  1. Perhaps Getz will turn out to be a good FO man. But this is a small-market team, and there will be only so much he can do. Yes, they're fortunate to be in the AL Central, but what does that even mean? The Sox have won division title in the last 15 years.
  2. The owners have no credibility right now. Over the years seasons have been delayed, interrupted and cancelled due to work stoppages. Then there is the Ohtani deal and other mega rich deals. If they are so poor, they wouldn't be throwing money around like this. And, of course, one that is not throwing money around is Jerry Reinsdorf. Hope everyone is enjoying this tank, Just one of many.
  3. The Sox have never been good with the PR thing. Someone usually says the wrong thing or offends the fan base in some way. Regardless, I had a booth in the vendors area there some years ago, and vowed I would never return.
  4. All I know is I see a lot of losing ahead. Don't know when the winning will start, but it won't be next year.
  5. The White Sox are tanking it again, pure and simple. As far as having a winning season, no one knows when that will happen.
  6. At the rate they're going, the White Sox won't be truly competitive until 2027. Sign placeholders to get time to bring up prospects. Then wait for prospects to develop. And some of them won't. 2025 marks 20 years since the World Series. Time flies when you're losing.
  7. I have nothing against him getting frustrated or even angry. He is not the first player to slam a helmet or throw a bat. But don't scapegoat the refs for a loss. No one gets the benefit of every call.
  8. Fedde may work out, and perhaps the Sox are heading in the right direction. But I have little patience for three more losing seasons, and that is what we are going to get. Hope springs eternal has never been a motto of mine. I don't see the Sox ever competing in the free agent market. Rebuilding alone isn't going to do it.
  9. Mahomes is acting like a self-entitled crybaby. The rules don't stop being the rules just because it is late in the game. Football can be frustrating because some infractions don't affect the play. But the penalty was the right call. I remember a play in a playoff game when the Chiefs had the ball inside the five with no timeouts and time running out in the half. Mahomes should have thrown a pass in the end zone and, if incomplete, KC would have a FG attempt. Instead, he throws it to a guy at the two. The receiver can't get in the end zone and time runs out with KC getting nothing. After the game, Mahomes wouldn't admit the mistake. He is a great player so he can get away with this stuff. And he will get away with it. But he had no right to blame the officials. At least not on this call.
  10. I would be curious to see the Sox response if the Cubs did get Ohtani. Would they continue on their snail-paced rebuild or would they respond in a big way? They are barely on the radar screen now. Really, why should anyone care about the White Sox right now? Getz is our savior?
  11. I have watched him. He's still a kiss ass.
  12. Garfein is also a Reinsdorf kiss-ass.
  13. By this time, I don't give a crap where Ohtani goes.
  14. In the early days of ownership, JR said he needed increased money streams from media sources. He eventually got them. He said he needed a new stadium. He got it. Of course, that stadium had to have sky boxes. He got them. He said he needed all these things to if he was to compete. So, why isn't he competing? There is no way that any government entity should cave and finance a second stadium. One World Series in 42 going on 43 years stinks. Right now, this franchise is in the worst shape since the early 1970s. I have little faith things will get better soon. Filling the roster with placeholders isn't going to get it. Threatening a move to Nashville? What are we going to miss?
  15. Probably doesn't mean anything, but fans and just about everyone else should not give into any manipulations by JR. He should be concentrating more on making the White Sox a major league team because it isn't right now. If it hasn't dawned on him, the FO staked its reputation on this rebuild, and it failed.
  16. I have no expectations about this offseason. 2024 is another 100-loss season.
  17. Greg Norton. His uniform was always dirty because he always busted his ass. Britt Burns. Pitched the game of his life in the 1983 playoffs and still lost. That was one of the biggest clutch performances I have ever seen.
  18. David Wells. Expected Sox fans to worship the ground he walked on when he came to Chicago. Turned out to be an out-of-shape fat ass with a big mouth. 5 wins he got. Hell, any skinny guy can do that and not look so ugly.
  19. Hemond was one of the best Sox GMs. Came along just at the right time. He knew how to make a trade and built the 1983 Winning Ugly team.
  20. This is so true. The sad thing about the White Sox is that it could have been turned into a great franchise. But that opportunity was blown and now look at it.
  21. I am not in the mood to "pony up." The political and economic conditions that affect major league creates a situation where winning or losing doesn't matter and public opinion matters less. Fans are constantly lectured about being loyal and are told to attend games no matter how bad a team is. But, for a long time, the average fan has mattered less and less. Funding comes from different sources and so who cares about the fan who goes to three to five games a year? I am not looking forward to the 2024 season. The White Sox have done next to nothing since winning the World Series. And they have shown they don't have to.
  22. Players need rest at times, and that's okay as long as it's not abused. In the end, a player should want to be on the field. But he shouldn't be on the field if he is swinging the bat with one hand.
