it has the gall to ask for a publicly funded stadium. -
I'm not a Getz-hater, but there is no excuse for fielding a team like this. Of course, JR is not interested in anything else but a new stadium, so that didn't help any. Regardless, this is going to be a 100-loss team and nothing can be done about it now. Clevinger? A desperation move that doesn't address a non-existent offense. The TV team is doing all it can to sell the great food at the park. Pathetic.

I can keep an open mind about Getz, but that does not mean I am optimistic. I have been a fan for a long time, and I have never seen it this bad. JR sees the new stadium as his legacy. Even you are a fan who wants the new stadium, it is still a good 5-6 years away. So much has to happen to turn things around, but the team has a tone-deaf owner. More losing is on the way.

3/31 GT - Sox vs. Tigers (1:10pm)
Highland replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2024 Season in Review
Usually during a losing streak, you can assume a team will come out of it somehow. But I don't see this offense doing much of anything this year. Besides Robert, and maybe Vaughn on a good day, there is nothing in this lineup. We will see many more boring games like this one. And, of course, many losing ones. -

Eloy has never been a clutch hitter. He'll hit a few homers, but his RBI total won't amount to much. 5 left on in two innings. -
The White Sox pitching was very good today so the defense didn't have to work that hard. I didn't see DeJong do anything spectacular. The spin was all over the place today. Losing a 1-0 game isn't the end of the world, but there wasn't anything all that great out there. We will have to get used to the anemic offense.

Poll: Predict Final Win Total for the 2024 Chicago White
Highland replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
71 wins. Better than last year but doesn't make for a great season. There will be other more telling things than win totals. -
Welcome to Tank #2.

For a long time, Lindberg had repeated the White Sox "blame the fan" routine. He is as tone-deaf as Reinsdorf.

Get a winning team first. Then we'll talk.

I believe that JR' s main objective is to get his new stadium as opposed to putting a winning team on the field again. Instead of going down to warm Arizona to see how his team is doing, he's in cold Springfield lobbying for public funds. Sometimes, fans have wondered if JR thinks about any legacy he will leave behind. I don't think it is another World Series. It is the new stadium. Who needs a World Series? Of course, his family will be in a better position to sell the franchise after his passing if there is a new stadium or plans to build one. What new owner wouldn't like to step into a situation like that? If JR wants a new stadium, it would help if he showed a real commitment to putting a winning team together. But that takes real money. Hey, JR, it takes money to make money.
-
I believe many think JR will still be around for a long time because he is doing well for a man of his age. Yet, some have described him as "shuffling" around Springfield not walking. Maybe he isn't doing as well as we think. After all, he is 88. Think about it. A team suffers through a 101-loss season, and JR's main priority is a new stadium. No doubt he wants his family to be well off after he goes, and a new stadium will help. I have nothing against a man taking care of his family, but that family will just fine financially, stadium or no stadium. Meanwhile, at least in the short run, we fans can't expect much from an on-field performance. Maybe Getz will do a good job in the end, but for now we will see losing. 2025 makes 20 years.
-
I don't want the Sox to leave, but I don't like the idea of being blackmailed. Nothing has happened yet, but we can see how the emotions have been stirred. I think it takes some nerve to ask for a stadium a few months after a 101-loss season. Maybe fans wouldn't think we need a new stadium to "save" the White Sox if the team won something once in a while. Since '08, this team has does nothing but lose. And yet, the same people are making the same decisions. A new stadium won't solve the problems the team has had. We don't need a new stadium. We need new ownership. I have a feeling we will get a new stadium. And any fan who thinks more money will be invested to get better players will happen because of a new stadium is naive.

Tim needed to get away from the Sox, and the Sox needed to get away from him.

Fans who think a new stadium will be good for the franchise are living in a la-la-land. The Sox are not due to win another World Series for another 69 years. By then, they will be on their third publicly financed stadium.
