  1. Somehow, I can't get excited about Salvy Perez.
  2. I believe this is the 18th time the Sox have given up runs in double digits. When was the last time they won a series? Glad I decided not to watch this game today. This season can't end fast enough. I can't see how they can avoid 100 losses. Maybe Clevinger will be arrogant enough to point to the scoreboard again.
  3. Offense looked worse in person. Vaughn looked like he had no clue. They honored the Winning Ugly team but hardly anyone responded. The place was so empty, and many people probably had no memory of the 1983 team. It was sad actually. That was a hell of a team. They mentioned LaRussa and Baines as Hall of Famers on that team but said nothing about Fisk who is also in the Hall of Fame. The Sox didn't even look competitive. I'll be surprised if they don't lose 100. The bottom of the lineup was nothing but automatic outs.
  4. I am going with my daughter to the game today. We had a great deal of fun going to the games when she was growing up. This bad team can't take that away.
  5. Just think. The thought of losing 90 was bad. We didn't know how bad things were. 100 is on the horizon.
  6. A few years ago, it looked like the offense would be truly formidable. But Anderson is no longer the catalyst he once was. Eloy has actually hit the ball fairly well since the ASB, but his power hasn't been there. It all adds up to a team that cannot afford to get behind. But, with this pitching staff, it is often behind. This offense just won't scare anyone.
  7. The team has quit, starting with Anderson. Yes, it is hard to believe that Grifol is keeping his job. But, you have to remember, this is the White Sox we are talking about.
  8. It is painful to watch Kopech now. HIs slider has no bite, and his fast ball isn't that good. He is getting more frustrated by the day, and his confidence has to be waning with every appearance. Maybe he should have gone to the minors with Colas.
  9. Next year, the Sox will be a losing team with or without Clevinger. I am for losing without him.
  10. The Sox have had more than a few bad seasons during the last 50+ years, but this is the worst. And I wonder what is really bad. Is it the horrible play on the field or the talking heads trying to tell us everything will be just fine? How deep does the denial run?
  11. I do think they are attempting to send a message to the fans, too, because of criticism that no one is held accountable. Just like when Getz made the quick decision to keep Grifol. Getz was attempting to show he was acting independently of JR when the opposite was thought, at least by some. Lot of message sending here. I don't think it is hitting home.
  12. This is what I mean. It is only the rookies. Suddenly Grifol is doing the tough guy role when it is way too late for that. The season was lost in April.
  13. Colas hasn't been good, but I don't see the point in this. Who are they going to put in right field? Sheets? Besides that, the team is going nowhere, so what more damage can Colas do? I don't know what message the team is trying to send the fans, but what they are doing is pointless. This does not instill confidence.
  14. That double header in 1967 was key. The Sox had blown a three-run lead in the ninth inning the day before and had lost the first two games of a four-game series. That pitching staff was something else. They would win a 10-inning game 4-0 and a 17-inning game 1-0. The team just didn't have any hitters.
  15. I know mounting a rally against a team's closer is hard, but that ninth inning was pathetic. And how many times have the Sox gone through a ninth without even getting the ball out of the infield? Too many, way too many. And Getz: just watch two or three Sox games. You won't need to talk to Pedro to know what in the hell is wrong.
  16. The Bears are taking us back to the early 70's when they were an absolute joke. There is no reason to watch this so-called team.
  17. Why does he have to spend time with Pedro or anyone else? Just watch this team for 2 or 3 games and you'll see what's wrong. You're right. Weaknesses are everywhere.
  18. If you have seen a Dick Allen home run, you never forget it.
  19. There is only one Sox player who could match Dick Allen in pure talent: Luis Robert. And he hasn't put it together yet.
  20. Brooks Boyer's commercial was brilliant. For the first time, it demonstrated that someone in the organization understood Sox fans. In politics, you have to win your core voters first. Then you can reach out to others. The commercial rallied the Sox faithful and that was sorely needed. Yes, cub fans and the Chicago sports media cried like babies, but so what? Like Lip said, you have to be aggressive. Things are at a bigger low now. The team is losing some of its most loyal fans. They need to do something creative. The same old nonsense is not going to work. It's time to reach out to your base while there is a base left.
  21. 2005 was the last time I remember an AL Central first place team actually being good.
  22. The worst thing about this team is not that it will finish with a losing season. The fact that is has a real chance to lose 100 games is what is truly bad. Losing 100 is a special kind of bad. I recall sitting in old Comiskey Park watching the 1970 team lose 106. I felt more sorry for the team than anger. There was a headline in the Sun-Times in May, 1970, saying that the team drew a little over 18,000 for a doubleheader. Yes, the Sox drawing just under 20,000 made headlines. I wonder if the team is returning to those days.
